The weekly '30 Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 18th March at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Athletic Club news

Well done to Ryan Carthy-Walsh and Marguerite Furlong on receiving Athletics Ireland All-Star awards in Tullamore for their Athletic achievements in 2015. Marguerite received an Athletics Ireland All Star award for best juvenile Athlete in Wexford and Ryan received an Athletics Ireland All Star for best juvenile High Jumper.

Many of the athletes from 2nd Class to 6th Class travelled to the County Primary Sportshall Athletics Final in Enniscorthy on Tuesday 1st March. They had a great day and well done to the 3rd and 4th class girls team, 5th and 6th class girls team and 5th and 6th class boys team who won the County Sportshall Athletics Final and have qualified for the National Sportshall Athletics Final in Athlone. Best of luck to these girls and boys who will now represent Wexford at the National Sportshall Athletics in Athlone.

Well done to our athletes that travelled to the 3rd day of the Leinster Indoor Championship in Athlone last weekend. Those that competed at the 2 day event were: Abbie Carthy-Walsh, Isobel English, Ciara Mooney, Ben Wall, Robert Wall, Craig Wall, Ellie Cloney, Ella English, Grace Cloney, Eadaoin Stafford, Annalise Crean, Triona Mooney, Clodagh Walsh, Ryan Carthy-Walsh and Joe Mooney. Joe Mooney was 1st in the Junior walk with a new championship best performance of 14.21, 3000m and Ryan Carthy-Walsh was 1st in the Junior high jump clearing 2.09 which is well past the European Youths qualifying standard of 2.03 for the European Youths in Georgia this summer.

Day 2 of the CMC League takes place on Friday 18th March at the Enniscorthy Sports Hub from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Kevin Banville Fun Run

The Kevin Banville Memorial Fun Run is on Saturday 19th March, starting at picnic area, Carrigbyrne Rock. Walkers start time 2pm and Runners start time 2.30pm. Registration €15 per person, children free, registration is currently available at www.active.com, Newbawn Post Office and Horse & Hound. You can also pay on the day of run also. All monies raised in to Compassionate Friends New Ross and Embrace Farm. Refreshments available after the run in Horse & Hound. Please wear suitable footwear. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Confirmation

On Thursday 10th March, Monsignor Joseph McGrath conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 31 children in St Abban's Church. Fr Bernard Cushen P.P. was Master of Ceremonies. A sincere thanks to all the parents who were so committed over the many months in preparation for this day, thanks to Fr Nolan, teachers Ms Caroline Delaney, the school choir made up of children from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes, their contribution added much to the ceremony.

Thanks Lou and Michael who put so much into the choir over the past number of weeks and for their accompaniment on the day. To Cait for her help and co-operation at all times, to the Fas workers and the ladies for their wonderful work in preparing the church and grounds for the ceremony. Thank you all so much.

Marie Keating Unit

The Marie Keating Foundation mobile unit will visit Raheen Family Resource Centre on Tuesday 15th March from 11am-2pm. The unit is staffed by a specialist nurse, and it is stocked with take home information leaflets and packs on the various cancers. The nurse will be available to take to people on a one-to-one basis in a private area on board, about any concerns that they have about cancer, either for themselves or for someone else such as a family member or friend.

Sacred Heart N.S Newbawn are holding a St Patrick's Day Fundraiser Night in Enniscorthy Dog Track this coming Thursday 17th March. Tickets are €10, which includes admission on the night with race card, and a chance to win €250 in our Buster Draw (under 14's are free). Also on the night, Trad Music will be played in the bar from 9pm, with finger food being served up, and of course some St Patricks Day face painting for the kids.

Tickets on sale in Cullen's Shop, Adamstown, or can be purchased directly from the school office on 051-428416. This is sure to be an enjoyable night, make sure to get your tickets and get your green ready. Admission on the night will not go towards the school fundraiser, so please purchase your tickets beforehand.

A clothes collection supporting Friends Of Calcutta (CHY No 13218.) takes place on Friday March 18th, with collection until 6pm in Clonard Community Centre. WEXARA News

Our monthly lunch will be held in Reeds Restaurant at the Ferrycarrig Hotel on Wednesday 16th March at 1pm. Our AGM takes place on Wednesday 30th March. Proceedings begin early with Mass at 2pm. New Committee Members will be elected as four of our committee members will be stepping down.

