The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 3rd July at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Fri 3rd July will be: Angela Dooley, Elizabeth Doyle & Maria Carty. Catering on 10th: Catherine Moore, Nancy Walsh, Kathleen O'Connor & Tina Whelan. Catering on 17th: Betty Cullen, Lorna Komsa & Mary Kirwan. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

Ladies Football

Adamstown Ladies Football Club would like to thank Keating and Doyle Ltd for their most generous sponsorship of our under14 under 16 jerseys. Their generous donation was very much appreciated by everyone in the club.

Athletic Club News

The U14 to U19 Leinster Track and Field Championships took place in Tullamore on Saturday 20th June and Sunday 21st June. Adamstown A.C. was well represented those who won medals include: Ryan Carthy Walsh who was 1st in the U17 Boys 110m Hurdles and 1st in the U17 Boys High Jump and set a new Championship Best Performance;

Joe Mooney was 1st in the U18 Boys 5,000mWalk; Annalise Crean was 1st in the U17 Girls 2,000m Steeplechase; Marguerite Furlong was 1st in the U16 Girls Discus, 1st in the U16 Girls Shot Putt and 3rd in the U16 Girls Hammer; Zara Power was 2nd in the U16 Girls Hammer and 3rd in the U16 Girls Shot Putt; Triona Mooney was 3rd in the U16 Girls Triple Jump and 3rd in the U16 Girls 2,000m Walk; Clodagh Walsh was 3rd in the U17 Girls High Jump.

Some athletes who came in 4th place and qualified for the All-Ireland were: Shannon Wall in the U17 Girls High Jump and also in the U17 Girls Triple Jump; Kate Jackman in the U14 Girls Discus and also in the U14 Girls Javelin. Others who competed on the day were-Luke Byrne who was 5th in the U14 Boys 800m and 5th in the U14 Boys 1,500m; Eadaoin Stafford was 5th in the U15 Girls Shot Putt;

Shannon Wall was 5th in the U17 Girls 100m; Rachel Power was 5th in the U14 Girls Discus; Sonia Mooney was 5th in the U15 Girls Javelin; Tara Doyle was 9th in the U15 Girls Long Jump; Grace Cloney was 7th in the U15 Girls 80m Hurdles and Craig Wall was 7th in the U14 Boys Javelin. Ryan Carthy Walsh won a silver medal as a member of the Wexford U17 Boys Relay team and Shannon Wall won a bronze medal as she was a member of the Wexford U17 Girls Relay team.

Well done to all our athletes who competed at the Leinster Championships and put in excellent performances on both days. Ryan Carthy Walsh took part in the Tailteann Games on Friday 19th June in Morton Stadium, Santry. He was representing Good Counsel College New Ross and went on to win a gold medal. With a jump of 2.03m in the High Jump he set a second qualification standard for the European Youth Olympics which take place in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Remarkably he won the prestigious award for 'Male Athlete of the Games' along with 'The Best High Jump' award. Ryan will likely go on to represent Ireland in Scotland on July 18th for the School's International between Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. Well done Ryan!

68th Annual Show

Something for all the family, Fun Fare, Trade Stand, Horses, Ponies, Sheep, Show Jumping, Vintage Machinery/cars/implements, Inter Hunt Steeplechase, home Baking, Flowers, photography, Art, Crafts, Needlework, Dog Show, Carriage Driving & side saddle horse class.

The feature event will be the Tattersalls/Red Mills All Ireland thoroughbred Broodmare championship. We are privileged here in Adamstown to be able to stage suck a Traditional event each year.

Irish Dance Academy

Members of the Margo Murphy Irish Dance Academy achieved outstanding results at the Cumann Rince Gaelach (CRG) All Ireland Championships in Athlone on the 21st & 22nd June. They have qualified for the CRG World Championships to be held in Athlone on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October. Well done to all and best of luck in the Worlds!

Harvest Festival AGM

The AGM of Adamstown Harvest Festival will take place Thursday 2nd July at 9pm in the Community Centre. This Committee has been doing Trojan work since 2002, with every cent going to Sr. Helen Delaney, Uganda and several local charities. Please show your support by attending this important meeting.

