Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €5,100. The winning numbers were 2, 3, 20 and 22. Congratulations to the seven match-three winners who each received €43.

The match-three winners were Henry Harpur, Murty Ryan, Seán Connick, Lorcan Stafford, Peter Colfer, Eily Colfer, Ellen Sinnott.

The next lottery will be held on Tuesday, September 13, and the jackpot now stands at €5,400.

Variety Group

Rathangan Variety Group will have an information night on 'Oklahoma the Musical' on Wednesday, September 21, at 8 p.m. in Rathangan Hall.

Audition Dates are Wednesday, September 28, at 8 p.m. and Friday, September 30, at 8 p.m. in Rathangan Hall.

Existing members are asked to attend, new members from first year upwards are more than welcome.

Table quiz

Duncormick Area Action Group and Tidy Towns Committee will hold a table quiz in Sinnott's Pub on Wednesday, October 12, at 9 p.m. Tables €20. Refreshments served. Proceeds in aid of river walk development.

50th Celebration

The St Anne's junior football champions of 1966 are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their historic victory that year.

This was the first ever adult county victory for the club. The venue for the celebration will be Baldwinstown Hall. This is the place which they used for togging out and planning, before going up to Rowe's field to train in the winter for the semi-final and final and where all meetings of the club took place at that time.

It is hoped to have all 24 members of that team or their relatives at the function. Noel Rochford from Kilmannon is hoping to be home for it from Australia and all are looking forward to a great night on Sunday, September 18.

Money for Jam

Calling all jam making a blackberry picking enthusiasts. The forthcoming Harvest Festival to be held in Duncormick on October 1 and two, are looking for your help. If you are in the habit of jam making, why not donate some of your produce to our 'Money for Jam Appeal'. The idea is to fundraise for the upkeep of Church grounds at Duncormick Church. Kids' disco

There is a kids' disco on Saturday, September 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Rathangan Hall for primary school aged kids. Music by DJ Gary, spot prizes, raffle tickets. Fully supervised. Admission €3. This disco is being held by Triona Marie Cleary from Duncormick to fund her upcoming trip to World Championship in Kick Boxing with Team Ireland so please come along and support. Michael English

To mark the Bicentenary of Mulrankin church Michael English and his band will be performing in cabaret at Clayton Whites Hotel Wexford on November 24 at 8.30 p.m. Tickets costing €20 are avauilable by calling 087 9136932 or 087 2052820 and are also available at the hotel reception. This promises to be a great occasion so book early to avoid disappointment.


Meetings resume in Tomhaggard social centre on Wednesday, September 14, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. for cubs, scouts and ventures while beavers resume on Saturday, September 17, from 10 a.m.-11.30 a.m. Cub section is full, and there is limited space in other sections.

A 'Breakfast Morning' will be held in Kilmore hall on Sunday, September 18, from 9.30 p.m. to 1 p.m. Full Irish Breakfast €5, with proceeds in aid of Tomhaggard social centre.

Ballycogley Players

Well done to all those who were involved in organising the Afternoon Tea Party/Craft Fair on Saturday, September 3, in Tomhaggard Social Centre. It was a fantastic afternoon and those who were lucky enough to attend were treated to a lovely cuppa and a gorgeous selction of very tasty sandwiches, cakes, buns and sweet treats. Various arts and crafts stalls were on display in the main hall with some lovely bits and bobs on display. The evening ended with comedy sketches by the Ballycogley Players and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The 3-act play for the 2017 season has been chosen by director Breda Hayes. 'Lay me down softly' by Billy Roche will be the production that we will stage next year at the drama festivals with the following cast, Seán Carthy, Jack Allen, Ellen Cloney, Paddy McGuire, Chris Maddock and Trish Boyce.

The 1-act plays will take place during the Wexford Opera Festival from Thursday the 27th to Sunday, October 30, in St Michael's hall, Thomas Street, Wexford. For more information please contact Fintan Murphy 087 6812690.

Rosslare Lifeboat Memorial Committee will host a table quiz in Redmond's the Bay on Tuesday, September 13, at 9 p.m. during the Rosslare Small Boats Festival. Tables of four are €20 - all are welcome. Proceeds go towards upgrading and improvements to the Lifeboat Memorial in the Burrow-Rosslare.

English tutors required

Failte Isteach, voluntary organisation is looking for volunteers to teach English to foreign nationals living in Wexford. Tutors will teach in Wexford town two hours a week (Tuesday nights 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) in a very informal set up. Come and meet people from different countries and teach them English with the help of our own specially designed material. No qualification needed.
