Historical Society Tour
A Bannow Historical Society tour will take place on Saturday, July 16. The coach will leave from Ballymitty school car park at 9.30 a.m. We will visit Mount Congreve Gardens, Portlaw Heritage Centre and Curraghmore House and gardens. GAA club notes
Lotto draw winning numbers 16, 21, 28 and 31. No jackpot and no match-three winners. Next draw will take place in the Complex on Tuesday, July 12. Tickets can be purchased in the Post Office Carrig, Seabreeze Laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg Wellington Bridge or any Club Officer down in the Complex.
We have our County men back to the club after last week's Football defeat over Fermanagh. Unfortunately that's their year over and done with, well done Ben, Philly and Kiernan for your contribution to the County Squad.
The Féile Boys done themselves, their Families and their Club very proud last weekend down in Kerry. They arrived in their host towns on Friday afternoon and played Mount Leinster Rangers in the first match 5-8 to no score, not a bad start. Next up was Skellig/Valentia with a score line B/B 3-09 and 1-1 S/V. On Day two they played the host Club St, Michaels Foilmore with another win for the club 4-8 to 3-5. This brought them to the quarter final game against Reenard a Kerry team. Unfortunately this was the last game, final score 2-2 Reenard 3-4. Four great performances with three good wins. We had no winner in the last Model County draw. Once again thank you to everyone who supports the draw. All fixtures and venues are on the Facebook page and Twitter account.
We wish to extend deepest condolences to Mossie Doyle and the Mernagh/Doyle Families on the sad passing of Eithne. Many a good session and few pints were had after a match.
Corach Ramblers AGM will take place in Carrig Community Hall on Friday, July 8, at 8 p.m. All players, mentors and parents are welcome. Anyone who would like to put a motion forward for the coming season is asked to text Club Secretary Clodagh at 087 9314692 by Wednesday, July 6.
This week's split-the-pot took place in Breen's Of the Dirr. The winner was Danielle Byrne, Boley, Ballycullane. She won €738. Well done Danielle. Ticket was drawn by Harry Lacey in Breen's of the Dirr.
The people of Bannow parish were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of local publican Eithne Mernagh Doyle last Wednesday. Eithne was 55 years of age and is survived by her husband Mossy brothers Billy and Eamonn relatives and friends.
Her remains were taken from Ryan's funeral parlour on Friday evening to Carrig church for prayers and funeral mass was at midday in Carrig church on Saturday morning with burial afterwards in St David's cemetery Oylegate. May she rest in peace.
Wexford bus time change
Please note the change of bus times to Wexford from Carrig-on-Bannow and Grantstown. On Wednesdays from July 6 the bus will leave Grantstown at 10 a.m., then Carrig-on-Bannow at 10.05 a.m. and arrive in Wexford at 10.35/10.45 a.m., departing Wexford at 2.30 p.m. On Saturdays from July 2 the bus departs Grantstown at 12.45 p.m., then Carrig-on-Bannow at 12.55 p.m., departing Wexford at 5 p.m. There is no booking required from the village, contact 053 9196276 for further information.
The Bannow/Rathangan Show takes place on Thursday, July 14, at Killag, Duncormick with all the usual attractions and some new ones this year. Entries can be given to secretary Anne White at 053 9148847 or 087 6121008. Entry into the show is just €8 with children and OAPs free, so come along and enjoy a great day out for all the family.
The Tullicanna Music Festival takes place on Sunday, July 17, a Stafford's of Tullicanna, performing on the day will be Mojo, Hot Ashpphalt, Cian McGovern, Jimmy Clooney and Friends. Music starts at 5 p.m., and there will be a barbecue and Colcannon, all proceeds from the day are going to Windmill Therapeutic Centre Wexford and Wexford Able/Disabled Club Clonard.

St Vincent De Paul Collection: SVP conference Clonard wish to thank most sincerely all who contributed so generously to our collection, the amount raised €4,017.38. World Youth Day: Thank you to all who attended and supported the coffee morning in the Community Centre recently. The amount raised was €470.

