Kilmore

Women's Shed

This week in the Shed we are making origami drawstring bags for travel makeup/jewellery. The planned flower arranging has been postponed for the moment. What is needed are two pieces of contrasting material 18x18 ins and sewing machine if you have one.

New members are welcome, meeting in Tomhaggard social centre from 10am-1pm on Mondays, cost €5, with Refreshments served. There are exciting plans for upcoming activities, more details shortly.

Scouts

Kilmore scouts are holding a fundraising Breakfast Morning in Kilmore hall on Sunday 20th March from 10am to 1pm. Proceeds are in aid of the upcoming International scout jamboree in Birmingham during the summer, which 38 youth members and adults are attending, the majority of whom are camping overseas for the first time.

As usual Kilmore scouts will be taking part in the St Patricks Day Parade on 17th March. Everyone is to meet in Maudlintown Wexford, in full uniform, details later.

Drama

Ballycogley Players' production of 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' by Martin McDonagh is going down a treat with audiences everywhere. The Players took part in Wexford and Ballinamore drama festivals at the weekend. Next outing is Carnew on 18th March and New Ross on 21st March, at which stage they will know if they have sufficient points to qualify for the All Ireland Drama finals in Castleblayney.

A Cappella Workshop

Do you enjoy singing? Would you like to experience the joy of singing beautiful songs from around the world, in harmony? Then this workshop is for you!

Elena Winch has been leading a capella choirs for over 15 years, having led choirs in both New Zealand and England. She is a regular at 'Womad' music festival every year where she conducts up to 350 people to sing in harmony. Elena now leads the Quay Notes choir in Kilmore Quay

This workshop promises to be fun and leave you with a taste for more. No experience or musical knowledge necessary. Venue is The Talbot Hotel, Wexford on Saturday 16th April from 2pm to 5.30pm. Cost is €20pp. For information and/or to book your place, please Telephone Jane 0863387003.

Easter Basket Raffle: once again we will have our Easter Basket Raffle this year organised by the Local Active Retirement Club. Lines are €2 each or three for €5. Thank you for your support and good luck in the draw. Basket on display in Londis Piercestown. total of 5 prizes now-3 hampers and 2 others.

DMP AC

A busy weekend for the club both on the local and national athletics scene. Locally the senior men and women took to the roads of Enniscorthy in the County Novice Road Race.

The women's team battled hard with Christine Stone having a great run just finishing outside the individual medals in fourth place, Martina O'Mahony, Kathleen Keane and Lisa Malone made up the team.

In the men's race all the men ran really well to secure 3rd place in a very competitive men's team event. Well done to the men, John Murphy, Eddie Kennedy, John Stone and Brendan Radford.

Then at National level on Saturday we had two juvenile athletes competing at the National Indoor Championships Conor Brennan and Shane Parle. Conor competed in the U15 High Jump it wasn't Conors day but after a silver medal at Leinster level there is more to come from this ever improving young athlete. Shane however reached new heights in his athletic career and was crowned U19 High Jump All Ireland Champion.

A great achievement by this young man, great credit to his coach Jim Corcoran, a proud day for his family especially his grandad Jim Parle a stalwart for many years of the DMP club and a great day for the club, well done Shane.

Well done to everyone who represented the area in the County Art & Handwriting Competition on Saturday in Castlebridge N.S. Congratulations to Fiona O'Mahony, James Codd and Daniel O'Mahony who came first in their age categories in Art and now go on to represent Wexford at the National Community Games Finals in Athlone in August. Congratulations also to Grace Howlin 2nd in U8 Art, Dara Kelly 3rd in U12 Art and Kevin O'Mahony 3rd in U10 Handwriting.

Community Lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €15,000. The winning numbers were 2,4,8,10. Congratulations to the eleven match 3 winners who each received €27. TRX/Pilates Classes

Strollers/Striders

Sunny South East Strollers/Striders-We meet every Monday evening at 7pm, (except Bank Holidays and weather permitting. We would like to invite anyone who would like to get out for a stroll/walk, who may have very low fitness levels. We have starter strolls for the month of January where we can start off with 10/15 minutes, taking small rests if necessary.

The Strider Group will also meet at 7pm and walk for 35-45 mins. We have a cup of tea/ coffee & most importantly a chat afterwards. Cúl Camps 2016

This year's Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camp for both Boys and Girls covering Football, Hurling and Camogie will take place in St. Anne's GAA Club Grounds from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd July. Children will get to learn GAA games from qualified coaches in a safe and fun environment. Children from 6 to 13 years can be registered online by clicking the following link https://goo.gl/7Wa9Vv . Cost of Cúl Camp this year is as follows: 1st Child €55, 2nd Child €45, 3rd & 4th Child €40 each. Shane O'Hanlon is our Camp Co-Ordinator this year.

Irish Night

An Irish Night will be held in Rochfords Lounge, Camross this Satyrday night, 19th March at 9pm. There will be a feast of Irish music on offer. No. adm. fee, there will be refreshments and raffle. This event is organised by Camross ICA in aid of 2016 Senior Citizens Party.

Camross ICA

The March meeting was held in Camross Hall on Monday 7th March and Dympna Kelly presided. Minutes, Correspondence and finance were dealt with accordingly. Sympathy was extended to Margt O'Gorman, Poulpeasty on her recent bereavement.

