The St Fintans GAA Lotto now stands at €5,700 and tickets can be purchased in the local shops, club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8pm and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match 3 prize of €300 up for grabs each week and the following shared in this prize The Pettit grandchildren with the following numbers drawn 4,5,10,13. Many thanks for your continued support.

Tractor Build

A date for the diary folks. St.Fintans fundraising committee will present a "Tractor Build" in the Danby Lodge on Saturday 8th August. 4 wonder women from the Rainbow Vintage Tractor Club in Co.Cavan will build a Massey Ferguson TVO from scratch in record speed time. This really is an amazing feat not to be missed.

Tickets are available for just €5 but be quick to get yours because these are sure to move very quickly. Music on the night from Lorraine Rankin ensuring a really great night out. Due to fire and safety laws a limited number of tickets will be available so don't miss out, get yours as soon as possible. Tickets are available from Frank Staples(Snr), Shane Sinnott, Sharon Pettit, Ber Cullen, Anna Marie Redmond.

The committee are also selling Tractor Build "guess the time" lines for €2 where the person/s guessing the right time for the build will win or share €100. The lines will be on sale from many club members over the coming weeks so go on, have a wee guess.

Monster Auction

A monster auction will be held on Sunday 9th August in Kilmore National School at 2pm in aid of Kilmore Parish Church. Items for Sale include Boat, Furniture and lots of Household items etc, etc everything from an "Needle to Anchor". Viewing the morning of the Sale. For any more information Contact Anne 086 2128746.

Fixture List

The coming week is going to be a busy one for the St Fintans GAA club with the u-21 hurlers lining out on Tuesday evening July 28th in the Wexford District Roinn 1 hurling semi final, versus St Annes in Carne at 7.30PM. On Friday July 31st our junior footballers return to championship action versus St Annes in Rathangan at 7.30pm. On Saturday August 1st our senior footballers will take to the field in a round 3 championship game versus Fethard at O Kennedy park New Ross at 6pm.

Scouts

Eimear Boyd, a Rover with Kilmore Scouts, and Eoin Hickey Venturer with 2nd Wexford are off to Japan from 24th July to 9th August as part of a 330 strong contingent from Ireland. The Jamboree is taking place at Kirara-Hama, Yamaguchi City, with 147 countries and 33000 scouts represented. Eimear will be part of the Staff and Eoin a Youth Representative. It is a wonderful opportunity and would not have been possible without family, group, Scout County support and fundraising as they are both students. An experience that will stay with them forever.

There will be a fundraising cake sale tea/coffee on the Lawn after Masses in Kilmore 1&2 August and 9 Aug Mulrankin. Proceeds in aid of the Scout team which will be taking part in the National Scoutcraft Competition in Limerick 19-23 August following their win at the County Competition in June. This is the first time since 2001 that Kilmore have taken part in the Finals. Your support will be appreciated.

Ballycogley Players

Readings for the Full Length play 'The Cripple of Inishmaan" will take place on 27th & 29th July in Tomhaggard Social Centre at 8pm if anyone interested in getting involved. The play reading committee are finalising the One Acts for the Autumn season, contact Fintan 0876812690 if you are interested in reading for a part or working behind the scenes. There are plans to celebrate 40 years of drama with a function later this year and the committee would like to put together a photographic exhibition of various plays and events so if you have any photographs which they can borrow please contact Nick 0872605506

Tomhaggard Centre

A big thank you to everyone who supported the Irish Night in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Monday 20th in aid of the Social Centre. A special mention to those who supplied home baking for the refreshments, raffle prizes and the musicians.

The next fundraiser is on August 15th when Angela and Eric Byrne open their home for an Afternoon Tea Party, with cake sale, fun auction, and comedy on the lawn with Ballycogley Players. There will be a 5k Family Fun Run in Tomhaggard on Sun 23 Aug at 11am. More details closer to the event.

Underage Football

The St Fintans/Our Ladys Island u-16 football team took on last years div.1 winners Dunbrody Gales (an amalgamation of Horeswood/St James)in Ballymore during the recent past.

Having played against a strong wind in the first half the home team trailed on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-00 at the break and to make matters worse the New Ross outfit were first to score in the second half but the home team battled back with the wind behind them to score 2-07 without reply.

Though they were defeated in their attempt by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-08 they showed their fighting spirit in this half.

The St Fintans/Our Ladys Island will next play St Marys of Maudlintown to decide the quarter final line ups. On Tuesday night July 28th the u-10 football team will play Shelmaliers in Ballymore at 7pm.

Fundraising Rose

"St.Fintans Rose" will take place this coming Autumn/Winter. Our competing Roses ( all male ) will be looking for your support over the coming months with various fundraising events in the pipeline. The Grand Finale night will take place early November in the Danby Lodge Hotel.

It promises to be a night crammed with some amazing style and talents (be prepared for some incredible evening dress and swimwear costumes). We will be introducing our Roses over the coming weeks and we look forward to some great fun and laughs. Anyone interested in taking part please contact any of our fundraising committee. Launch Night

Local girl Lorraine Rankin invites us all to the Danby Lodge on Saturday August 15th at 9pm when she will launch her new CD. Why not come along to support Lorraine and enjoy a great nights entertainment by a number of different artists.

On County Team

The St Fintans GAA club had two of its members on the Wexford junior football team that travelled to Dungarvan on Saturday last to take on Kerry in the All Ireland semi Final Jim Rossitter,Donal Shanley and Conor Sinnott (who opted out on the day because of sickness)all played major roles in getting the team to the semi final but alas Kerry brought this tremendous run to an end on a scoreline of 3-13 to 2-9. Well done lads.

