The All-Ireland Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships took place in Dungarvan on Sunday 6th December. Adamstown Athletic Club was represented by 4 athletes-Niamh English, Grainne English, Luke Byrne, and Robert Wall. Well done to all the athletes who ran brilliantly and represented their club with pride!
Well done to all the athletes who recently competed in the Secondary Schools Cross Country. Kate Jackman was 1st in the Junior Girls race representing her school St. Marys New Ross, Annalise Crean and Mairead Crean were 4th and 6th respectively in the Intermediate Girls race representing Colaiste Brid and Luke Byrne was 1st in the Junior Boys representing Good Counsel New Ross. Well done to all the athletes that competed at this event.
Adamstown Athletic Club will have their annual awards night in the Community Centre on Sunday 3rd January 2016. The club are hosting a fashion show in the Horse and Hound on Friday February 19th 2016. Tickets will be on sale shortly.
Adamstown Community Centre Committee would like to thank the Adamstown ICA Guild for their efforts recently to help raise much needed fund for the Centre. The ICA Guide held a sponsored walk and a Craft Display at the centre on the 1st November and raised a total of €1,650 this was an amazing achievement and the centre committee would again like to express their thanks. The Funds raised will be used to upgrade the kitchen at the centre.
Denny Nolan R.I.P.
Our condolence to Mary Nolan & Family, Camross on the death of Mary's father Denny who died on Friday 4th December, he had been in failing health for some time. Sympathy also to his wife Mai, his sons Jay & Robert, daughters Helen, Mary, Rita & Kay. His grandchildren & great grandchildren, to his godmother Ms Katie Nolan 107 one of the oldest living persons in Ireland. His burial took place in Kilgarvan Cemetary on Sunday 6th December. May He Rest In Peace.
The Adamstown Prayer Group has closed for the Christmas and will resume again on 10th January 2016.
Senior Citizens party
The Bree Macra Senior Citizens Party is back with a difference this year. The group will host a Senior Citizens Tea Party complete with tea, cake, chat and entertainment on Sunday January 3rd from 2-4pm in Bree Community Centre. Bree Macra members will be delivering invites in the coming weeks.
Carol Singing for HOPE
Members of Bree Youth Club will sing Christmas carols after 7pm Mass in Bree on Saturday December 19th. This is their Annual fundraiser for the Hope Cancer Support Centre so please come join them and support this very worthy cause.
St Vincent De Paul
Thanks to all who supported the St Vincent De Paul collection in the parish recently.
Bree Youth Club
Eighty senior members of Bree Youth Club enjoyed a very successful sleepover night recently where they spent the night watching movies, listening to music and enjoying the plentiful supply of chips, pizzas, milkshakes, hot chocolate and crepes served up by the busy band of leaders.
It is hoped to have another sleepover before the end of the club year. On the same night junior members travelled to Leisuremax for their Christmas outing where they enjoyed a night of bowling and some other activities. The final club night before Christmas will take place on Friday 18th December.
Bree Parish Journal
Bree Parish Journal No 17 will be available in all local shops from this weekend costing €8 each. The Journal reviews all the activities of the various organisations in the parish over the past two years and also includes a number of items of historical interest. A great read over the Christmas season.
There will be youth club in the Oylegate community centre on this Friday evening December 18th from 8.00 to 10.00pm and the supervisors for the evening are Johnny Reck, Mary Frost, Jimmy Freeman, Lorraine Kinsella, Peader O'Mahoney, and Rosari Fitzgerald

Charity Christmas Cards
Christmas cards showing various scenes from Oylegate are now on sale. All the proceeds from the sale of these Christmas cards, are going directly towards the provision of a car park, for the children of Oylegate National School. Packs of cards may be purchased from Freeman's shop Oylegate. Your kind support would be much appreciated.

Tom Ryan r.i.p.
Oylegate community and surrounding areas were saddened to hear of the death of Tom Ryan, Tinnahask, Oylegate on Saturday December 5th. His remains were removed to St David's Church Oylegate on Monday Evening last and internment in the adjoining cemetery followed 12 noon mass on Tuesday.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, son, daughter, brothers, grandchildren other relatives and friends. May he Rest in Peace.
Oylegate ICA will hold a coffee morning and Craft sale in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate on Thursday December 17th at 11.00am. All support would be greatly appreciated.
The Parents Association of Oylegate National School thank most kindly all those who supported their cake sale at last weekend's Christmas Craft Fair. A total of €884.59 was raised. A huge thank you to all who helped and supported in any way.
Thanks to all those who took part in the Craft Fair in the Community Centre last weekend-what an amazing display of talent! Thanks also to those who prepared the hall, sold tickets, took entry fees, served teas or helped out in any way. A total of €500 was raised.
Note: A pair of reading glasses was found in the hall afterwards. Owner is asked to contact the parish office.
Parish Draw Results
The lucky winners of the parish draw for November were: €200: John Nolan, and €50 each: Eithne Murphy, John & Marian Doyle, Mary Byrne, and Willie Kavanagh.
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in Mernagh's Lounge, Oylegate on Wednesday December 9th. The lucky dip winners were Margaret McGuinness, Billy Reck, Claire Fogarty, Tess Shiggins, Angela Shiggins, Eamon Hogan, Theresa Hayden and Sean Quirke. The next draw will be held in the Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday December 23rd. Tickets cost just €2 each and are available from club members.
The GAA and Camogie club will hold their Christmas draw in Clayton Whites Hotel on Monday December 21st with a prize fund of €8,000. Refreshments will be served from 7.30 with the big draw at 9pm. All welcome to come along. Many thanks to the ticket sellers and those who bought them. Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and all the best for 2016.
Oylegate Parent and Toddler Group meet every Wednesday in Oylegate National School, from 9.20am-11.00am, for children from birth to 5 years. There is no charge and parents/guardians supervise their own children. New members are most welcome.
There will be a Public Meeting in Oylegate Community Centre on Thursday December 17th at 8.00 p.m. The Agenda will include the following:
1. Improving Security and vigilance in light of so many recent burglaries in the area. 2. Financing of the Bank Loan taken out on behalf of the School for the purchase of the field adjacent to the school and updating of developments in relation to same. 3. Information on developments in relation to the sale of the Old Hall. 4. Election of New Members onto Parish Steering Committee. 5. Provision of Cardiac Defibrillator at Central Location.
In order that this meeting be as representative as possible you are asked to take part and to give the above matters your serious consideration.
Personal/socially monitored alarms can save your life in the event of an accident, fall or any other emergency. They can be pressed in any situation when you need help or cannot get to a telephone. They then contact the company who first ring you to see it it was hit by mistake before contacting your selected contacts e.g. son/daughter or a neighbour.
Socially monitored alarms are available to people over the age of 65, either living on their own or with someone of the same age bracket, through the Seniors Alert Scheme. Grants are available for these systems meaning that you just have to pay an annual monitoring fee of €66.

Zumba fitness classes are held in Oylegate Community Centre on Wednesday evenings from 7p.m. to 8p.m. Come and party yourself into shape with this latin inspired easy to follow, dance fitness party. €6 euro per class, which is payable on the night. Please note mass times in Oylegate: Saturday vigil mass is at 6.30pm. Sunday morning mass is at 10.30am.