Camogie News

The camogie club are holding a cake sale after the patron on Sunday 5th July in the hall. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Well done to the intermediate team who beat St. Ibars on Tuesday last (23rd June) in the first round of the championship. Score 3-10 to 1-6. A great start to the year.

Tinnabearna Swim Week

Tinnabearna Swim Week runs from Monday 20th July to Saturday 25th July. Enrol at the KMH Sunday 19th July from 10am 12 noon. Starts each morning at 10am, fee €30 per child. Please bring a packed lunch and plastic shoes. Places are limited so please enrol early.

Men's Shed

A Men's Shed is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place where men come together and undertake a variety of mutually agreed activities. Men's Shed Kilmuckridge is due to relaunch in the village. Call 0539130393.

Bree/Galbally

Open Garden

Gerard and Cathy Dunne, Merton, Bree will host an Open Garden this Sunday July 5th from 2-5.30pm in aid of Clonmore Church. There will be a Cake Stall, Plant and Produce Stall, Nutritious Drinks and Smoothies, Crazy Golf, Teas and Coffees and a Raffle. All support appreciated.

GAA News

Syl Byrne was midfield on the Wexford Senior Football team which beat Down in Senior Football last Saturday evening. Shane Doyle came on as a sub as Wexford beat Meath to win the Leinster Junior Football title last Thursday evening.

The numbers drawn in the latest Lotto draw were 6, 17, 21, 29. No winner. There was one match3 winner John and Paddy Murphy, Galbally. The Next lotto draw takes place July 8th in Byrne's of Bree at 9 30pm. Jackpot remains at a massive €10,000. Tickets available in all local shops and from committee members.

Ballybrennan Patron

Ballybrennan Patron will take place on Friday July 24th with Mass beginning at 7.30pm in the Graveyard.

First Aid course

If anyone is interested in taking a one day Paediatric First Aid Course please contact Elaine in Bree CEP/Parish Office at 053 9247613. If sufficient numbers are interested this will run on a date during the summer or in September in the Community Centre - costing approx €50 per person.

Parents' Association

Bree Parents' Association would like to thank everyone for their help and support during the past school year. The AGM will take place on September 24th. They would like to wish all the school children and their parents a safe and happy summer, especially the boys and girls going to secondary school-'go n-eirí go geal libh i gconaí'.

Bree CEP Visitation

Visitation of the Elderly in the Community has recommenced in recent weeks with two participants from Bree CEP, Sue and Annabel, calling on some of the elderly in the Community. This is a service organised in conjunction with the Active Retirement Group. If there is anyone who would like to be visited or perhaps you have a family member who would like to avail of this service please let the CEP Office know at 053 9247613.

Community Playschool

Galbally Community Playschool, catering for children from all areas, is now taking enrolments for September 2015. Parents can avail of free pre school places under the ECCE scheme and there is also a subvention scheme in place with rates starting from €4.50 per morning. All staff are highly qualified in childcare and first aid and aim to provide a safe, caring and enjoyable environment which promotes and provides for all areas of your child's development.

The playschool is a member of Early Childhood Ireland and is inspected by the Health Service Executive. Barn Dance

A Country & Western Barn dance will be held in Garry Byrne's store on Saturday September 5th. The band on the night will be the Colonials followed by a disco til late! Don't miss a great night's fun.

A.A Glenbrien.

The A.A. group in Glenbrien will hold an open public meeting in the Holy Family School in Glenbrien with Al Anon paticipation on Saturday 4th July at 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome to come along to the meeting Tea and Coffee will be served after.

Parents Association.

The Parents Association would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who provided all the beautiful confectionery for Mrs Anne Mac Loughlin's presentation and reception for her retirement from Glenbrien National School this week. A lovely afternoon was had by all both parents and children. We would like to wish her all the best in her retirement and wish her lots of fun and happy times as she begins another exciting chapter in her life.

The parents would also like to wish the students who graduated from sixth class all the best as they begin their journey into Secondary school in September. All the best to Ellen Creed, Elliott Killeen, Laura Doyle, Amy Lambert, Shannon Morris.
