Murrintown

Split-the-pot

The weekly winner of Split the Pot was Paul Smith winning €1,125. Draw takes place each Monday night at Murrintown Bingo. Be in to win.

ARA Club news

Spanish Trip: there will be a meeting on July 19 at 7.30 p.m. in St Martin's Community Centre for everyone travelling on this trip on October 5 to Pineda de Mar. Final Balance, Single Room Supplement and Booked Seats amount will need to be paid on this night. If anyone wishes to travel on any other extra trips they will also need to be booked in advance and paid in advance, this can be organised at this meeting (minimum of 10 people for any extra trips). The Day trip to Barcelona is included in the fare so advance booking/payment does not apply to this trip. If you have any questions, please call Ann at 087 6677411.

The ARA Club is closed now till September 6. Meeting times 2.30 - 4.30 and we would love to see more people over 55 joining our club and enjoying the many activities which are held throughout the year.

Our Lady's Island

Carne FC

Carne FC are holding their annual general meeting this Friday, July 22, at 8 p.m. in Our Lady's Island Community Centre. Anyone wishing to become involved in the club in any way are most welcome to attend the meeting.

Table quiz

A table quiz in aid of Our Lady's Island Parish funds will take place in Lighthouse Bar, Carne this Wednesday, July 20, at 9 p.m. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Summer Sale

Kilscoran Union Summer Sale will be held at Community Centre, Rosslare Strand this Thursday, July 21, at 7 p.m. Cakes, home produce, Bric-a-brac, raffle etc.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to Phyllis Devereux, Ballymacane who won split-the-pot last week receiving €231. Envelopes available at O'Dohertys, Post Office, Lobster Pot, Butler's St Iver's and Meyler's Millhouse. All proceeds to Church Restoration Fund. Thanks to all concerned

Coffee Shop

The Community Coffee shop is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Looking forward to seeing all our community and visitors come along to enjoy the cuppa and chat. If you would like to help or bake you will be most welcome.

Leo Carthy Weekend

The annual Leo Carthy Traditional weekend will take place on Saturday, July 30/Sunday, July 31, with opening Variety Concert in Our Lady's Island Community Centre on Saturday at 8 p.m. sharp with Danescastle Music Group, Temple Michael Ceili Band, George Lawlor, Yvette Walshm Ciara and Sinéad McCoy, Brendan Wickahm and Co., Paddy Scallan, Nicola and Martina Keane and comedy with Ballycogley Players.

Festivities will continue on Sunday with 6km Fun Run (regisgtration from 11.30 a.m.) starts 12.30 All welcome to walk or run our scenci route. Mumming Exhibitrion with Drinagh Mummers at 2.30 p.m., followed by Live Open Air music with Teresa and the Stars. 4.30 to 7 p.m. Traditional music and song with numerous wellknown local artists. Kids entertainment - Treasure Hunt, Obstacle Course, Bouncy Castle, face painting etc.

GAA. Lotto

Tennis at St Martin's

Adult tennis fun nights for beginners will be held on Wednesdays from 7.00 p.m. to 9 p.m. over the summer months. All are welcome, fee is €2 for non-members, with rackets and balls provided. Come along and give it a go.

Also Parks Junior Tennis will be on during July from 9.30 a.m. each weekday morning. Weekly rates available.

Scouts news

Piercestown Group will hold their registration night for next scouting year on Tuesday, August 30, at 7.300 p.m. All current members and any new entrants should come along this night to register. annual Registration fee to Scouting Ireland Dublin is €45 per member.

The group have very few leaders in the Beaver and Scout and Venturer Sections and would encourage and invite any parent or friend to contact Group Leader Jane Power with a view to discuss joining the group for the coming year. Many activities may be curtailed due to lack of leaders at events if we don't get more adults in to join as leaders to ensure the Child Protection rules are adhered to within the group. Forth Walking Group meets every Saturday Morning at 10 a.m. at lay by beside Regal Lodge. New members always welcome.

TRX/Pilates Classes

Danescastle Music Group

Danescastle Music Group will host Seisiún, an evening of traditional music, song and dance every Tuesday night in Loftus Hall commencing at 8.30 p.m. Show starts this Tuesday, July 5, and will run every Tuesday during July and August. Afternoon Tea

The Skrine family have kindly offered to host an Afternoon Tea and Garden party on Sunday, August 7, at Butlerstown Castle in aid of Tomhaggard social centre.

The Skrine family are great supporters of the Social Centre, attending many social and cultural events while Helen read stories from her book at a Story and Poetry evening. More details closer to the event.

Sewing & Knitting Club

Cleariestown Sewing and Knitting Club would like to think everyone who bought tickets for the Patchwork Quilt at the Cleariestown Pattern and field day. Winner of the Quilt was Ryan Scallon and the other prizes on the day were: Maggie Whitty, Anne Sinnott, Billy Jordan and Richard Rochford.

Tomhaggard Centre

Women's Shed continues Mondays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reading Room is open at same time to borrow, swop or just browse books. Ladies busy with crafts and Community garden at present.

Drama for Young people

There are plans afoot to host a series of workshops aimed at teenage/young adults starting in August/September at the Tomhaggard Social Centre. More details later.

Music and Song

An afternoon of music and song in Colclough Walled Garden in Tintern Abbey takes place on Sunday, July 24, at 4.30 p.m. Admission €5 at gate. Refreshments afterwards in Vine Cottage.

Just in case of inclement weather we will hold instead in the Church of the Holy Spirit St Leonards.
