Ballymurn Celtic

The Luca Canavan Memorial Cup match will be played on Sunday 16th August at 4pm in the soccer field. There will be refreshments and music in the Anvil lounge at 6pm. Music is by Stuart Burns all donations on the day will be given to Heart Children Ireland. All are welcome on the day. Golden Goals are back: Our weekly fund raiser is back and can be purchased by any committee member. Again thanks for your continued support.

Tidy Towns

Tidy towns meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm weather permitting in the village. Everyone very welcome. Thanks to all the people looking after the flowers that were planted, They are looking good, a great splash of colour to enhance our village. Pilates Class

A Pilates Class continues on Mondays from 10-11am in Ballymurn hall. This class is suitable for beginners, an individual class where you can progress at your own rate. Pay as you go available. Contact Debbie Murphy 0868122535.

Camogie Club News

On Monday night the U16s played Blackwater,

beating them on a scoreline of 7-9 to 1-6. This meant the girls were in a three way play off. We were first out of the draw and straight into the semi final against Slaney Gaels which took place on Wednesday night. Unfortunately the girls lost this 4-6 to 1-3 and their excellent year has come to an end. On Tuesday night the U10 girls beat Blackwater 5-3 to 2-0. Well done girls!

Thursday night saw the Intermediates take on Bunclody in the quarter final. The girls unfortunately lost out 2-6 to 1-7 after a hard fought battle.

Bree/Galbally

Bree Patron

The Annual Bree Patron with prayers and blessing of graves takes place this Sunday August 16th commencing at 1.30pm in Clonmore Cemetery followed by prayers and blessing of graves in Bree New Cemetery at 2pm and continuing onto Bree Old Cemetery (Church Grounds) at 2.30pm, concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church. All are most welcome.

Seisiún

The Comhaltas Seisiún Sessions, in association with Celtic Roots, continues in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm for the month of August. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. Cost is €10 for adults with concessions for large groups and children. For bookings and further details contact 087-7535354.

Barn Dance

A Country & Western Barn dance will be held in Garry Byrne's store on Saturday September 5th. The band on the night will be the Colonials followed by a disco til late! Don't miss a great night's fun. This year the proceeds will go towards the final refurbishment of Bree Community centre.

Bree United

The club is looking for a manager and trainers for the men's teams for the upcoming season. If you are interested please contact the club on 0868587937. The club is hoping to reintroduce underage girls teams for the upcoming season.

Depending on numbers, we hope to have teams ranging from under 10s up to ladies. We are also hoping to have two panels for men's junior league this season. Registration will be organised shortly. New members are more than welcome. Anyone interested in playing, please contact us on 0868587937.

Community Games

Best wishes to all those competing in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone this weekend. Liam Donohoe and Caoimhe Monahan take part in the individual Handwriting Competitions, Claire Whelan, Abi Cullen, Holly Furlong and Conor Dempsey take part in individual swimming events and the debating team of Sarah Byrne, Elijah Grocock, Rachel Long and Peter Rodgers take on Galway in the semi-final on the topic 'This house would lower the voting age to 15/16'.

The following weekend will be the turn of Sarah Byrne in National Solo Singing and twenty seven athletes competing in the athletics finals.

GAA News

Result of Ballyhogue GAA Club Lotto 5th AUgust: Numbers drawn were 17, 19, 28, 30.No winner and no match 3. Lucky dip winner was Jim Carberry. Next lotto draw takes place on August 19th in Byrne's of Bree at 9.30pm. Jackpot remains at a massive €10,000. Tickets are available in all local shops and from committee members. Alternatively we have launched an online lotto simply go to smartlotto.ie and find Ballyhogue GAA Club.

Bree Community Centre

Organisations using or intending to use Bree Community Centre for the resumption of activities in September are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm, book regular meetings, classes and events. This is to ensure that there are no overlaps or confusion around bookings.

Community Text Alert

We would like to thank everyone who has supported Glenbrien Community Text Alert thus far. We have had a very positive response both calling door to door and at our two registration nights. For anyone that hasn't managed to register yet and would still like to, we will be accepting registrations until Monday 10th August.

For more information on this please contact any of our committee members or our community representatives and they will be happy to help.

Over the coming weeks we will be starting to orginise signage for the community.

Zumba

Zumba classes in Oylegate Community Centre have taken a break for the month of August and will now resume on Tuesday 8th September in the community centre from 7p.m to 8 pm

Kickboxing Acadamy

There is a Fundraising Dog night in Enniscorthy on Monday 17th August to help raise funds for the members of the Dynamic Kickboxing Academy (some of them come from our very own community) who are travelling to Hungary in November to take part in the European Championships.

A great night of entertainment is guaranteed on the dog track, and the Acadamy will be doing some great demonstrations and displays on the night. Tickets are 10 Euros and children are admitted free. Lotto

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in Mernagh's Lounge, Oylegate on Wednesday July 22nd. The next draw will be held in The Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday August 5th. Tickets cost just 2euro each and are available from club members.

Golf Classic

Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club will hold their annual golf classic on Friday August 28th in Wexford Golf Club.

Half Marathon/10km run

On Sunday August 30th the GAA club will hold its annual half marathon and 10km run. You can now enter on www.runireland.ie

Our Lady's Island

The Parish pilgrimage to Our Lady's Island takes place on the Feast of the Assumption, August 15th, with Masses in Glenbrien at 9.30am & in Oylegate at 10.30am. Our Lady's Island Pilgrimage begins at 3.00pm with Blessing of the Sick.
