Fr John is soon to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of his ordination to Priesthood. In recognition of his devotion to Barntown Parish, we welcome the parishioners to join us at this joyful celebration. Bishop Denis Brennan will be con-celebrating Mass in Barntown Church, on Saturday, June 18, at 7 p.m., which will be followed by an informal function and presentation to Fr John in Barntown School.
The School will be open on Saturday 18th between 4 and 5 p.m. for donations of cakes and buns. (No fresh cream please due to health and safety).
FIRST FRIENDS DAYCARE
First Friends Daycare, Glynn now taking bookings for September. Also this year we will be running a summer camp for the first three weeks in July. For further information, please contact Marian at 087 2332 133.
GYMNASTICs SUMMER CAMP
Gymstars Gymnastic Club, Knockeen, Barntown will be running two summer camps. The camps will consist of Trampet work, Floor work, Vault, Beam, Air Track and much more. It will be specially designed to suit all the different abilities from the beginner to the advanced. First Camp starts Monday, July 11, second Camp starts Tuesday, August 02. Both camps run for four Days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Joanne at 087 9475 977. Beginners welcome.
Anyone who wishes to pre-enrol their child for classes in September can call into the Gym Club and fill out one of our enrolment forms. Classes for September can be pre - booked with a Deposit of €20.
The Glynn Tractor Run takes place on July 3, leaving the village at 1 p.m. Registration from midday to 1 p.m. €20 to enter the run. See you there.
CAMOGIE club news
Well done to our under-8 camogie team who took part in a blitz in Rosslare on Sunday morning where the girls showed plenty of skill and determination to make their mentors and parents very proud.
Our under-14 Green team had a great win over Rathnure in championship 8-5 to 2-2 while the Blue team were unfortunately beaten by Rapparees over the weekend.
Well done to Senior Club camogie star Emma Walsh and her Wexford team mates who won the Leinster Senior camogie final on Sunday 2-19 to 1-9. Emma was kind enough to bring the cup to the clubhouse on Sunday for the club coffee morning.
Well done to Emma Dempsey who won the under-14 Co. Community Games long puck competition on Sunday.
COFFEE MORNING: The camogie club hosted a coffee morning and cake sale in the clubhouse on Sunday last and would like to thank everyone who supported it in any way by baking, serving tea, washing up etc. Thanks to camogie club President and main sponsor Mary Roche who presented a new set of club jerseys sponsored by the Sycamore House to camogie captain Annette Moroney and Wexford and club Senior camogie player Emma Walsh on the day. Thanks to those who organised or took part in the novelty rounders game on the pitch also.
COISTE NA NÓG
Two under-8 teams competed in the hurling blitz in Killurin on Saturday morning against Cushinstown, Castletown, and the Rapparees. There were great performances all around - well done to all the boys. A big thanks to all the parents who donated sandwiches and buns and who helped with the teas in the clubhouse afterwards.
The under-12 Boys Blue team played out of their skin on Tuesday evening in Killurin and came out on top against a good Naomh Eanna side with all 24 players from the Blue team getting a run. Well done boys.
The Green team defeated Duffry Rovers in Coolree in football championship 2-10 to 1-5 on Monday evening while the Blue team also beat the same opposition 3-14 to 3-1.
Our under-14 boys had a good win when they defeated St Anne's in championship football last week 2-12 to 2-4.
Hard luck to Glynn NS Rackard League Hurling team who were defeated by Kilrush in their quarter final recently in Ferns.
Well done to Barntown NS Rackard League Hurling team who continue to fly the club banner following their semi-final win over Cushinstown on Friday-they now face Kilrush in the final and will need plenty of club support on the line. Good luck boys!
Our Senior hurlers had a great win over Shelmaliers in Hollymount on Saturday evening in the league - final score 1-20 to 2-15-a two point win sealed with late points from JJ Doyle and Aaron Kehoe. Excellent on the day were Mark Fanning, John Leacy, Matt Doyle and Jack Fenlon while Daire Barron also impressed with five points from play.
Our Junior hurlers were unfortunately defeated by Rathnure on Sunday afternoon in the league.
TABLE QUIZ: Thanks to those who supported the table quiz run by the Senior hurlers on Friday last in the clubhouse. It was a packed house and an enjoyable evening was had by all.
GAA CLUB LOTTO
Club lotto numbers drawn Wednesday, June 1: 6, 11, 23, 32. No jackpot winner. There were 10 match-three winners : Conor Kavanagh, Liz McGarry, Paddy Butler, Iain Wickham, PJ Carley, Mary Doyle, John Leacy, Ruairi Crawford, Neil Roche, Gus Huszar. Jackpot remains at € 10,000. Reserve jackpot is now € seven,800. The next draw will take place in Marty B's on Wednesday, June 15.
The under-12 Green team travelled to Ramsgrange on Sunday evening to take on St James in the league. A closely fought first half saw the two teams neck and neck as the girls threw their hearts into the game. Still close in the second half, the home team then pulled away to win. A great spirited match by both teams and a joy to watch. Our girls couldnt have given more and enjoyed every minute. Thanks also to some of the under-11s who turned up at short notice to help out and make up the numbers.
Our under-14 Ladies Green football team put in a tremendous performance on Thursday evening in Killurin when they defeated a very good Clonee side. The final score was 10-4 to 3-6. Well done to all. The Blue team are away to Slaney Gaels on Thursday, June 16, so best of luck to them.
Everyone in Glynn-Barntown GAA, camogie and Ladies' Football Clubs would like to wish all members sitting state examinations over the next few weeks the very best of luck.
Congratulations to the boys and girls in Barntown National School who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday last. Many thanks to Ms. Stamp and her school choir who gave a lovely performance on the day.

