Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €5,400. The winning numbers were 4, 12, 20 and 25. Congratulations to the 10 match-three winners who each received €30. The match-three winners were Paul Lacey, John Cousins, Maria and Niall, Kathleen Maloney, Jane Cahill, Deirdre Besener, Tolik, Dermot Lacey, Shane Walsh, Ber Geelan. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, May 24, and the jackpot now stands at €5,700.


Sunny South East Strollers/Striders - We meet every Monday evening at 7 p.m., (except Bank Holidays and weather permitting. We would like to invite anyone who would like to get out for a stroll/walk, who may have very low fitness levels. We have starter strolls for the month of January where we can start off with 10/15 minutes, taking small rests if necessary.

The Strider Group will also meet at 7 p.m. and walk for 35 to 45 mins. We have a cup of tea or coffee and most importantly a chat afterwards. PT and Fitness Classes

Why not come and try one of our classes in Rathangan Hall. We have a Legs. Bums and Tums, morning class are every Monday morning and Monday evening class at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays we alternate between a Boxercise class and a circuit class. For more info. Contact Brian at 086 1551315.

Community Playgroup

Places are still available for your child to attend Cleariestown Community playgroup and avail of the free preschool year under the ECCE scheme, from September 2116. Breakfast Morning

Rathangan Variety Group would like to thank everyone who come from far and near to support our recent Breakfast Morning, we had a fantastic turnout. Special Thanks to Martina and Sam of Temple Bar for the use of their premises and all our hardworking committee and cast members who cooked and served. If you missed our on that one, well fear not as we are hosting another one on Sunday, June 12, in Temple Bar. So save the date. More details later.

Tractor/vintage run

A vintage car, tractor, motorcycle run/walk+cycle will take place in aid of Rathangan Church Restoration Fund on Sunday, June 5. Registration begins in church grounds at 12.15 p.m. Tractor, Car, Motorcycles €20, Walkers and Cyclist 10€. Run starts approx 1 p.m. Refreshments served at Temple Bar on return. All support appreciated.

Table quiz

Duncormick Area Action Group and Tidy Towns Committee will hold a table quiz in Sinnott's Pub on Wednesday, May 25, at 9 p.m. Tables €20. Refreshments served. Proceeds in aid of river walk development.

Fastnet Rovers AFC

Well done the under-11 Fastnet Rovers team who won the under-11 League title last weekend. This is the first underage league title since 2003 and with so many of our teams doing so well hopefully the first of many. St Anne's Athletic Club

The club would like to congratulate all of our athletes who competed at the Co Championships over the last two weekends. Our medal winners - Aoife Brennan under-10 first Turbo Javelin. Finn Ryan under-13 second 100m, third Shot Putt and third 600m. Liam Berry under-13 third 100m and second 80m. Muireann Hynes under-11 third 600m. Aidan Brennan under-11 third Turbo Javelin and second High Jump.

Tidy Towns

Duncormick Area Action Group has once again entered this year's Tidy Towns Competition with judging from June-August. We are appealing to everyone to help us in obtaining better results this year and be proud of our village. We would also like to ask everyone to use the litter bins provided in the village.

Cúl Camp 2016: Parents we have been advised that if you wish to send your child/children to Cúl Camp this year in Tagoat to please book online by June 1, and you will receive your Cúl Camp gear before the camps commence. The camps are being capped this year so book early to avoid disappointment. Week one in Tagoat is June 11 to 15 and Week two in Tagoat is August 15 to 19. See you there.

We are making great progress with planting etc. Volunteers are needed. A raffle will be held over Saturday/Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend, with the the draw taking place at 5 p.m. on Sunday in the beach car park.

St Mary's Day Centre

We have a few places available Monday, Wednesday and Friday for anyone interested in joining us for a bit of socialising and a lot of fun. We are looking forward to seeing the folks from Grantstown Day Care Centre shortly as we make our usual visits.

5K FOR DAY CENTRE: Our first ever 5K run and walk in Aid of St Mary's Day Centre will be held on May 29 at 11 a.m. (Registration from 10 a.m. at the centre). Start from Ling's Chinese Takeaway and finish at St Mary's Day Centre. Course is flat, timed and a fun event for all the family or those who want to beat their personal best over this distance.

SYMPATHIES: We would like to send our sympathies to the friends and family of Doris Busher. Doris was a member of St Mary's Day Centre for many years and she will be sadly missed.