First Aid summer camp
The Order of Malta will be running its popular First Aid summer camp in their Training Centre and Ambulance Base in St John's Drive from July 12 to 15. Leo Carthy Weekend
The annual Leo Carthy Traditional weekend will take place on Saturday 30th July/Sunday first August, starting with an opening concert in Our Lady's Island Community Centre on Saturday at 8.30p.m. sharp, promising a great night of music, song, comedy and special guests. Festivities will continue on Sunday with a fun run, live open air music on the green plus entertainment for children.
Our AGM took place on Thursday 30th June in Tomhaggard Social Centre and the following committee were elected for the coming year: Chairman Paddy McGuire, Secretary Brenda Murphy, Treasurer Terence O'Byrne and PRO Trisha Boyce.
The Ballycogley Players would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family of the late Doris Kelly, Killinick who passed away recently. Doris was an avid supporter of our group and we will miss her presence at our future productions. May she rest in peace.
Tennis at St Martin's
Adult tennis fun nights for beginners will be held on Wednesdays from 7.00 p.m. to 9 p.m. over the summer months. All welcome, fee €2 for non-members, rackets and balls provided. Come along and give it a go.

ARA Club trip
Spanish Trip: there will be a meeting on July 19 at 7.30 p.m. in St Martin's Community Centre for everyone travelling on this trip on October 5 to Pineda de Mar. Final Balance, Single Room Supplement and Booked Seats amount will need to be paid on this night. If anyone wishes to travel on any other extra trips they will also need to be booked in advance and paid in advance, this can be organised at this meeting (minimum of 10 people for any extra trips). The Day trip to Barcelona is included in the fare so advance booking/payment does not apply to this trip. If you have any questions, please call Ann at 087 6677411.
ARA club barbecue
Piercestown Active Retirement Club closed their yearly activities on Tuesday, June 28, with a lovely barbecue at the Scout and Guide Hall, with Jack, jim and Shane 'cooking up a storm'. Thank you to the Scout Group Leaders who host this event every year for the ARA Club members, over 30 members attended.
The ARA Club is closed now till September 6. Meeting times 2.30 - 4.30 and we would love to see more people over 55 joining our club and enjoying the many activities which are held throughout the year.
All age groups have closed for the summer break. The Scout Group enjoyed many activities during the year, cubs going to Jamoige National Camp in Limerick in early June and they attended with the Venturers at the 'Wamboree' event in Kilmore last weekend. this was a fundraiser for Syrian Refugees organised by Kilmore Scouts Josh and Hayley and over 2000 was raised, with over 200 youth and leaders attending. so well done to everyone for a great weekend.
Piercestown Group will hold their registration night for next scouting year on Tuesday, August 30, at 7.30 p.m. All current members and any new entrants should come along this night to register. annual registration fee to Scouting Ireland Dublin is €45 per member.
The group have very few leaders in the Beaver and Scout and Venturer Sections and would encourage and invite any parent or friend to contact Group Leader Jane Power with a view to discuss joining the group for the coming year.
Many activities may be curtailed due to lack of leaders at events if we don't get more adults in to join as leaders to ensure the Child Protection rules are adhered to within the group. Contact Jane Power at 086 3265406.

Piercestown-Murrintown Community Games will hold their annual Church Gate Collection after Mass in Piercestown and Murrintown on Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10. We would appreciate your support.
The lotto jackpot of €3,200 wasn't won last week, the winning numbers were 16, 21, 28, and 31, and there were no match 3s. Our next lottery will be on July 12, when the lotto jackpot will be €3,500.
Our Intermediate hurling team play in the final of the Kinsella Cup this Tuesday night V Horeswood in Taghmon at 8 p.m., and our final Hurling league game is on next Sunday evening V Rathnure in Taghmon at 7 p.m.
We had no winners in the final Co GAA development draw last week, once again we would like to thank all those who bought tickets to support our club for 2016.
Athletic club news
Very well done to Brónagh O'Hanlon and Pádraig Hore who both competed for Leinster in the Tailteann interprovincial school championships in the Morton Stadium.
Bronagh finished sixth in the hammer, and Pádraig had great success taking medals in both his events. Second in the discus and third in the shot putt.
Muireann Hore competed in the Athletics events South Leinster Area Advancement for the special Olympics in the Watershed, Kilkenny with a great achievement of taking gold in the shot putt and Silver in the 100m sprint. Ray O'Brien finishing the Viking full marathon in a time if 4:14 and 31 sec. Very well done Ray. Very well done to all our athletes.