Father David's Jubilee
Fr David Murphy will celebrate his Silver Jubilee on Friday, June 17, commencing with Mass in St Garvan's Church, Caroreigh at 7.30 p.m. followed by refreshments in Camross Hall.
A reminder to the parishioners of Trinity and Caroreigh areas : it would be greatly appreciated if each household could make sandwiches and a cake for the event and take them to Camross Hall between 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. on that evening.
Help will be required to prepare the hall at 9 p.m. on Thursday 16th and help will also be required to serve teas at the event on 17th also. All assistance and help greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.
Caroreigh Parents Council
Wishing Caroreigh Children's' Choir the best of luck with their second production of 'Showtime 2' on Wednesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from the school from Monday 13th, (053 9134294). Many thanks to Ms Anita Cullen and Miss Stapleton for their work all year with the pupils. Last Christmas they produced a lovely CD called 'Christmas Crackers'. Its great to see the wonderful talents the pupils have, keep up the great work everyone.
Dancing at Camross
The July dance will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday, July 1, with music by the very popular Liam Mannering with dancing from 10 p.m. till late. Admission is €8 including the Tea.
The annual Pattern will be held in Kilgarvan cemetery on Sunday, June 26, with Mass at 2 p.m. followed by Blessing of graves.
Our Intermediate hurling team had a good win over Our Lady's Island in the league over the weekend;, next weekend our Intermediate football team play Kilmore in the league on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. in Kilmore.
Our Club lotto draw is on this Tuesday night, June 14, when the jackpot will be €2900, please have your tickets in the Center at 7.30 p.m.

The under-12 football team played their first football league game against St James last week and have a home game on Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. against Cushinstown.
The under-14s have been putting in a great effort at their recent away games, keep up the good work.
The under-10s played in final blitz of Caulfield league hurling in Fethard on Wednesday and put in two terrific performances.On Friday they played their first county league football game v Cushinstown. They played two games showing wonderful skills and interplay for their first game of the year.
On Sunday morning we played Fethard in the final of the Caulfield league hurling, despite being short a number of players they put up a great performance. A great day was had by all. They will play football and hurling games on Friday evenings over the next few weeks.
The society's next outing will be in Wexford GC on Saturday, June 25, starting at midday. The Whitford House Hotel are kindly sponsoring us for this outing so everybody please go back there for the prizegiving and a meal. Time of prizegiving will be announced on the day.
Bring along a friend as a visitor or contact a lapsed member to reinvigorate them. When you get your text messages for this outing from a committee member would you all please answer swiftly as it helps the committee to organise the day more efficiently for you.

Very well done to our four athletes who competed in the All-Ireland schools competition in Tullamore. James Hanlon took third in the boys junior walk. Brónagh O'Hanlon finished seventh in the girls inter hammer. Aisling Kelly finished fifth in the girls minor hurdles and Pádraig got second in the inter boys discus, 42.03m. Very well done to all of you achieving such great results.
