Kilmore

Kilmore United fc

Our underage presentation day will take place on Sunday, June 26, in our grounds from 2-3.30 p.m. Our youths/adult presentation night will take place on Friday, July 1, in Quigleys with music provided by the band Dynamo.

e-Business course

Anyone (aged 16 or over) who is interested in improving their Business or Information Technology skills a Bridgetown PLC Course has places available on a QQI (FETAC) Level five, One year Certificate, eight Modules including Web Authoring, The Internet and e-Business. Mature students, early school leavers, unemployed; all applications will be considered. No previous knowledge of IT required or previous qualifications necessary.If you have some time on your hands why not get in touch, we offer flexible hours for mature candidates, no experience necessary. Possibility of completing the course over two years to suit individual needs etc.

Alzheimer's Coffee

The coffee morning in aid of the Alzheimer's Association Wexford Branch will be held in the Community Hall, Kilmore on Sunday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As usual your support would be greatly appreciated and everyone is invited.

Kilmore ARA

On Wednesday last we had a very successful trip to Johnstown Castle and the Agricultural Museum. The trip to Waterford has been cancelled due to lack of those indicating their willingness to partake.

July 6 is the trip to Dublin by early train. Trip to the GAA museum will include Lunch while others have indicated a wish to see the GPO and Collins Barracks. Return Train to be organised on the day. Thursday, July 28, is our trip to the dogs in Enniscorthy. This trip is getting a good response. Anyone wishing to take part in these trips should indicate their willingness to a member of the committee. All welcome. Bowls practice on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the SMC. Ten-Pin Bowling on Mondays at 10.30 a.m. in Leisuremax.

Memorial Service

The annual memorial service dedicated to those who lost their life at sea will take place on Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Garden, Kilmore Quay.

Scouts

There's a big fundraising weekend on June 18/19 in aid of upcoming International Scout Jamboree in Birmingham at the end of July. Almost 40 adult and youth members of the Group, from Kilmore and surrounding parishes are attending the camp which includes scouts from all corners of the world.

On Saturday, June 18, there is a cake sale after 7.30 mass in Tomhaggard, cake sale and tea on the lawn after 6.30 mass in Kilmore. On Sunday, June 19, there is a cake sale after 11.00mass in Mulrankin, cake sale, tea on the lawn and mini car boot sale in Kilmore from 10 a.m. to mid afternoon. There's plenty of home baking, bric a brac, produce, books, beauty parlour (hair braiding and nails). Thank you to everyone who supported the Trolley Raffle in Brady's Mace Kilmore Quay last weekend, the winner was Mark Kenna who was visiting the area.

Wamboree

Wamboree is a scout camp in aid of Syrian Refugee Crisis which Kilmore is hosting from June 24 to June 26. Base camp is on Quigleys land down the lane in the village while activities will be taking place on various beaches in the Parish. A number of Groups from the County have confirmed attendance so far and thanks to some local business sponsorship all money raised from camp and donations will be going to charity. The whole ethos of the weekend is fun, outdoors, and appreciation of what we have. More details next week.

Women's Shed meet every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., new members welcome. Reading Room is open to the public at the same time. There's a great range of books to borrow, read or swop available.

RNLI bike ride

A Fun Bike Ride in aid of Kilmore Quay Lifeboat takes place this Sunday, June 19. We have three routes this year: First - Kiddies cycle from the Boat House around the Florn and back to the Boat House. This is for under 10 years. Second - 20K same route as last year. Leaving the Boat House heading to Kilmore and on to Bridgetown, swing left for Baldwinstown and down through Ballyteigue finishing at the Boat House.

Third route is the 50K: starting at the Boat House and head for Kilmore, Tenacre, Ballycogley and through Lightwater going on to the Rosslare road/main town road, take a left here and continue on to the first roundabout and take the first exit and head to the Whitford Roundabout and again take the first exit heading onto the Duncannonline. Continue on this road till you come to the turn off on the left for Kilmore Quay as you come into Waddingtown. Continue on to Baldwinstown and straight back down to Kilmore Quay finishing at the Boat House.

Registration is at 10 a.m. at the Boat House. Cost: €10 per Adult, €5 for under-16s and €2 for kids Helmets and high vise jackets must be worn by everyone taking part. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Death

The death of Betty Roche, Harpoonstown took place last week. Betty was a very nice and well known person and sympathy goes out to her family and friends on their loss.

Also, the sad news of the passing of the great old lady of Sarshill, Kilmore, Mrs Peggy Boxwell took place at Kerlogue nursing home recently. Peggy was known far and near and was a very well liked and most respected lady and was always full of life and you could have met her any where when she was driving that well known car of hers. Sincere sympathy to all her family and friends of which she had many on their loss of a great lady.

Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €3,000. The winning numbers were 4, six,19, 26. Congratulations to the nine match-three winners who each received €33. The match-three winners were James Dwyer, Noeleen Gore, Pat Rossiter, Sean Moore, Catherine Murphy Walsh, Sheila Parle, Francis Moore, Jim and Alice Ryan, Rosaleen Keegan. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the jackpot now stands at €3,300.

Strollers/Striders

Sunny South East Strollers/Striders - We meet every Monday evening at 7 p.m., (except Bank Holidays and weather permitting. We would like to invite anyone who would like to get out for a stroll/walk, who may have very low fitness levels. We have starter strolls for the month of January where we can start off with 10/15 minutes, taking small rests if necessary.

The Strider Group will also meet at 7 p.m. and walk for 35 to 45 mins. We have a cup of tea or coffee and most importantly a chat afterwards. PT and Fitness Classes

Why not come and try one of our classes in Rathangan Hall. We have a Legs. Bums and Tums, morning class are every Monday morning and Monday evening class at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays we alternate between a Boxercise class and a circuit class. For more info. Contact Brian at 086 1551315.

Places are still available for your child to attend Cleariestown Community playgroup and avail of the free preschool year under the ECCE scheme, from September 2116. Tidy Towns

Duncormick Area Action Group has once again entered this year's Tidy Towns Competition with judging from June-August. We are appealing to everyone to help us in obtaining better results this year and be proud of our village. We would also like to ask everyone to use the litter bins provided in the village.

Forth Walking Group meets every Saturday Morning at 10 a.m. at lay by beside Regal Lodge. New members always welcome.

gaa golf classic

St Anne's GAA Club annual golf classic will take place on Friday, July 15, in Wexford Golf Club. Teams of four will be €160 and Tee-Boxes/Greens can be Sponsored for €100 each. There will be the Traditional Doyle's Butchers Classic Burger on the ninth.
