Ballymurn Macra

Ballymurn Macra will meet this Thursday May 26 for the ultimate card and board games night in the Anvil Pub at 8 p.m. Upcoming events include 'Rock me Mama' Nathan Carter gig at Dublin Races, and a Kayaking trip down the Slaney.

Deepest Sympathy

Deepest Sympathy is extended to Jim and Ann Jordan and family on the death of Ann's two aunts, Sr Mary Fabian Barden, whose burial took place in Poulfur, and Josephine Barden whose burial took place in Adamstown.

Sympathy also to the O'Toole families, Garryvarren and St Joseph's terrace on the death of Bernies husband Jimmy Larkin whose burial took place in Glenbrien. May they rest in Peace.

GAA Notes

Barn Dance

This year's barn dance will take place on Sunday, June 5, in John Cullen Grain store, music will be provided by the Joe Davitt Country band. Ticket are €15 each including food.

Ladies' Football

Crossabeg-Ballymurn LGFC are fundraising to help send our under-14 girls to Féile at the end of June and the following events have been organised so far: clothes collection the first week of June; Cabaret in the Anvil on May 28, adm €5 doors open 9 p.m. door prizes. 5K run on Sunday, June 12, in Ballymurn starting at midday More details to follow.

The Wexford/Wicklow Vintage Group are organising a bus to the 2016 Innishannon Vintage Rally which will take place on Sunday, June 5. The cost is €30 per head which will cover bus, breakfast and entry to the show. Places on the bus will be allocated on a first come, first service basis. Further details please contact sean at 087 6486279. A deposit of €20 will secure your seat.

Tidy Towns

This year's Tidy Towns application is done. Please be vigilant on litter around the village and approach roads. We have a very high standard on litter so lets keep it up. Planting will begin soon so we are looking for volunteers to help with the watering over the summer.

Birthday Boy

We send our good wishes to Kevin McDermott, Kyle, Crossabeg, on the occasion of his 80th birthday which was celebrated with a party for family and friends at the Ferrycarrig hotel on Friday night of last week.

Pub Quiz

The parents of the Crossabeg-Ballymurn under-14 girls football team who qualified to represent Wexford in the Féile are hosting a pub quiz which will be held in Foleys on Friday, May 27, at 8 p.m. The quiz is being n held to raise funds for transport, team kits etc to and from the Féile which is being held in Cork, Kerry and Limerick on June 24.

Go along and support the girls and have a great night at the same time. Teams of four persons. A raffle will also take place and there are prizes galore. Anyone interested in sponsoring a quiz round or raffle prize are asked to call Lynda at 087 2831664.

55+ club

The local 55+ club are organising a day trip to Foto Island Theme Park for Tuesday, June 7, travelling with Joe O'Brien Tours. The group will stop for dinner in Dungarvan on the way back. The cost is €45 per person. If interested please contact 086 8904715.

Open day

There is an open invitation for all parishioners and indeed anyone who may be interested to take in a guided tour of the beautiful gardens of Artraman House on Sunday, May 29, between 2-5 p.m.

You are welcome to a Garden open day by kind permission of Countess Ulrike Walderdorff which is being organised as a fundraiser by the Crossabeg Senior Citizens committee. Admission is €5 and light refreshments will also be served. This promises to be a great afternoon for all the family.

Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies Gaelic Football club are fundraising to help send the under-14 girls to Knocknagree in Co. Cork for the Féile which will be held on June 24. A cabaret will be held in the Anvil, Ballymurn on Saturday night next, May 28. Admission is €5 and and tickets are on sale and the doors open at 9 p.m. There will also be a door prizes. A

coffee morning will take place in Mernaghs of Oylegate on Saturday, June 11, and a 5K run in Ballymurn on June 12 at midday. Registration for the race will take place from 11 a.m. Please give the girls your support.

Athletics

Well done to all the children from Crossabeg national school who attended the Wexford Primary School Sports held on Wednesday of last week in Bree. Well done to Conor Curtin who won a bronze medal in the under-14 High Jump final.

Folk Choir

The acclaimed University of Notre Dame Folk Choir will perform in the National Opera House, Wexford, this coming Friday evening, May 27, at 7.30 p.m. Admission is €20, €15 for pensioners and €10 for children. You can book online: nationaloperahouse.ie or phone 053 9122144.

GAA news

Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club lotto numbers last week were 7, 24, 26 and 29. There was no jackpot winner and no match-three winners. Lucky dips were Stephanie Murphy and Joe Murphy.

Well done to the junior B footballers who beat Kilmore in the first round of the district championship on Friday night. They will play St Martin's in the second round on Saturday next at 6 p.m in Ballymurn. Well done to the under-16 hurlers who beat Buffers Alley in the championship last week.

The under-14 hurlers play St Anne's at home on Thursday evening of this week, May 26 at 7.30 p.m, while the under-12 hurlers will play Oylegate, away on Monday, May 31, at 7.30 p.m.

Barn Dance

This year's barn dance, organised by the local Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club will take place on Sunday, June 5, in John Cullen Grain's store, and music will be provided by the Joe Davitt Country band. Community Games

The local Community Games athletic finals were held in Crossabeg community field on Thursday evening of last week and attracted large numbers.

Well done to all who competed so well during the evening. A reminder to all medal winners that training will take place in the community field in Crossabeg every Monday evening from now till the county finals which will be held in the Hub in Enniscorthy on Sunday, June 12.

Grateful thanks also to all the adults who helped out to run off the various events and in particular to St Killian's AC who gave up their training evening to facilitate the running of the competition and to all their members who helped out in any way.

Well done to Katie Feeney, Curracloe, who competed in the under-16 Solo Music competition in Bree hall on Friday evening last. Katie played the tin whistle and the button accordian and put in a very good performance. Izzy Kavanagh from Screen also performed very well on Sunday morning last when she competed in the Gymnastic competitions held in Gorey. Well done girls.

Condolences

We extend our condolences to the family of the late Sheila Kearns (née Gardner) Crossabeg, and formerly of London, who died on Wednesday of last week, having been in poor health for some time. Beloved wife of the late Bill, she is survived by her loving family. Her remains reposed in Mulligans funeral home on Thursday with prayers in the funeral home on Friday morning followed by removed to Crossabeg church for Requiem Mass at midday. Burial took place afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.

Our condolences also to Mrs Annie Cloney and family, Kyle; Mr Pat Kearns, Kereight, Crossabeg and Mrs Kay McCann, Newcastle, Crossabeg, on the death of their Mother (in her 100th year) Mrs Anastasia (Rose) Kearns, Clonard Road, Wexford, whose funeral took place to Murrintown cemetery after Requiem Mass in Clonard church, yesterday, Monday, May 23. RIP. Deepest sympathy

Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the Ennis family, Ballymurn. on the death of Mick Ennis which took place recently. Mick was a former player with the club. May he rest in peace.
