Adamstown

Cards

The weekly '30' card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday, September 16, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Proceeds going to Parish Funds. Catering on Friday the 16th will be: Nancy Walsh, Kathleen O'Connor, Catherine Moore and Tina Whelan; on Friday the 23rd will be: Liz Furlong, Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney; on Friday the 30th will be: Ann Marie Mackey, Ann Redmond and Mary Furlong.

Adamstown lotto

The winning numbers in the Adamstown lottery on Friday, September 2, were 7, 8, 14 and 16. There was no jackpot winner, the following six players matched three numbers and each got €35. Liam McDonald, Rathurtin, James Furlong, Castle Lodge, Tom Furlong Jnr, Castle Lodge, Johnny Bradley, Ballyvergin, Aidan Furlong, Coonogue, Tom Cahill, Templenacrow.

The next draw for a jackpot of €13,000 takes place on Friday, September 16, in the Community Centre. Keep buying the tickets, and in doing so supporting the local GAA, Soccer and parish.

ICA guild

Our September meeting will take place on Wednesday night, September 14, in the Community Centre at 8 p.m. Looking forward to seeing all the ladies back after the summer break. Please keep Sunday, October 30, free for our annual sponsored walk. Last year we donated €1,650 to the Community Centre for the purchase of a new cooker which has been put to great use. Thanks to all who supported the walk. New members are always most welcome.

Our annual Patron

We thank God for the beautiful day on Sunday last when our annual Patron took place in St Abban's Cemetery. There was a very large attendance present and the whole cemetery looked splendid. Concelebrating Mass were Fr Odhran Furlong, Mr James Moynihan and Fr Jim Furlong. Due to illness Fr Nolan PP was unfortunately unable to attend, during mass Fr Moynihan blessed the graves.

Many thanks to the Cemetery Committee who work so diligently each year to keep our cemetery in great condition, thanks to those who prepared the outdoor altar, sound system and gazebo, clergy, choir, readers, Eucharistic ministers, Cait, Joe and everyone who helped in any way to enhance the ceremony for the congregation. Our thanks to Fás for all their work.

The cemetery committee wish to thank most sincerely everyone who contributed so generously to the collection for the upkeep of our cemetery, the total amount came to €2,455 for which they are very grateful for your generosity. We send our prayerful good wishes to Mrs Evelyn Cullen who is ill at this time. A special thanks to our stewards who looked after the parking arrangements for the large attendance.

Harvest Festival

Our 14th Harvest Festival takes place on Sunday, September 18, in Adamstown. Wheel of fortune, Dolly's stall, bric-a-brac, Dog Show on field, Weight of Lamb, Treasure Hunt, Lucky Dip, Bouncy Castle, Shop, Games and fun. Raffle for hampers, events start at 1 p.m.

Confectionery very welcome for teas. As with other years, loaves of bread for sandwiches may be collected at Cullen's shop from Friday night. Help is needed on the day, please spare a few hours if you can.

All proceeds will go to Sr. Helen Delaney, who works tirelessly to help the very needy in Uganda. A short meeting this Thursday, September 15, in the Community Centre at 8.30 p.m.

Bodhran Classes

Bodhran classes will commence in late September. Beginners and advanced will be catered for. For further details contact Seán Furlong at 087 3108333.

Prayer Group

The prayer group will recommence on Sunday, September 11, at 7 p.m. in St Abban's Oratory. Guest speaker is Fr Joe Walsh, Templemore and he will speak about 'The family and forgiveness'. The prayer group has arranges for a day of reflection in Ballyvaloo on Friday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., cost €10 including lunch, to reserve a place please call Breda at 087 2029931.

Bree/Galbally

Bree CEP Vacancies

Bree CEP is currently taking applications for two vacancies - Childcare Assistant (Bri Beag) Ref CES-2010365 and Caretaker/Groundskeeper (Ballyhogue GAA) Ref CES-2010372. Applications should be made directly to your local Department of Social Protection Office quoting the reference number; qualifying criteria and Garda Vetting applies. Childcare applicants should ideally have a FETAC Level five or higher Childcare qualification.

Community Centre

There will be a meeting of Bree Community Centre on Monday, September 19, at 8.30 p.m. All organisations using the centre are asked to ensure they have a representative attend.

All organisations and individuals using or wishing to use Bree Community Centre are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm bookings for use for the coming months. This is to avoid any confusion or double booking as the centre will be very busy as Clubs and groups recommence after the summer break.

