SURF LIFESAVING

Congratulations to Glynn/Barntown's Eoghan Mahon on his call up to the Irish lifesaving squad for 2016. He had a fantastic year, working hard in both the pool and sea and is very deserving of his place. He joins Matthew Arthur, Cameron Steel and Georgina Steel who all retained their places on the 2016 squad, we wish them all the best in their training and keep our fingers crossed for them all being selected for next years World Championships in the Netherlands.

Along with Darragh Sinnott from Piercestown, these 5 swimmers have all come up through Wexford swimming Club. The club is always open to new members of all ages and standards who want to improve their swimming-see the Wexford Swimming Club website for more details.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

A date for the diary! The annual Christmas Bazaar will take place in Glynn on Sunday 13th December. Further details to follow.

KARATE & SELF DEFENCE

Our gratitude goes to Dee's Dry Cleaning & Laundry (St. Aidan's Shopping Centre) for the cleaning of the Alter Servers outfits for Barntown. It is much appreciated.

November Offerings Envelopes: During the month of November prayers are offered at all masses for those who have gone before us and our thoughts move towards those who have been experiencing the sadness of loss. Envelopes are available in the sacristy and will be collected after all masses this week-end.

Church Gate Collection: A collection for World Youth Day 2016 takes place after all masses this weekend. Your generosity would be very much appreciated.

craft Fair

The annual craft Fair is on Sunday 6th December in Murrintown Community Centre from 10am to 5pm

Come along to browse through a Wonderful array of handmade local crafts and pick up some unique Christmas gifts, enjoy a cuppa with a bite of something nice and maybe win one of our fabulous door prizes.

One of Wexford's best known craft fairs now in our 10th year running. Crafts this year include photography, wood turning, jewellery, home baking, and Christmas crafts, to name but a few and there's even an opportunity to relax with a head and shoulder massage.

Senior Citizens Party

The Senor Citizens Christmas Party will take place in the Farmers Kitchen on Sunday 6th December. A quiz to raise funds for this will take place in Jordans of Murrintown on Friday 27th November at 8.30pm.

Public Meeting

A Public Meeting will be held within next couple of weeks in St Martin's Centre Piercestown for all Piercestown/Murrintown and surrounding areas and especially those living alone to hear about re-establishing Neighbourhood Watch and investigate introducing Text Alerts on various road areas. Garda Sergeant Paddy Carley, Crime Prevention Officer, Wexford Garda Station and the Garda Team who cover our Parishes will be in attendance.

In light of all the recent robberies in nearby areas this meeting will give everyone some information on how we can secure our home and property and feel safe ourselves within our own homes. Date will be circulated when confirmed.

Scout Group news

A big thank you to everyone who helped the Group with their Fundraising event at Pettits Supervalue Wexford 29-31 Oct. to Padraig Doran at Pettits for his assistance in providing availability to our group,

To the parents, leaders and boys and committee members who helped sell lines, 'man the desk' at Pettits thank you very much. It was 2 years since we held this event previously. The amount raised allows us to purchase a Mess Tent, 3 mountain Vango tents, cooker, storage unit and benches for use within the group.

SCOUT CHRISTMAS DRAW TICKETS ON SALE: Our Annual Christmas Draw tickets are out now and your support in selling and buying tickets (book of 3 for €2.00) will be very much appreciated 7 good prizes, funds raised will be used to subsidize Annual Camp for all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Our Thrift Fund (Savings club) will be paid out first week in December.

SCOUT THRIFT FUND SAVINGS FUND: All boys and parents family members or friends maybe would consider saving in our Thrift fund as this is our second Annual Fundraising activity during the year. All monies raised here goes towards the running of the troop, paying for leaders training, weekly equipment needs for all sections, and all other needs of the group throughout the year. It is also a great way for boys to save for Camp and for adults to save for Christmas. Your support is very much appreciated.

SCOUT ANNUAL CAMPS FOR 2016: Cubs are planning to attend National Event Jamoige in Limerick next June deposit of €50 required now to confirm numbers please. Scouts are looking at a trip to Kerry next summer so saving in Thrift Fund for camp cost and spending money would be a great idea.

Camross ICA

Congrats to Camross ICA on receiving a Highly Commended Award in Best Heritage, Preservation and Conservation Project at Keep Wexford Beautiful Environment Awards 2015 held in Ferrycarrig Hotel on Monday 9th November. The ICA project involved was the Rockery and surrounds situated in the upper corner of Camross Hall carpark. Plans are afoot for further development in spring 2016.

Dancing at Camross

Glen Flynn will have all our patrons dancing the night away at the December dance which will be held on the First Friday, 4th December. A Jiving competition will be held at the event with couples selected going forward to compete in National Final. Admission is €8 incl. The Tea.

Taghmon ICA

The November meeting of Taghmon ICA on Wednesday 18th will be an open meeting. The talk will be on Crime Prevention in Rural Areas and will be given by Sergeant Paddy Carley, Crime Prevention Officer. The meeting starts at 8pm sharp in the Scout Hall. All are welcome.

athletics club

Well done to our 5 athletes who ran in the awful weather for the uneven ages cross country in JFK park. Flora Doran ran an age up U13's and came home 13th for Wexford and Aisling Kelly also U13's was 9th home for Wexford in the same race. Hannah Roche Kelly U15's had a good run in the heavy conditions finishing 1st for Wexford. James Hanlon U15 was 10th home for Wexford and his brother Joseph Hanlon U17's came home 4th for Wexford. Both running up an age in the age categories.

Well done to all athletes competing on the day and not letting the weather discourage any of you. The club is very proud of your determination and efforts.

Badminton

Taghmon was represented at the Leinster U13 Yonex Open by Paddy Nolan. In the Singles Paddy reached the quarter finals. He was very unlucky to meet the number one seed and eventual winner of the Singles. In the Boys Doubles Paddy and partner put on a magnificent display knocking out the number one seeds to reach the finals. They took the runners up spot in the final. Paddy and partner also reached the quarter finals of the mixed doubles. Well done young Paddy. The club is very proud of you.

Paddy has also been selected to train with the Leinster U12 Squad and the Irish U13 Squad This is a great achievement and shows that the club continues to produce talented players. You are following in the footsteps of the Club's finest/highest achievers.

Adult County Team training is on Friday nights at 8.30 p.m. in Ramsgrange. All are welcome to attend.

Caroreigh Parents Council are holding a Table Quiz in Rochford's Lounge, Camross on Thursday 26th November at 8pm. Teams of 4 are €20. It will be a fun night and we would appreciate your support.

gaa club notes

Well done to our U21 footballers over the weekend who beat Horeswood 6-10 to 1-06 in the District semi final. They now meet St James in the District final on this Saturday at 3pm in Kennedy Park, New Ross. Plenty of support welcome.

The Taghmon's Got Talent night will be on in the Community Center this Saturday night 21st at 9.30, when the GAA club and friends put on music,song and comedy acts, please come on in for a great nights entertainment .

The Club Lotto takes place this Tuesday night in Granstown when the Jackpot will be €10,100, please have your tickets in the Center at 7.30.

Coiste Na nOg

All our young players are invited to attend our Medal Presentation Night in the Clubhouse at 6.30-8.45pm on Friday 20th November.
