Crossabeg-Ballymurn LGFC are fundraising to help send our under-14 girls to the Féile at the end of June. Fundraising events for this weekend: Friday, June 10, - Karaoke in the Slaney Inn Oylegate at 9.30 p.m.; Saturday, June 11, - Coffee Morning in Mernaghs Lounge Oylegate at 12.30 p.m.; Sunday 12th JUne - 5K Run/Walk in Ballymurn. Registration is at 11 a.m.

Tidy Towns

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather. All flowers planted this week. Anyone interested in helping out with the watering please contact any committee member. We will have our first visit from the Tidy Towns judges this month so we all need to be vigilant and make sure we keep up the good work keeping our village litter free.

MACRA NA FEIRME

Congratulations to Blackwater macra members Fiona McCabe and Mairead McCabe who did a great job with the working group in helping to organise the recent Farm Safety and Mental Health open day in Ballycanew. Blackwater macra were happy to help support this initiative. Extended thank you also to the Earle Family for all their hard work.

Blackwater Macra would like to thank everyone who supported the summers launch of Tag Rugby such a great team effort and community spirit involved well done to Blackwater macra members for activating this initative in the area.

Summer season has begun in Crossabeg community centre and will continue over the coming months every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Winners last week were Mary Morrissey (top score) Frances Morris (1st gent) Trish Furlong/Molly Murphy (second gent) Stella Nolan and Caitriona Cullen (1st and second lady) Eilis Darcy (lowest score) Betty Shanahan/Kathleen Hayes (hatchers) Eilis Darcy, Stella Nolan, Mary Morrissey (raffle).

Coffee morning

A Coffee morning in aid of the WSPA will take place in Kyle Forge on Saturday, June 18, beginning at 10 a.m. Your generous support would be appreciated.

Annual general meeting

The annual general meeting of Kyle Forge will take place at the Forge on Monday, June 20, commencing at 8 p.m. Groups and clubs who use the premises are asked to attend as well as the general public. Your comments and ideas are very much appreciated.

Clean-up Month

The local An Taisce committee (in charge of clean-up month held in April) wish to thank most sincerely all those from the parish who came out and helped with the task in hand, cleaning up rubbish and unwanted items from the lanes and roads around the parish.

The village and surrounding townlands are looking great right now and with everyones help, lets try and keep it that way. Refrain from throwing rubbish out of car windows, take it home and put in a recycle bin. If only this event could become a more regular occurance, then perhaps we could see an end to having bags of rubbish dumped in ditches and gateways.

Ladies' Football

On Friday, June 10, a Karaoke fund-raising session on behalf of the Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' football club will be held in the Slaney Inn, Oylegate, commencing at 9.30 p.m. On Saturday, June 11, a coffee morning will take place in Mernaghs lounge, Oylegate at 12.30 p.m. Then on Sunday, June 12, there will be a 5K run/walk in Ballymurn. Registration will take place at 11 a.m. Please give the girls your support.

Community Games

A reminder to all the children who have qualified for the county athletic finals that training is continuing at Crossabeg community field every Monday night. The county finals will be held in the Hub in Enniscorthy on Sunday, June 12. Training for the various Relay competitions is under way and the selectors are now close to making the final decisions on same.

Parents are reminded that they need to have their children in attendance at the Hub by 9.45 a.m. on June 12 in preparation for the days activities. The Area singlet and numbers will be provided by the local committee.

Oulart

Patron and Field Day

The patron in Oulart will take place on June 26. The usual Field Day in aid of Scoil Mochua will be held immediately afterwards.

Thank You the recent Church Gate Collection in aid of Autism that was held in Oulart, yielded €262. Many thanks to all who contributed and to the collectors also.

Rackard League

Congratulation to the school Rackard League Hurling and camogie teams on progressing to the Co. quarter-finals in both competitions. Thank you to Mr McDonald and Ms.Griffin who were in charge and to the parents who organised transport.