Leo Carthy Weekend

The 3rd Annual Leo Carthy Weekend will be held this August Bank holiday Weekend 1st and 2nd August. It will begin with an opening night on Saturday 1st August with a variety concert in Our Lady's Island Community Hall from 8.30pm with MC on the night South East Radio's Alan Corcoran, featuring: Danescastle Music Group, The Temple Michael Ceili Band, Yvette Walsh, Paula and Martin Keane, Jackie an Emma Sutherland, Our Lady's Island primary school group, Paddy Scallan and comedy with the Ballycogley players. Admin €10, OAPs €8 ( free refreshments on the night).

Sunday 2nd August: 1:30pm, 6Km Fun Run, all welcome to run or walk or scenic route. €10 registration ( free refreshments afterwards), 2pm Live music begins on the open air stage with the legendary Theresa and the Stars. The music continues all afternoon through to 7 with numerous well know local artists. There will be kids entertainment with bouncy castle and obstacle course, face painting, Duck race, also Wexford Kayak Safari will be there.

Also on the day there will be cow patty, craft stalls, BBQ and tea and refreshments. Come and enjoy a great days entertainment and support two great causes, with all proceeds going towards funding a music program in the local primary school and to support the great work of the Irish heart foundation.

niall mellon fundraiser

A night of 'Music from the 60's and 70's' will be held in the Merry Elf on Friday 7th August at 8pm. There will be plenty of craic and a raffle on the night with lots of spot prizes guaranteed. All proceeds in aid of the Niall Mellon Township Trust, a charity that has been building houses and schools in South Africa for the past 12 years. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Community Lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €5,400. The winning numbers were 4,5,10,13. Congratulations to the 5 match 3 winners who each receive €60. The winners were; Pettit Grandchildren, Kevin Corish, Ann Neville, Dermot Roche, Isaac Barry. The next jackpot stands at €5,700 and the draw will take place on Tuesday 21st July at 8.30pm.

Tractor Run/ BBQ

Rathangan pastoral council would like to thank everyone who supported and helped out at our recent tractor run/BBQ. It was greatly appreciated. The total amount raised was €1990.90. We look forward to your continued support for our annual patron and field day.

Annual Patron Mass

The annual patron mass will take place on Saturday 15th august at 2 o'clock instead of previous advertisement in the notes. Please inform any visitors coming from outside the parish . Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you.

Field Day

The field day will be held on Saturday 15th August. All the usual activities including bottle stall, book stall and cake stall. Refreshments will be served, teas, coffees and BBQ.

We are appealing for donations either monetary or produce, which would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be left in the hall, our trolley in Goldsmith's shop and in the back of the church.

We are also inviting traders to take stalls on the day, stalls cost €15 and can be booked by contacting the parish hall at 051 563039 or any member of the pastoral council. Field day tickets €2 each or book of three €5 are currently on sale from any member of the pastoral council and Goldsmith's shop in Duncormick.

Community Group

Just an up to date as to what stage we are at; Signposts etc. will be erected around the community as soon as the final stage or the text alert are completed. Once again a big thank you on behalf of the Community Alert Group.

Car Boot sale

Rathangan men's shed are having a car boot sale on Sunday 16th August 2015 in Rathangan at rear of Leo Mahers, cars and small vans €10. No large vans, booters set up from 8am, public from 9.30am to 4pm. Limited spaces. Contact 0864042052 or 0892467986.

Parish Council

Rathangan Parish Council will be looking after the maintenance of Killag and Ambrosetown graveyards in the coming days. Charity Drive A Charity Drive in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare will take place on Sunday the 9th August at 12.30pm, from Ballymagyr, Duncormick. For more information contact Paddy on 086 3344815.

School Bus

A School bus is being arranged from Duncormick/Rathangan/Bridgetown then on towards Wexford. Other areas in the locality can be discussed. Contact Padraig 085 7242385.

Tidy Towns

Duncormick Area Action Group has once again entered this year's Tidy Town's Competition with judging from June-August. We are appealing to everyone to help us in obtaining better results this year and be proud of our village. We would also like to ask everyone to use the litter bins provided in the village.

The Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles visited Druids Glen this week for our Jubilee Course and a fantastic day was had by everybody in glorious weather. John Doyle edged out Johnny Doyle for 1st place on countback and Fred Curtis coming in 3rd. Stephen Bennett also won the Birdie club on the day. A lovely meal was had afterwards in Jack Whites for everybody except the 2 who forgot to take the right exit. Now its back to the monthly competitions. Good luck all.

Forth Walking Group

The Wednesday evening walks for the month of July are as follows: 29th July-Tintern. All meetings at 7pm

Fitness Summer Camp

MACFIT PT & Fitness is running a summer camp this year in Rathangan. It is a themed sports camp to keep your little lads/ ladies fit and healthy. There will be plenty of variety for the kids. The camp is for boys & girls aged 7+. It is reasonably priced at €55. The children will be made aware of healthy eating and the choices they make along with fun and exercise elements involved. There will be discounts for multiples in the one family.

Sewing and Knitting Club

Sewing & Knitting Club would like to say thank you to everyone who bought tickets and to all the local shops and businesses who helped to sell tickets for the Cleariestown patchwork quilt. The winners were First: Margaret Codd, Second: Margaret Driscoll and Third: Maggie Whitty. The club will be back together in Cleariestown Hall in mid-September and new faces are always welcome.

A lot of planning and organising has already gone on behind the scenes, and we are now working full steam as there is more still to do!!! Volunteers still required, if you or someone you know would have some time to spare between now and the actual Steam Rally please contact anyone on the committee.
