G.A.A. club notes

The Executive Committee of Our Lady's Island GAA Club would like to invite all members and non-members to an Information Evening on Wednesday, 18th November at 8pm in Our Lady's Island Community Centre.

The purpose of this Information meeting is to discuss any concerns or issues that you may have with regard to the proposed temporary arrangement between Our Lady's Island GAA Club and St. Fintan's GAA Club which facilitating players from Our Lady's Island GAA Club who want to play football, to do so with St. Fintan's GAA Club, and players from St. Fintan's GAA Club who want to play hurling, to do so with Our Lady's Island GAA Club.

The Coiste Na nOg structure as it stands between Our Lady's Island GAA Club and St. Fintan's GAA Club will remain as is.

Youth Club

We had our Youth Club A.G.M. last Thursday night. Very poor turnout of parents, few apologies. Youth Club is so important to our community. New Committee for the coming year are Chairperson: Mark Burke, Vice-Chair: Vinnie Myles, Secretary: Kelly-Ann Kearns, Asst. Secretary: Sharon Connick, Treasurer: Michele Dunne, Asst. Treasurer: Valerie Kearns, Child Protection: Loman Dunne. Thank you very much to the outgoing committee for all their hard work.

Old School Cards

Well done to Paul Newport and Aidan Power who won the cards on Tuesday 10th. Aidan also won the free raffle and collected the T-Bone steaks. Cards every Tuesday in the Old School Tacumshane at 8.30pm sharp, €5 entry, % of pot to winners, free raffle for all who play, tea / coffee and biscuits served. All welcome

Paisti Beaga News

Our children have been busy bees this week learning about worms and London. We are learning about worms so that we can make a wormery for our community garden because worms are very good composters.

We visited the Library bus on Tuesday and picked out some great stories. Paisti Beaga will be holding a Christmas Market on Sunday 6th December at 12 noon until 4pn with market stalls for your Christmas shopping, Mrs Claus will have her elves working hard in the christmas kitchen and there will be a very special visitor arriving. We would love to see you. We are hoping to hold a bottle stall, any donations will be gratefully accepted.

Sympathy

We extend sympathy to the Kavanagh family, Buncarrig on the unexpected death of their sister Peg, in the U.K. at the weekend.

Cooking Demonstration

A European Cooking Demonstration with Emmett Maher, head chef of the Brandon House Hotel will take place on Thursday 26th November at 7pm in St. Mary's Day Care Centre, Tagoat. Community Lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €10,200. The winning numbers were 4,15,17,24. Congratulations to the five match 3 winners who each received €60. The match three winners were; Deirdre Sinnott, Emma Bennett, Sandra Anglim, Maria Miliken, Liz Devereux. The next jackpot stands at €10,500 and the draw will take place on Tuesday 17th November at 8.30pm.

Rapunzel Fundraiser

Casey Doyle, aged 10 is donating her hair for Rapunzel Foundation and Fundraising money for Crumlin Childrens Hospital. Sponsership cards are in Geelans, Goldsmiths and all local establishments. Date of hair cut is 30th November. Please donate generously for this very worthy cause.

Christmas Tree Lights

The Christmas tree lights will be switched on in Duncormick Village on Saturday 5th December at 7pm. There will be Carols, music and light refreshments and Santa will drop by.

DRUG AWARENESS

A Drug Awareness/Information night to help people understand more about drugs and its effects will take place in Rathangan Hall on Wednesday 25th November at 7.30pm.

Speakers from HSE will be present to discuss a vast range of issues including commonly used drugs, its effects and the risks involved, signs and symptoms of drug usage and how to deal with the situation if you suspect someone has taken drugs. Drug availability is all around us and we hope the people of the Parish will avail of this opportunity to learn more about its dangers. Tea/coffee and refreshments served.

A number of flower pots have been stolen from graves in Rathangan recently. Please be vigilant and report any unusual behaviour in and around the cemetery.

Vintage Ploughing

A very successful 11th vintage ploughing match was held on Sunday 1st November at Killag on lands kindly given by the Cullen family. In all 29 tractors and 2 pairs of horses took part in all classes.

The Vintage Ploughing Club would like to thank all the participants and sponsors and all those who helped make it a success. The €3,100 proceeds from the day were presented to Wexford Hospice Homecare.
