Clonard GAA

Our under-12 Footballers played Ballyhogue recently and they came home without the points. Our thanks to the parents and grandparents, who drove to Bree. Get well soon to one of the stars, Barry who broke two fingers, in the match.

We sent a team of hurlers to the Halo Tiles Wexford GAA Centre of Excellence for the Halo Tiles under-11 Blitz. This was brilliantly organised, the set up was magnificent. The Clonard under-10s played away to St Mary's of Rosslare in Tagoat. A sincere well done is due to all players on their performances. With seventeen players available on the night Clonard fielded two teams - a nine-a-side and an eight-a-side team. We are training again on Tuesday to keep progressing.

Clonard under-eights played Kilmore in Kilmore. Both clubs played two teams against each other in good spirited football contests. It was great to see the honest efforts of the Clonard blues in keenly contested matches. Overall it was a good work out for the Cluain Ard under-eights. Sincere thanks to the parents who were able to travel on the day and our host in Kilmore.

Congratulations to Jamie Tomkins on winning €264 in this week's split-the-pot. Seller this week was Shirley Murphy. A big thank you to all who supported us this week and thank you to all our sellers. Next week's envelopes are on sale now, your continued support would be greatly appreciated.

Our under-14 girls worked hard in their championship game against Féile champs Bunclody in Killurin on Thursday evening but had to settle for second place on this occasion. Well done to Emma Sweeney, Cora Doyle, Aisling Halligan and Ger Sweeney and the Co. Under-16 camogie team on their fantastic championship win over Tipperary on Sunday 4-10 to 3-10.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Bridget (Doyle) and John Walsh who were married on Friday and celebrated a fantastic day with family and friends in the Riverside Park Hotel. We wish them health, wealth and happiness in their marriage.

Hard luck to our under-16 hurlers who put in a great effort v Oylegate-Glenbrien on Monday evening in Killurin but were defeated.

Our under-10s travelled to Hollymount on Monday evening to play two great games v Shelmaliers and Castletown. The under-10 hurlers also played Monageer away on Friday evening but were beaten.

Both our under-12 Boys hurling teams played away to Shelmaliers on Tuesday evening with our hosts coming out on top. Hard luck lads.

On Thursday evening our under-14 hurlers put in a great performance against Féile final rivals Buffers Alley in Killurin and forced a draw.

Hard luck to Ger Dempsey and the Wexford Minor hurling team who lost their All-Ireland Hurling qualifier to the Limerick on the Sunday.

Ladies football

Our under-16 ladies' football team travelled to Ballygarret on Monday evening to play the host team and came away with a well earned victory.

On Tuesday evening it was the turn of the Junior Ladies' Footballers who played their quarter final in Bellefield v Starlights but were defeated.

Unfortunately our under-14 Blue team lost out to Shamrocks on Friday evening in Killurin. In what was a fiercely contested match the girls put in a huge effort. A big thanks to all the under-12 girls who played, showing that the future is in good hands.

The under-10 Green/White team also played a blitz hosted by Crossabeg-Ballymurn n Saturday where they won five out of the six games played. Great sportsmanship was shown yet again as some of the girls played with Slaney Gaels to make up numbers.

The under-10 Blue/White team played some great football also on Saturday morning at the Shelmaliers blitz winning two of the three matches. Well done to all.
