Gaa Notes

Our minor footballers will play Ballyhogue away in the first round of the championship on Sunday 28th February at 11.00am.

In the first round of the League our Intermediate footballers will play Geraldine O=92Hanrahans at home on Saturday 5th March at 4.00pm. While the Junior B footballers will play Kilmore, at home on Sunday 6th at 2.00pm.

The under age section of the club will hold registration nights this weekend, on Saturday night in Ballymurn Hall at 8.30pm and on Sunday night in the Forge Crossabeg at 7pm. Adult memberships are also now due.

Operation Transformation

Operation Transformation is continuing every Tuesday evening in Crossabeg Community Field at 7pm. It's still not too late to join in, so come along and help to improve the fitness of the community. #betweenthebells

An extra event is taking place next Sunday 28th in Ballymurn GAA Pitch with a walk/jog/run/cycle around the block starting at 12.30. There is no charge for this event and it's open to everyone. We will have Stewards on every crossroads etc.

Ladies football

It's coming to that time of the year when competitions will be starting in the coming weeks. With that in mind most teams are back in the field training.

The Adult teams are in Ballymurn on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm. All new and past players are welcome. The U-14's started back last Sunday and they are continuing every Wednesday in Ballymurn from 6.30 to 7.30pm. The U-12 training will recommence on Sunday 13th March in Crossabeg pitch at 11am.

Ballymurn Hall Committee are holding fundraisers to purchase a Defibrillator for our community: QUIZ NIGHT in the Anvil Lounge on Friday 1st April; BINGO NIGHT in Ballymurn Hall on Thursday 28th April. Your support for this very important lifesaving equipment would be much appreciated by all

There will be no Youthclub next Friday night due to the Election however we will be in the club house from 8pm-9pm taking any final payments for the Manchester Trip and we'll also be taking names & money for the next Youthclub disco which is on Friday 4th March.

Coffee morning

The Irish Pilgrimage Trust which takes children to Lourdes will hold a coffee morning in Kyle Forge on Saturday, March 12. Your support would be much appreciated.

Operation Transformation is continuing every Tuesday evening in Crossabeg community field at 7 p.m. It is still not too late to join in, so go along and help improve the fitness of the community #betweenthebells. An extra event is taking place on Sunday next, February 28 in Ballymurn GAA pitch with a walk/jog/run/cycle around the block starting at 12.30 p.m. There is no charge for this event and it is open to everyone. Stewards will be on duty at all crossroads etc.

Darts tournament

A darts tournament will be held in Foleys pub, Crossabeg on Saturday night next, February 27 at 9.30 p.m. Your support would be much appreciated. Proceeds in aid of the fund for the senior citizens annual Christmas party.

Date for the Diary A Fashion Show will be held in the Ferrycarrig hotel on Thursday, April 7 in aid of parish funds. Further details at a later date.

Condolences

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of baby Ruth Farrell, The Chase, Coolcotts Lane,Wexford, who passed away peacefully at home last week surrounded by her loving family, parents Billy and Charmaine (nee Wilson, Kyle, Crossabeg) brother James, grandparents Margaret and Joe (Crossabeg) and Breda, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Crossabeg church on Friday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. R.I.P.

Development Lotto

Results of the Curracloe United AFC development lotto draw for Sunday, February 14 as follows. The numbers drawn were 13, 15, 21 & 23. Curracloe school news

St. Margaret's national school would like to thank Eoin McMahon who recently delivered the "Leave No Trace Workshop" to the children of third and fourth class. The workshop was run in conjunction with Wexford County Council and the Department of the Environment and provided a fun and engaging way to learn about Ireland's natural environment and the 'Leave No Trace' message.

A reminder that the school is now taking enrolments for September 2016. Registration forms are available in the school and should be completed and returned by Monday, February 29.

The latest winners of the Split the Pot draw were Mag and Edel Cullen who won €168. The next draw will be held on Monday, February 29.

Variety Concerts

Unfortunately the variety concerts due to be staged in Screen hall on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 are now cancelled. Screen/Curracloe Pantomime Society will keep you informed of further events for the future.

Pool Tournament

Paddy Doyle was the winner again last week in the Richard Furlong memorial pool tournament held at the Roadhouse, Curracloe defeating Pat 3-2 in the final. Biggest upset of the night was the no show of one of the favourites of the tournament John Furlong. The event is kindly being sponsored by Bones Furlong digger hire and ST Civil Engineering, Curracloe. Jokers wild is back up and running every Sunday with over €1800 in prizes in the draw every Sunday at 6-7-8 and 9.

Social Dancing

Social dancing is on in Screen hall this Thursday night, February 25. Music by Derek Veall and dancing from 9.30 p.m. onwards. Refreshments are also served. Admission is €8 and your support would be appreciated.

Screen hall bookings

Drama classes in Screen hall every Thursday at 2.15 p.m. and again at 3.15 p.m. These classes cater for children from 5 to 12 years of age. The organisers are now enrolling new members. Contact Olivia on 085-1370527.

Fitness classes every Wednesday and Friday morning from 10-11 a.m. All levels of fitness welcome. Enjoyable classes all round to suit everyone.

Bookings are being taken for birthday parties. Contact Tina on 083-3009473 to make a booking. Entertainment provided by Mrs. Oddsocks. Pilate classes take place in the hall every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

You can support the hall by taking your scrap metal to the skip located behind C & C Building Providers in Screen.

There will be no Youth Club in the Community Centre for the next week to The General Election on the 26th Feb. Members will travel to a Disco in Bree on Friday 4th March.
