Handball Club

Twin sisters are County Champions, April and Emily Moran won theU-13 Doubles Co Championship recently defeating Danielle Kinsella and Becky O'Neill in an all Ballymitty Club Final. This adds to Aprils Singles title won earlier. Niamh Millar is the girls U-14 County Champion.

The boys didn't fair as well with Cathal Cummins boys U-13 Singles and Dean O'Neill and Dylan Scott boys U-14 Doubles and James Murphy and Robert Cogley boys U-16 Doubles having to settle for runner up medals. This finishes off a good 2015 for our Juveniles with lots of medals in both 60 x 30 and 40 x 20 codes and Danielle Kinsella winning Leinster and Dean O'Neill winning Leinster and All Ireland Medals.

The boys and girls tournament finals are on tonight 19th January in Ballymitty starting at 7pm. Please some along and support. Tea and refreshments are served.

Dancing

Social dancing continues every Thursday night in Tir na nOG to raise funds for the building of a 40 x 20 Ball alley in Ballymitty with work to start sometime this year

Deepest Sympathy

Sympathy is expressed to Jimmy Neville and Family on the recent passing of his mother Peg Neville, Danescastle. Peg was in her 87th year. Her remains were taken to Carrig Church and laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Corach Ramblers FC

Corach Ramblers 'Split the Pot' took place in Doyle's Pub, Carrig on Bannow. The winning ticket was drawn by Moss Doyle and the winner was Rachel Kumar. She won a massive €833. Well done Rachel.

The draws will take place in the following places over the coming weeks: Sunday 24th-Colfers, Carrig on Bannow Sunday 31st-Staffords, Tullycanna Sunday 7th-Breens of the Dirr Sunday 14th-Tir na nOg, Wellington Bridge Sunday 21st-Doyle's Pub, Carrig on Bannow Sunday 28th-The Atlantic Bar, Cullenstown.

The Corach Ramblers Christmas Raffle will take place Sunday 24th in Colfers Pub, Carrig on Bannow. Tickets can be bought and returned in Breda's Corner Shop, Carrig on Bannow. The club would like to apologise for the late draw this year but this was due to the poor weather conditions and no soccer matches over the last 6 weeks. We thank you for your continued support.

GAA club news

The lotto Jackpot stands at 11,300 for the next draw on Tuesday 26th January in the Complex. Last lotto numbers were 7,18,23 and 24 and we had two winners of match three numbers. Well done to Geraldine Sinnott and Paddy Sinnott. Tickets can be purchased from Carrig post Office, Seabreeze Laundrette Carrig ,Tir Na Nog Wellington Bridge or any Club Officer.

Membership for the coming season is as follows Player/Family €90, Student €50, Non Player €40, U18-u16 €30 and u16-u6 €20. At the Agm it was decided that membership is to be paid up before 29th February at those prices.

Between 1st and 31st March ALL Adult membership will go up by €10 and All underage will be an extra €. Deadline for membership is 31st March.

2015 was a great year for the Club in both adult and underage. The Junior Ladies football squad won the County Final. Intermediate football team got to a County Final as well as the Junior Ladies Camogie team. The Junior Footballers travelled to Cushinstown for their District Finsl while the Junior Hurlers ended their year in the quarter finals.

On Saturday 13th February the Club will celebrate with a Dinner Dance and Medal presentation in th Riverbank Wexford.Get the frocks ready Ladies and get the lads ties ironed forwhat should be a great night.

Tickets 35 euro each for a three course meal and a DJ and can be purchased from Bidina O Sullivan ,Joeanne Roche, Suzanne Scott and Pauline Fitzharris. Checkout the Facebook page for more information as we ll be in Grantstown selling on certain days.

A Table Quiz will be held on Friday 5th February in the clubhouse at 8.30pm. Teams of 4 at €20. Quiz Masters -Dermot Rafter and Martin Fenlon. Please come along what promises to be a fun filled evening.

The first round of the Jim Byrne cup went ahead on Sunday v Sarsfields in Pairc Carman. Our boys worked hard but were defeated despite some solid free taking from Dan O'Regan.

A lovely evening was had by all who attended the annual Senior Citizens Party in the clubhouse on Sunday evening. Camross Macra elected club Officers, Chair, Martin Whitty, Secretary, Kieran Banville, Treasurer, Ciaran Coady, PRO, Victoria King along with Sarah Campbell as vice Chair & Padraic Ryan assistant secretary.