Scoil Mochua news

The pupils of Scoil Mochua will soon embark on their annual school tours and a very varied programme has been arranged. The Infants will visit Woodfield House in Oylegate; First and Second classes will go to Maldron Hotel for cookery, crazy golf and swimming; Third and Fourth will visit Clara Lara and Wicklow Gaol while Fifth and Sixth will do the Dublin Walking Rebellion Tour and visit Gravity, Courtown.

OTHER DATES TO REMEMBER: Scoil Mochua's annual 'Mad Hair Day' will be held on June 10.

The Used Clothes Collection will take place on June 13. The bags of clothes etc should be left at the school before 9.30 a.m.

Cúl Camps

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will host two Cúl Camps this year. The first will run from July 4 to 8 while the second camp will run from August 15 to 19. Children may sign up for one or both camps.

Barn Dance

All roads lead to Raheenduff for Oulart-The Ballagh's annual Barn Dance on June 25. Music will be provided by the Heartbeats and as usual, sumptuous burgers will be on offer as well as great craic, ceol, rince and late bar. Tickets are available from players and committee.

Lifestyle Transformation

Thanks to all who took part in Lifestyle Transformation 2016. We hope you enjoyed the events and thanks to all who supported the events and fundraising. The prize giving night takes place on Friday, June 3, in Marty's Bar.

Ballagh Boxing Club.

The Ballagh boxing club golf classic takes place Friday, June 17, in enniscorthy golf course in aid of the new clubhouse, anyone who would like to enter a team or give sponsorship please contact a member of the club or 087 6237409. €120 for a team of 4.

Underage camogie

Well done to the under-12s who played Rathnure last week. The under-12 are scheduled to play Bannow-Ballymitty at home on June 16. The under-14s look forward to playing Bunclody this week.

Garden Evening

Castlebridge Show committee are holding a Garden Evening on Wednesday, June 15, with Syl Doyle of Wilton Nurseries, Bree, and it commences at 8 p.m in the Community Garden, Castlebridge. Tea and coffee will be available. This event is free of charge and they hope to see you all there.

Summer camp

Bridge Rovers are delighted to announce that they will be running a Sports Direct.com FAI Summer Soccer School camp this year. The camp will take place between August 8 and August 12 and is open to six - 14-year-old boys and girls of all abilities.

This is a great opportunity for your child to develop their football skills, while making friends and having fun in the process. Camps are available for both goalkeepers and outfield players. Entry to the camp costs €65 per child. They also offer a special sibling discount of €10 per child if one or more siblings join the camp. An exclusive FAI Summer Soccer School kit, football and backpack is provided for all children who enrol at the camp this year.

There is only a limited number of places available, so they are urging people to book as soon as possible to avoid missing out. To find out more, or to book your child's place at the club visit summersoccerschools.ie.

Tracie's Walk

The annual walk to remember Tracie Lawlor will take place on Sunday, June 12. The date has been changed to the week following the bank holiday as some of the ladies are taking part in the Women's Mini Marathon on the bank holiday.

This is the eighth year and it is both a fundraiser for the trust and a lovely social event where you get an update on how the trust is doing and what the plans are for the future.

Registration is from 10 a.m in Castlebridge square and the walk starts at 11 a.m. and walkers will arrive at the Talbot hotel at around 12.15 p.m. for a meal and an update on the charity. Registration is only €20 which includes your meal. If you are able to walk you can do this.

Curracloe school news

The boys and girls from Curracloe, Screen and Castlebridge national schools under the Castlebridge Rackard League team recently completed Round one of their Rackard League hurling and camogie matches. The girls went on to win their quarter final match against Rathnure and will now play Adamstown in the semi-final. We wish them well.

On Wednesday, June 1, boys and girls from fifth and sixth classes participated in a Tag Rugby Blitz in Ferrycarrig Park. They enjoyed a great day of rugby and came third in the competition. Thank you to helpers who went along to help supervise the teams.

The school sports day was held on Thursday, June 2. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children and thanks to the parents' association who provided food and to the parents and helpers who help make the day a great success.