Breda Banville gave report of Federation meeting, Alice Codd was thanked for her Crochet entry and Dympna and Mary Kelly for their Simnel Cake entries.Mella Winters was congratulated on winning that competition. Our Table quiz team was congratulated on coming 2nd in County final and Bree, the winners were wished all the best in the All Ireland on 2nd April.

The guild will hold an Irish Night in Rochfords Lounge, Camross on Saturday 19th March at 9pm in aid of 2016 Seniors Party.

Camross will enter in three categories in ICA Has Got Talent competition which will be held in Horse and Hound, Ballinaboola on Tuesdday 29th March at 7.30pm. Special Occasion competition was discussed and Camross will enter and will also enter in Co. Bowling on 28th April.

A session of 'Laughing Yoga' with Ann Dreelan followed the meeting and was an absolute hit with all present. Raffle winners were Alice Whitty, Margaret O'Gorman, Poulpeasty, Peggy Doyle and Marian Donnelly. Competition for Best Decorated Egg was won by Mary Nolan. Thanks to Berna Cadogan and Breda Whelan for a delicious tea.

Next meeting, which is the AGM will be held on Monday 4th April at 8pm and Information Officer, Dee Devereux will attend.

Taghmon ICA

The March meeting on Wednesday 16th will be an open meeting. The demonstration topic is health and nutrition for all. Please come and bring your friends. It's 8pm in the Scout Hall. See you there.

Well done to our Intermediate hurling team who had good win in the league over the weekend beating Geraldines 0-14 to 0-13. Our Intermediate football team will play St Fintan's in the league this Friday night at 8pm in Taghmon.

Our Lotto Jackpot wasn't won last week; the numbers were 4,11, 14, and 23, there were two match 3 winners, Denis Roche Slevoy and Ned Sinnott Bannow. Next week's Lotto Jackpot will be €2,900 and draw will be on Tuesday 22nd.

Well done to the U8's who played two cracking games in the indoor hurling tournament in Bannow/Ballymitty.

Training is changed to Wednesday evening from 6.30- 7.30pm in Taghmon from this wednesday 16th March. This Wednesday will be football training and we will be alternating between football and hurling over the coming weeks. We are playing outdoor from now on so come prepared and as always helmets and shinguards for hurling and gumshields for football. Any queries call Neil on 087 9535465.

The U12's are currently playing in the Rathnure Indoor hurling tournament which is proving great preparation for the busy season ahead.

The U14's played a practice match against St.Marys in preparation for the upcoming Feile Football competition which will be held in Taghmon on Sunday morning 20th March

The minor hurling team played their first championship game on Sunday last against Dunbrody Gaels. It was a very close game throughout that ended with the sides level on a scoreline of Taghmon 2-9 Dunbrody Gaels 0-15, well done boys.

South East Tops

The South East Tops competition will take place in Taghmon Community Centre on Monday 21st and Wed 23rd March at 7.30. The groups taking part this year are Adamstown, Kilrane / Rosslare Harbour and Taghmon. The three groups will perform on each night this year. Tickets will be on sale this Tuesday night at 7.30 in the Center, or you can contact 086 8369047 to book your tickets.

badminton

Last weekend, the U13 Wexford County Teams had a busy weekend in Dublin. On the U13 Wexford A Team, Taghmon had three players. Paddy Nolan, Libby O'Brien, Anne Nolan. On the U13 Wexford B Team, Taghmon also had three players Chloe Carroll, Lara Murphy, Maurice Cogley. The A team won runners up medals in Division 1, the B team won runners up medals in Division 4. Well done to all these young stars.

Taghmon's senior stars were in action at the Inter provincial's last weekend. Edwards Cousins, Nicholas Murphy, Clodagh Dunne and our youngest player Paddy Nolan. It is a great achievement for the club to have so many outstanding players. Deirdre Dunne, County Tournament Organiser let off the preliminary rounds of the County Championships on Wednesday Night.

golf society

The society's first outing will be in Enniscorthy on 19th March, starting at 10am. Would you all make an effort to turn up a bit earlier than usual as registration and annual membership have to be done prior to playing. So get yourself ready for another great year of society golfing.

There is a new and exciting competition to be played all through the year with some scores from all courses counting. Bring along a friend as a visitor or contact a lapsed member to reinvigorate them. When you get your text messages from a committee member would you all please answer swiftly as it helps the committee to organise the day more efficiently for you.

Athletics club

Very well done to our 6 athletes Brónagh, Aisling, Hannah, Dearbhla, Orlaith and Daniel that competed in the last day of the Leinster juvenile championships in Athlone. Daniel Ruane had a great debut in the Leinster juvenile championships making the semi finals of the boys U12 60m. Showing great talent and will be one to watch out for in the future. Dearbhla O Hanlon reach a new PB in the high jump finishing 8th. Bronagh O Hanlon finished 7th in the girls U 16 shot putt. Orlaith achieved a new PB in the long jump.

Both Aisling and Hannah ran very well all day progressing from their heats and semi-finals to very exciting close finals and unfortunately both finished just outside the medals. Aisling missing out by hundreds of a second to finish in 4th place.

The very best of luck to our 4 athletes that have progressed to the All Ireland Indoor finals also in Athlone: Aisling Kelly, Padraig Hore, Joseph Hanlon and James Hanlon.