The club will meet in Camross Hall this Wednesday 20th January at 8.30pm for indoor soccer, all are welcome to attend. The club is heading to Jordans of Ballindanggin this Friday 22nd January to support the local club in their fundraiser for the SVP, starting at 8.30pm.

Dancing at Camross

The February dance will be held on Friday 4th February with music by Checkers, dancing from 10pm to 12 midnight. Admission is €8 including The Tea. Come along and enjoy a great night of dancing to the ever popular Checkers.

Camross ICA

Dympna Kelly presided over the January ICA meeting, held in Camross Hall on Monday 11th Janaury. Sympathies were extended to The McLoughlin family on the recent passing of Ann, a former member of the guild, also to Margt Kelly and Mary Margt Roche on their recent bereavements.

Minutes, Correspondence and Finance were dealt with by, Margt O'Gorman, Poulpeasty, Breda Banville and Margt O'Gorman, Caro.

A craft class with Mairead O'Gorman will commence this Wednesday 20th January at 7.30pm.

Nine members visited St. Johns Hospital, Enniscorthy, on Sunday last and entertained the residents with their singing.

The guild will host an Irish Night in Rochfords Lounge, Camross on Saturday 19th March. Members were encouraged to enter some of the National competitions, and the Table quiz team was selected. Gerald Kelly was congratulated on winning All Ireland Barley competition. Peggy Doyle was winner of the nicest vase and raffle winners were Berna Cadogan and Mary Nolan. Delicious tea was served by Ann O'Gorman and Esther Rynhart.

Fun Bingo followed the meeting and successful players were Margt Kelly, Peggy Doyle, Margt O'Gorman, Poulpeasty, Breda Banville, Mary Nolan, Berna Cadogan, Alice Whitty, Esther Rynhart and Mary Margt Roche. Thanks to Dympna Kelly and Margt O'Gorman, Caro for organising the event.

The February meeting will be held on Monday 1st February in Camross Hall, 8pm and Margaret O'Gorman will teach all present how to make St. Bridget crosses after the meeting, members are to bring 20 rushes each. New members will be very welcome.

Our Lotto Jackpot was'nt won last week, the winning numbers were 7, 18, 23, and 24, there were five match 3 winners, John Kavanagh Camross, Majella Colfer Trinity, Frank & Anna Stafford Poulmarle, Geraldine Sinnott Bannow Moor and Paddy Sinnott Bannow Moor. The next Lotto draw will be on next Tuesday night 26th in Granstown , when the Jackpot will be €11,300.

Our Minor football team had a good start to the season winning there first game in the Byrne Cup, beating St Marys Maudlintown 3-05 to 0-4.

Our County semi final in U21 football now looks likely to be played weekend of 30th January against Gorey district winners (weather permitting).

Coiste na nog

Registration night for Coiste na nOg will take place on Friday night January 29th in the Clubhouse Bar at 6.30pm to 7:30pm for all age groups U8-U18. All new members welcome. Any parent wishing to register their child(6 years and over) for the 1st time please bring a copy of their birth certificate.

IMPORTANT: Due to Insurance Regulations all players have to pay this fee before they play. Family Membership is €80, Students/Child €30.

camogie news

Taghmon Camross Camogie club are looking for new members at both u12 and u16 level. It is vital that we have good numbers at these age groups to secure the future of the club. Please contact Kathleen on 086 3558426 for more information.

For all the artists in the parish start practicing, art and handwriting will be in March. Swimming and quiz are also on in March. Drama and solo singing will follow in April. Castle Vintage Club held their annual AGM in the Scout Hall, Taghmon last Friday night. Officers elected as follows: Chairman-Pat Monaghan; Vice Chairman-Martin Dunne; Secretary-Davie Maher; Vice Secretary-John Whitney; Treasurer-Karl Winters; Vice Treasurer-John Murphy; PRO-PJ Williams; Route Organiser-Noel Wall; Safety Officer-Paddy McCrea. Committee Members-Mick Foley, James Whitty and Ollie Cadogan.

We would also like to thank the outgoing secretary Mary White for all her hard work over the years. Any members wishing to travel on the May Bank Holiday 3 day run please attend the next meeting. Also, membership will be taken on the night.
