The weekly '30 Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 26th February at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Friday 26th will be: Nancy Walsh, Kathleen O'Connor, Catherine Moore & Tina Whelan. On Fri 4th March will be: Liz Furlong, Ellie Walsh & Stella Delaney. On Friday 11th will be: Ann Marie Mackey, Ann Redmond & Mary Furlong. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

23 of our athletes travelled to the Juvenile Leinster Indoor Championships in A.I.T. Athlone last weekend. They included Kate Jackman, Aoibhinn Crean, Mairead Crean, Annalise Crean, Niamh English, Katie English, Abbie Carthy Walsh, Ryan Carthy Walsh, Joe Mooney, Ciara Mooney, Triona Mooney, Marguerite Furlong, Shannon Wall, Ben Wall, Craig Wall, Robert Wall, Grace Cloney, Ellie Cloney, Clodagh Walsh, Tara Doyle, Luke Byrne, Rachel Power and Laurence Power.
Well done to all our athletes who competed against the best athletes in Leinster. The athletes managed to win 8 medals over the 2 days of competition, Ryan Carthy Walsh 1st in the U18 Boys High Jump, 1st in the U18 Boys Triple Jump and 2nd in the U18 Boys Long Jump, Joe Mooney 1st in the U19 Boys Walk, Marguerite Furlong 1st in the U17 Girls Shot Putt, Triona Mooney 3rd in the U17 Girls Walk, Grace Cloney 3rd in the U16 Girls Triple Jump and Shannon Wall 3rd in the U18 Girls Triple Jump.
There was some great performances from each of the athletes in their events. Best of luck to the athletes competing in Day 3 of this event on the 5th March and also to the athletes competing in the Senior/Junior Leinster Indoor Championships on 27/28th February.
Mass at Mass Rock
Mass will be celebrated at Carrigbyrne Mass Rock at 2pm this Tuesday February 23rd (weather permitting) and will be filmed as part of an RTE documentary with Gay Byrne, who will be in attendance. Many people from Newbawn, Adamstown, Raheen and surrounding areas have signed up for the local version of Operation Transformation that is now in full swing each Thursday night. The programme continues for the next eight weeks and hopefully much of the unwanted weight will be shed. The event consists of mixed teams of four, and also some individual participants.
There will be valuable prizes of the biggest team losers and for the biggest individual weight loser. Apart from everything else the programme is to provide plenty of good fun and "craic" with such activities as line dancing, nutrition talks, yoga, and mediation with a special emphasis on weight loss and exercise. The event is broadly based in the TV programme with a nurse and other well-known advisers contributing to the weekly sessions. Easter Choir Practice
Easter Choir Practice for Bree Church starts this Tuesday February 23rd with gentlemen's practice at 6.45pm and ladies practice at 7.45pm. Practice will take place in the Church. All are welcome.

Bree Athletic Club
Indoor training for the younger age groups on Thursday evenings in Bree Community Centre at 7pm and for the older age group at 7.45pm. Outdoor training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evenings in the field. High Jump training takes place in Galbally Hall on Saturday nights at 7pm. Registration fees are now due. There will be no indoor training for the younger group (7-7.45pm session) on Thursday 25th February.

The Galbally Annual Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on Sunday, 29th May.
Bree Youth Club
Please note that there will be no Youth Club on Friday 26th February as voting for the General Election will be taking place in Bree Community Centre.
ballyhogue GAA news
The final 2016 Biggest Loser event is the Bog Run (Byrne's Bog), Weigh out and closing event this Saturday 27th February. It's a day not to be missed. Training for the event continues to take place on Tuesdays with Una Doyle and Thursdays with Johnny Roche from 7.30pm at the GAA Grounds.
Well done to the U21 Football team who became the first team to win an U21 title in the club's history as they beat Taghmon Camross in the County Final on a scoreline of 1.14 to 0.7 in Patrick's Park.
Intermediate and junior football training has commenced. Training is on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7:15 for all who are interested.
Ballyhogue GAA club lotto results on 17th February were 9, 23, 26, 29. There were no winners. Match 3 winners were Helen Dempsey and Harry McCormack. The lotto jackpot still has €10,000 up for grabs.

As the Community Centre will be used as the Polling Station for the General Election on Friday next, 26th February, Bree CEP Office will be closed.

Junior football training on Friday nights from 8 to 9 pm and hurling training Thursday nights in Saint Peter's 8 to 9pm. The underage coaching continues for boys and girls in Saint Peter's for U6's and U8's from 6 to 7pm, and U10's and U12's from 7 to 8pm, all are welcome.

Camross Drama Group
Rehearsals continue for the cast of our 3 Act Play, 'It's the Real McCoy' by Tommy Marren. The sympathy of the community is extended to Eithne Dunne and family, Garra, Oulart on the recent death of her father, the late Paddy Sinnott, Kilmuckridge. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Oulart Active Retirement Group will go for lunch in The Courtyard, Ferns on Thursday 25th February, meeting there at 1pm. People who need transport should be at Oulart Community Centre at 12 noon. The Group also intends pursuing a walking programme when the weather becomes a little more encouraging.
In April it is planned to go on a day trip to Kilmokea Country Manor and Gardens and also to visit Tintern Abbey. Exact details will be available later. In late May a visit to the Great Saltee Island is on the programme, with opportunities to view the wonderful array of sea birds in their natural nesting habitat and enjoy the cliff scenery of the island.
Active Retirement Bowls continue in Oulart Community Centre every Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm, and every Thursday from 10am to 12 noon.

The All Co. Hurling Leagues will begin on the weekend 13th March. Oulart-The Ballagh senior team are in a group comprising Ferns St. Aidan's, Buffers Alley, Naomh Éanna, Cloughbawn and Rapparees.
Our Intermediate team will play Askamore, Ballygarrett, Craanford, Bunclody and Monageer/Boolavogue. Our Junior team will play Buffers Alley, Duffry Rovers, Monageer/Boolavogue, Bunclody and Cloughbawn

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA & Camogie will hold their Dinner Dance and presentation of medals on Easter Sunday night. What a wonderful night of celebration that promises to be, with the hurlers and camogie players being feted for their fantastic achievements in 2015.
So everyone in the parish is encouraged to attend the Dinner Dance on Easter Sunday night, in The Riverside Park Hotel because our players are great ambassadors for our community and our leaders for the future. They are shining examples of what can be achieved through team-work, dedication and determination.
Parents/Guardians who intend starting their Junior Infants in Oulart National School in September 2016 are asked to collect an enrolment form from the School Office (9am-3pm) and return the completed form no later than 1st March. Parents/guardians are requested to register their children as soon as possible.

The last night for Camogie and G.A.A. Coiste na nÓg registration is Friday 4th March, (7.30pm to 8.30pm), in the G.A.A. Upper Complex All age groups from U6 to adult are welcome to attend and join our very progressive clubs.
St. Cormac's soccer club is organising a talent competition. It will consist of three heats with the first starting in The Harrow on Friday 4th March at 9.00pm.
There will be nine acts per night and the club hopes it will feature singers, musicians, bands, stand-up and sit-down comedians, jugglers, a magician or two and even someone reciting poetry. The top three acts will proceed to the final. The door charge for this fabulous entertainment is only €5.
The second heat will be held on Lawless's bar, Monamolin, on the following Friday 11th March and the third round will be held in the Hill Top bar in Oulart on Friday 18th.
The final will be hosted in the Harrow on Sunday 27th when the €200 first prize will be awarded.