Wexford ICA Guild

This month's meeting for March will happen on the 31st March at 7.30 in the Coolcotts Community Centre. The guild groups competition is "a container of home planted flowering Spring bulbs." You'd be blooming mad not enter this one. Love yourself enough to live a healthy lifestyle, look after your body you've only got one of them.

This month's interesting speaker will be Colette Blake who will speak to us about taking care of ourselves. She is an Urodynamic nurse and will talk about this fascinating topic. Don't miss out its sure to be an engaging talk. As always, can't wait to see you all over a lovely cupán tae.

Tennis Camp

An Easter Tennis Camp will run from Tuesday 22nd March to Thursday 24th March 2at the Glynn/Barntown GAA pitch. Time is from 10 am to 12 noon. Training for U.10s girls football and camogie next Wednesday evening 7 -8pm

Our Junior Camogie team played St. Annes on Sunday morning in Killurin and put in a great performance but were defeated.

Our Senior girls were out v Dicksboro in the Leinster League on Sunday afternoon (away) where the girls worked extremely hard and showed great determination to earn a 2 point victory. With 32 girls taking part in adult competition for the club along with 5 at County level over the weekend the club is in a very fortunate and healthy place!

Hard luck to Emma Sweeney, Cora Doyle and Aisling Halligan who were on the U.16 Co Camogie team who played their long awaited refixed game v Offaly in Kinnitty on Sunday but sadly didn't come away with a victory. Commiserations also to clubman Ger Sweeney a selector with the U.16 outfit.

Also in action over the weekend were Patrice O'Gorman with the Wexford Intermediate camogie team who were defeated by Laois and Emma Walsh (Polehore) with the Wexford Senior camogie team who drew with Dublin. Well done girls.

EASTER RAFFLE: Tickets have been distributed among club members for our Annual Easter Hamper Raffle. The longest running fundraiser in the club it always receives great support from our members but particularly from our main sponsors Declan and Mary Roche of The Sycamore House who host the draw annually on Holy Thursday night (March 24th this year) and play a huge in selling tickets for the event.

DISCO: There will be a camogie club disco for 4th-6th classes on Tuesday March 29th 8-10pm in the clubhouse. €3 admission-Pay on the door. Children to be dropped to and collected from the door by an adult please.

U.8 Hurling and football training has resumed on Saturday 11.30am-12.30pm. New members are always welcome.

Our Minor B hurlers began their campaign on Sunday morning v Rathgarogue Cushinstown in Cushinstown but were unfortunately beaten on this occasion.

EASTER CAMP: Registration forms are available in local schools and shops for Glynn-Barntown's first ever Easter Camp which will run from the 29th March-1st of April from 10am-2pm for boys and girls aged 6-12years. SENIOR GAA

On Sunday morning our Senior hurlers began their ACHL journey for 2016 when they faced the Faythe Harriers in Pairc Carman-the boys went in at half time with a 6 point lead but the opposition rallied in the second half to take the lead. A concerted effort from the Glynn/Barntown men saw them close the gap and they ran out two points ahead at the final whistle.

Our senior Co clubmen were also in action over the weekend with Michael O'Regan and Rob Tierney lining out with the Wexford Senior Footballers v Wicklow with a confident performance and win while Mark Fanning and the Wexford Senior hurlers took on Offaly also in Innovate Wexford Park but were unfortunately defeated.

LOTTO: The winning club lotto numbers for Wednesday March 9th are: 2, 18, 24, 29. There was no Jackpot Winner. Four match 3 winners: Tony Hughes, Ger Harte, Emily Rafter, Paddy McDonald. Next draw in Declan's Killurin Thursday March 24th (with Camogie Club Annual Easter Raffle). Jackpot remains at € 10,000. Reserve jackpot is €6,600.

Hard luck to Alibeth Moran Curran and Cora Rowe who were part of the Co. U14 Ladies Football team defeated by Dublin at the weekend. The winner of the trailer load of firewood in the Glynn Barntown LGFC Winter draw was Eddie Hogan, Taghmon. Congratulations Eddie!
