Cards

The weekly '30 Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 24th July at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Fri 24th Ann Marie Mackey, Mary Furlong & Ann Redmond. On Fri 31st July will be: Liz Furlong, Ellie Walsh & Stella Delaney. Proceeds going to Parish Funds. Adamstown Lotto

The next draw in the Adamstown Lotto takes place Monday 27th July in the Brad Ógs for a Jackpot of €13,000. When this Jackpot is won the next Jackpot will start at €7,200. There were 2 match 3 winners, Ciaran Foley and Chloe Booth.

Athletic Club News

It was another great weekend for Adamstown athletes at day 2 and day 3 of the All- Ireland Juvenile T & F Championships in Tullamore. Marguerite Furlong won her second gold medal in the U16 Girls Shot Putt having won her first gold medal the previous week in the U16 Girls Discus. Marguerite has now been selected to represent Ireland at the Celtic Games in Scotland in the U16 Girls Discus on 1st August. Well done Marguerite!

Joe Mooney won a gold medal in the U18 Boys 5K walk, which is now his 10th national medal. Ryan Carthy Walsh won a gold medal in the U17 High Jump with a jump of 2.08m He set a new national record and his performance can be viewed on the Adamstown AC facebook page.

There were also great performances from Zara Power who narrowly missed out on a medal, she was 4th in the U16 Girls Hammer. Zara was also 7th in the U16 Girls Shot Putt. Triona Mooney came in 5th position in the U16 Girls 2K Walk, Kate Jackman who was 7th in the U14 Girls Discus, Shannon Wall who was 9th in the U17 Girls Triple Jump and the U17 Girls 100m and Clodagh Walsh who was 7th in the U17 Girls High Jump. Superb performances from all our athletes who competed over the last 2 weekends.

Best wishes from all at Adamstown AC to Ryan Carthy Walsh who is travelling to Scotland and Georgia in the coming week to represent Ireland in the High Jump.

Harvest Festival

A meeting of the Harvest Committee will take place this Thursday 23rd July in the Community Centre at 9pm. If anyone is willing to help on the Harvest day, please come along to this meeting - you will be more than welcome.

Camogie News

Well done to the U12 girls and their mentors who took part in the Camán to Croker blitz day on Tuesday July 7th. A great day was had by all the girls and supporters that travelled with them.

Well done to the u12s who had a great win over Bannow on Monday night. Hard luck to the U14s who lost out to Cloughbawn on Tuesday.

Best of luck to the U16 girls against the Duffry on Monday and also to the Intermediate women who play St. Ibars Tuesday night and Blackwater Friday night, both championship. The pitch is very busy at the minute with loads of different matches taking place. Keep an eye on our club facebook page to find out more.

THE THREE ARCHANGELS

Community Employment training was taken to a different level in Ballymurn last week when a FETAC Level 5 Chainsaw Course/Wood Sculptor Course produced "The Three ArchAngels" in our Church grounds. The training provider was FRS Training and delivered by Irish based sculptor John Hayes, "Special Branch Carvings" to 10 participants, employed by Crossabeg/Ballymurn CES Ltd under their Employment Programmes, Individual Learning Training Plan.

All participants were fully committed to this training course together with tutor John Hayes they learned the skill of correct operations, servicing and health & safety of chainsaws. The wood sculpture module of this course which was delivered by an inspired craftsman stirred their creative thinking when working on this tree trunk.

Ballymurn Tidy Towns

Tidy towns meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm weather permitting in the village. Everyone very welcome. Thanks to all the people looking after the flowers that were planted, They are looking good, a great splash of colour to enhance our village.

PILATES CLASSES

The Over the Water and Bargy Vintage Clubs had a full bus travelling to the All Ireland Vintage Day in Street, Co Wextmeath last Sunday.

Moynaltys Steam, Horse , Tractor & flail Threshings, 40th Anniversary is on Sunday 9th August. The Wexford/Wicklow Irish Society are organising a bus to this ever popular Co. Meath venue .Cost €30 which includes bus, breakfast & entry into show. For further details contact : Sean on 0876386279.

Oulart

Feast of hurling

In the semi-finals of the All County Hurling Leagues, Oulart-The Ballagh's three teams were in action over last weekend. First into the fray were the Juniors, away to Rathnure, in the Division 5 county semi-final, on Friday at 7.30pm.

On the following day, Saturday 18th July, our seniors were at home in Oulart to Faythe Harriers, in the ACHL Division 1 county semi- final.

And on Sunday 19th July, the Division 2 county semi-final, featuring Oulart-The Ballagh and HWH/Bunclody was played in Oulart. The results of these semi-finals are available in this edition's sports pages.

Great credit is due to players and their respective management teams on their consistency and progress so far in the leagues. The league finals are expected to take place on the weekend 24th/26th July with the hurling championship recommencing on weekend 14th August.

Under 21 Hurling

Our involvement in the Creane & Creane premier Under 21 hurling championship finally gets under way tonight (Tuesday 21st July) when Oulart-The Ballagh are at home to Faythe Harriers at 7.30pm.

All supporters of the Red-and-Black are encouraged to attend to cheer our youthful stars and our up-and-coming players, the majority of whom will be the backbone of our adult teams of the future. Abhallort-An Bealach Abú !

Oylegate N.S. would like to thank everyone for their support at our Bake Sale. A big THANK YOU to all the bakers and to Fr. Cogley for letting us use his house. We raised €542.49.

Oylegate N.S. Fundraising Committee would like to extend a massive thank you for all of the support received over the last year of fundraising to purchase the field beside the school. We are delighted that over our term we have paid the Parish two payments of €7,679.04 and €3,900 (end of year accounts available). As outgoing chairperson I would like to thank the Committee and all those who worked so hard with us to cover all all loan repayments to date. We look forward to supporting all future fundraising.

Text Alert

Community Alert is currently being reactivated in the Glenbrien area. Following a community meeting on June 15th a committee was elected, with Pat Sludds as Charperson, Diane Glendinning as Secretary and Theresa Shanahan as Treasurer. A number of community representatives also volunteered on the night. From Monday the 13th of July these representatives will be calling to the houses in the Parish to hand out information and registration forms.

The Committee is asking for a contribution of €20 from each household which will help in the "set up" cost of the initiative. It will also cover the cost of registering 1 mobile phone per household; each additional phone will cost €5. If you miss the Committee Rep. when they call, you may also register your phone details and pay your contribution on either of the following dates:

Monday July 27th or Wednesday July 29th from 8-9pm in The Big Tree Pub in the village.

ZUMBA CLASSES

Zumba is returning to Oylegate Community Centre. Theresa McGuinness will be starting a weekly class , commencing on June 16th and every Tuesday thereafter. Time is 10.30a.m. to 11.30a.m. Cost is € 6. Pay as you go.

GAA Lotto

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday July 8th. Cúl Camps

Registration night for Cúl Camps on Wednesday night July 22nd in the hurling firld at 6.30pm. Anyone who has registered online can collect their gear on the night and anyone who wants to register on the night will also get their gear. Anyone interested call between 6.30 and 8.00pm.

Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club will hold their annual golf classic on Friday August 28th in Wexford Golf Club.
