Ambrosetown Patron

The Ambrosetown Patron will take place on Wednesday, August 17, at 8 p.m. This year a collection of money will be held for essential maintenance to our graveyard.

Wall repairs, gate repairs and protection of the church gable and window in the graveyard are all jobs that need urgent attention. With a little bit of support we can make a start on these jobs, over time. Wexford County Council will also be asked to support our project. Any help you can give, would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Dancing

Irish Country Music and social dancing continues every Thursday night in Tir Nog Wellingtonbridge with music this Thursday, July 28, by Tom Power the Latchico and Saturday, July 30, by Mary Pendergast and Country Highways the singing nurse from Waterford.

BINGO

A Monster drive in bingo will be held in Ballymitty on Sunday, July 31, at 3 p.m., with €1,600 in prize money. Proceeda are in aid of Ballymitty hand club.

Seisiún

GAA club notes

This week's lotto jackpot is €3,800 and will take place in Taghmon on Tuesday evening. Tickets can be purchased from the Post Office Carrig, Seabreeze laundrette Carrig, Tír na nÓg Wellington Bridge or any Club Officer down in the Complex. Tickets are only two euro or a book of six for 10 euro.

Well done to all the young people who enjoyed the Cúl Camps in Grantstown last week. Everyone that attended enjoyed the week with glorious weather for a change and they also received lovely colourful gear.

Both of Junior Ladies and Mens football teams travelled to Fethard in Championship games last week. Unfortunately the Ladies lost by six points final score Bannow/Ballymitty 1-05 Fethard 1-11. While the men flew through their match with a good win b/b 4-11 f2-08. The two corner back's even put scores over and under the bar.

Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €3,000. The winning numbers were 1, 20, 21 and 27. Congratulations to the four match-three winners who each received €75. The match-three winners were Alan Cloney, Ronnie Doyle, June and Caroline Ellard, Catherine Walsh. The next lottery will be held on Tuesday, July 19, and the jackpot now stands at €3,300.

Forth Walking Group

Forth Walking Group meets every Saturday Morning at 10 a.m. at the lay-by beside the Regal Lodge. New members always welcome.

TRX/Pilates Classes

Sewing/Knitting Club

Cleariestown Sewing and Knitting Club would like to think everyone who bought tickets for the Patchwork Quilt at the Cleariestown Pattern and field day. Winner of the Quilt was Ryan Scallon and the other prizes on the day were: Maggie Whitty, Anne Sinnott, Billy Jordan and Richard Rochford.

Tractor Run

Please note that the date of the tractor run has changed to Sunday, July 31. The run will consist of tractors, vintage cars and motorcycles. You can also run or cycle. Registration begins at midday at Cleariestown Community Centre. Run will commence at approx 1 p.m. Refreshments served. All support greatly appreciated.

Scouts

Kilmore scouts took part in the Seafood festival parade in Kilmore Quay last week. Brumjammers are making final arrangements for their big adventure when 38 adults and youths head to the International scout jamboree in Birmingham from July 29 to August 6.

Youth drama workshop

Are you interested in drama or want to try something new? There are plans afoot to run a series of fun workshops during August and September. Contact 087 6812690 to put down expression of interest.

Tomhaggard centre

A big thank you to everyone who took part, supported and helped out at the annual Tractor Road Run last weekend. It was a fantastic occasion with €1,091 raised towards the Social Centre.

WoMen's Shed continues weekly Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., except August 1 (bank holiday) and August 8 (annual break). New members welcome. Reading Room open at the same time.

Date for your diary - Afternoon tea party and Craft Fair on September 3, includes home baking, handmade crafts, comedy with Ballycogley Players.

Garden Party

The Skrine family have kindly offered to host an Afternoon Tea and Garden party on Sunday, August 7, at Butlerstown Castle, in aid of Tomhaggard social centre.

Rathangan Patron

The annual patron mass will take place on Monday, August 15, at 1.30 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the School after mass. Tickets are now on sale for our annual Raffle. They can be bought at all local shops and business outlets in the Parish and from Parish Council members.

Market/Family Fun Day

On Saturday, August 13, we are holding a Farmers Market and Family Fun Day at Rathangan Hall starting at midday We'll have all the usual fun activities for kids to do on the day, including Bouncy Castles, Archery, Electric Zoo, Fun and Games, Face-painting, Hair-braiding and much more for the whole family to enjoy. The Farmers Market will be held at the Hall while the Fun Day will take place on the GAA Grounds.

Taghmon Camross

Caroreigh field day

All roads will lead to Caroreigh on this Sunday, July 31, for the 48th annual field day, which will kick off at 1.30 p.m. with Fancy Dress and Vintage Parade led by the New Ross and Distrct Pipe Band. All the usual stalls will be in full swing and amusements will be in operation.

Come along for an enjoyable afternoon and meet up with old friends over a cup of tea. There will be races for girls and boys from under six years to under 14 years, also the Grand Raffle, bring your dog along for the Dog Show and no matter what your interests may be, you will find it at the Caroreigh field day. See you there.

Dancing at Camross

Brendan and Patricia Lee will have you all dancing the night away at the August Dance in Camross Ballroom which will be held on Friday, August 5, with dancing from 10 p.m. to midnight. Admission is €8 including the tea.

coiste na nog

Coiste na nOg are running a fundraiser Barbecue on the Saturday night of the Bank Holiday Weekend, July 30. Music by Freeway from 10 p.m. Tickets are €5 each, which include a burger, and are available from any of the underage Managers. We are planning on having the barbecue and music in a Marquee downstairs, weather permitting, should be a fun night for all. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Cul camp: Once again another successful Cul Camp has come and gone for Taghmon/Camross. Thankfully the children had one of the better weeks weather-wise with the rain staying away and the sun making an appearance for some of the days. This year the dates were moved to July and numbers remained similar to other years with 87 children taking part.

The Cul Camp Gear for the children was also more successful this year in comparison to previous years with all the kids getting their full set before the end of the week which makes a very welcome change for all concerned. All 42 children who booked early this year also received their Cul Camp Gear before the start of the camp as promised. A big thank you to all who made the week both successful and enjoyable for the children.

athletics club

Very well done to our new Irish International athlete. Pádraig competed in the schools international in Kent. He finished seventh in both discus and shot. A fantastic achievement, and a great new experience.

Best of luck to our four athletes competing in the last weekend of the All-Ireland finals in Tullamore Joseph Hanlon, James Hanlon, Aisling Kelly and Bronagh O'Hanlon.
