GAA Lotto

The St Fintans GAA lotto now stands at €13,500 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8pm and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match three prize of €300 up for grabs each week and the following shared in this prize last week. National Club Draw

The G.A.A. National Club Draw is an annual event with tickets now available. Prizes include a new Opel Corsa car, a trip with the 2015 All Stars, Travel voucher, corporate football and hurling packages, All Ireland Final tickets, €1,000 shopping vouchers etc etc. Tickets are €10 each (all monies retained by the club) and are available from all club players. Tickets must be returned to Croke Park by Friday 13th February so be sure to get yours as soon as possible.

Fight Night

St.Fintans V Kilmore big "Fight Night" fundraiser will take place this coming March. Keep an eye out here for ticket details and other information as it becomes available.

gaa Club Membership

Club membership for 2016 is now open. Non player membership is €30 and is payable to Club Secretary Sharon Pettit or Club Treasurer Nicky Newport. Membership is registered directly with Croke Park with all paid members being allocated a personal membership number and card. Membership registration deadine is March 31st. Only members registered by this date are entitled to vote at A.G.M or any other significant club meeting.

Community Survey

Following a public meeting in November 2015 to discuss the future of Ballycogley Community Hall, a committee was elected to establish the needs and the wants of the parish. The committee is now undertaking a survey of families in the parish to gather information. This is now available online and in all good retail outlets around the parish.

St Fintan's N.S

Mayglass N.S. are now taking enrolments for 2016. If you are considering sending your child to Mayglass School there will be an information and enrolment evening in the school on Tuesday 23rd of February at 7pm, all are welcome to attend.

Internet Classes

Free basic internet classes will be run once again across the county and priority will be given to those over 55 and unemployed people with no internet skills. For further information please contact Kristin on 0539123799 ext 138.

Under 21 Football

Two St. Fintans players Jim Rossiter and Donal Shanley were two star players on the Wexford U-21 football team which lost out by the narrowest of margins to Kildare in the semi-final of the Peter McNulty U-21 football tournament. In a game played in Hawkfield Donal contributed 8pts to the final scoreline of 2-10 while Jim gave a sterling display at full back. Though Donal scored 8pts he was also a major contributor to a first half goal which was scored by Sean Ryan. The St. Fintans club is proud of its two star players.

Table Quiz

The Ballycogley players will perform at this years Wexford drama festival and will therefore support the festivals fundraising table quiz which will be held in the Harbour Boat and Tennis club on Friday February 5th at 9pm. A table of four will cost €40.

Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated on a two year cycle and this year it will be celebrated in Ballymore church on April 13th at 11am. Bishop Denis will confirm the thirty children from 5th and 6th classes of Mayglass school who have been preparing for quite some time for this Holy sacrament. We wish them all well and look forward to a pleasant day.

Feast Of St Blaise

The Feast Of St Blaise will be celebrated on Wednesday February 3rd and the blessing of the throats will take place after 9.40am mass in Ballymore. The following week February 10th is Ash Wednesday,the beginning of Lent and blessed ashes will be distributed at the 9.40am mass in Ballymore and at the 7.30pm in Mayglass.

Schools Football

St.Fintans players Emily Coakley and Aisling Gouldson played major roles in Loreto Wexford defeating Moate CS in the leinster schools ladies football junior B championship final played in Geraldine Park Athy during the recent past. This was a stroll in the park for the Wexford outfit as the final scoreline of 3-13 to 1-04 would suggest and of that tally Emily scored 3-07 of which 3-04 came from play and Aisling was also on the score sheet scoring a point and this from her position in midfeild. Emily received the Player of the Match reward for her stunning display and this following her reward of the Leinster young player of the year trophy. Well done girls.

Mayglass N.S.

The parents association of St Fintans N.S Mayglass are hosting a Spring Fair And Wellness Day on February 28th from 11am-6pm in Danby Lodge Hotel. Entry €5. Holistic therapies available including massage, reiki, allergy testing, reflexology, angel therapy and many more, all treatments €10 only. There will be a wide variety of craft & entertainment stands also. Full list of therapies available on our Facebook page. All proceeds raised going towards the development of the school.

Scouts

Our Patrol Leaders and Ventures attended a Skills training course in Carne this weekend. They will then bring the skills back to the group where they will help upskill the rest of the scouts. All sections are busy with their programmes at present. Date for your diary. breakfast morning in Kilmore hall on Sunday March 6th.

Drama

The Ballycogley Players will present this years festival play 'The Cripple Of Inismaan' by Martin McDonagh in St Michaels hall on February 19th and 20th at 8.30pm. This is a play full of drama and comedy and is set on a remote island off the West coast of Ireland in 1934. Admission is €10.

A Night by The Fire

All roads lead to Tacumshane Old School this Friday, 5th Feb. for an evening of local story telling, musicians and singers,commencing at 8p.m. for a 1 hour impromptu session in the warm cosy mood-lit hall. So come along dust off the new year cob-webs and experience a relaxed evening with a difference. Free admission all welcome, tea coffee + biscuits at 1/2 time interval.

I.C.A. guild

The first meeting of Our Lady's Island I.C.A. for 2016 will take place on Monday next, 8th February at 7.30p.m. in the Community Hall. The competition is for the 'oldest coin'. All are welcome.

Sick Calls

Fr. Nolan will visit the sick of all Tacumshane, Allenstown, Broadway & Grange this Thursday following 10am. Mass in O.L.I. On First Friday he will visit all other Island areas after 9.30a.m. Mass at Tacumshane

G.A.A Club AGM

Our Lady's Island G.A.A.Club Annual General Meeting convened on Sunday,17th January for the purpose of reviewing the year past including the Club's finances, membership, planning for the year ahead and election of officers for 2016.

The election of officers began with Eamon Devereux retaining his position as Club Chairman. Also reinstated were Nicky Keane Vice Chairman, Ger Carthy Treasurer and Rosaleen Keegan Secretary. Davy Corish was elected as PRO, Ger Carthy as County Board Rep and Sean Carthy as Child Protection Officer. Padraig Power and Kevin Kehoe were elected to the Executive Committee. Eddie Maloney will again take charge of the Intermediate hurling team for the coming season and we are looking forward to a very competitative season in 2016.

G.A.A. Membership

Club membership fees for 2016 are now due. Club membership rates for 2016 are €80 for players, €50 for students and €40 for non players. Players are reminded that they are only covered by the G.A.A.

Insurance,should they receive an injury in training or in a match, if they are fully paid up members. Membership is to be paid to Club Secretary Rosaleen Keegan by 31st March 2016. Anyone who wants to pay by direct debit contact Rosaleen Keegan for the relevant forms. Strollers/Striders

Operation Transformation

Following the success of Operation Transformation in 2015, St. Anne's Coiste na nOg are running Operation Transformation again this year. An 8 week programme to improve your fitness & maybe lose some weight. Commencing tomorrow Monday 4th January with our information night until 29th February.

There will be a one night per week group walking/jogging nights and Building up to a 5/10 km Walk/Run on weekend of 5th/6th March. There will be a Nutritional talk during programme also step monitors available for all participants. The programme is open to men and ladies. Each participant will receive a sponsorship card as this is the Coiste Club main Fundraiser for the year.

From Saturday 13th February the Credit Unions Loan Officer will be available from 14:00 to 17:30. All loans will be processed on a Saturday from this date. Loan will not be processed on a Thursday night from Thursday 11th February.