Guitar Classes

Irish Dancing

The Wexford Academy of Irish Dancing has returned to classes after the summer break. Class times are as normal. New beginners on Saturdays at 10.30 a.m. An additional beginners' class on Tuesdays in Bree Community Centre from four to five for girls and a boys class from five to 6. Bree AC

The Kilmore Cross Country autumn League is taking place for a number of dates in September and October. Two rounds have been completed thus far with success on each evening for Bree AC athletes. Under-9 500m; Lea Bolger second and third, Ciara Laffan fourth and second, Jayden Kenny second and first and under-11 800m Katie Doyle first and first. The next round takes place in Kilmore GAA Grounds on Thursday, September 22, at 6.30 p.m. Best wishes to all involved.

The committee meeting of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre on Wednesday, September 14, at 8 p.m. The guild meeting of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre on Tuesday, September 20, at 8 p.m. and anyone wishing to join the guild would be very welcome.

Active Retirement

Grandparents Mass: This will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served in the Shamrock Room after Mass.

Stepping Out to Secondary school: There will be a Service at 7.30 p.m. in Clonard Church on Thursday, September 22, for all those who have started Secondary School. Family and friends also welcome.

Family Liturgy Group: This resumes practice on Wednesday evening from September 14 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. All children who have completed Senior Infants are welcome. Our first Mass will be on Sunday, September 25, at 10 a.m.

The People's College

These are the proposed evening classes for the autumn 2016 programme, starting September 12: Yoga, Art Watercolour/Acrylic, Flower Arranging, Creative Writing, Basic Sign Language Level one, Sign Language Level two, Genealogy, Conversational Irish, Self Defence for Women, Stained Glass Design, Computers Level one and Computers Level 2.

Cygnets/Brigins.

The Brigins are off to Dublin for the 1916 day and are stretching their legs on Saturday, September 24, up mount Leinster. The Cygnets are having fun getting to know each other.

Irish Dancing.

Classes with the Walsh School Of Irish Dancing start back on September 12 in Clonard Community Centre. Children's classes on Tuesday the 13th. Adult/Children classes will then be on Monday afternoons from four to 5.30 p.m., adult classes on Tuesday nights from 8.30 to 10 p.m. Beginners and Advanced classes. Wexford ICA

All members are most welcome to join, new and old, all ages and from all over Wexford. It's that time of year again ladies when the ICA gets back into full swing.

The first meeting of this year will take place on Thursday, September 15, at 7.30 p.m. in Coolcotts Community Centre. Our speaker will be very interesting and will give you that little push to get outside. We'll have Bernie Galvin (President of the Wexford Golf Club) speaking to us about the club.

The competition will be the most unusual or funniest pair of glasses. Be sure to enter. Looking forward to catching up with you all over a chat and cupán tae to hear all the summer tales.

FAB HUGGIE BEARS

FAB offers high quality childcare for children ranging in ages from 15 months to 12 years.

All our Team Leaders are highly and professionally qualified holding a minimum of a FETAC LEVEL six Childcare Certificate and are up-to-date in First Aid Training.

We have a limited number of places available in our playgroup/toddler rooms, playschool room and after-school room which includes a pick-up service from Scoil Mhuire Primary School.

Every child that has turned three years old by August 31, is entitled to free preschool.

We can offer reduced rates in the other rooms according to people's circumstances (those who are seeking social welfare payments, who have GP or Medical Cards, etc). English tutors required

Failte Isteach, voluntary organisation is looking for volunteers to teach English to foreign nationals living in Wexford. Tutors will teach in Wexford town two hours a week (Tuesday nights 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) in a very informal set up. Come and meet people from different countries and teach them English with the help of our own specially designed material. No qualification needed. Holy Family School

A 'Meet and Greet' with the Principal Mrs Cleere followed by the AGM will take place in the school on Thursday next, September 15, at 7.30 p.m. Please come along and join us on the night and lend your support. Tea and Coffee will be served. A

A coffee morning in aid of Hospice Home Care will be held in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate on Thursday, September 15, commencing at 11 a.m. All support would be greatly appreciated on the day for this very worthy appeal.

Our church register only discloses those baptised or married in Oylegate church and those interred in our cemetery (e.g. grooms from Oylegate most often do not marry in Oylegate.)

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration takes place every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Prayer Room in the church. We are looking for new members to commit to spending one-hour weekly (at a time of your choice) in prayer and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament.
