Memorial to the Dead

A Memorial to the Dead Booklet was produced through Bree Parish Office in conjunction with the Student summer Scheme in 1999. This Booklet both mapped and detailed the inscriptions on the gravestones in Bree new and old cemeteries, Clonmore cemetery and Ballybrennan cemetery. It is hoped to update the information on file to include additional inscriptions and headstones added to these cemeteries since 1999 but this will take some time to do.

We do have a number of the original booklets available from the Bree CEP/Parish Office if any parishioner would like one or perhaps for parishioners who no longer reside here it would be of interest. For further information please contact breeparish@eircom.net or breecep@eircom.net or telephone 053 9247613.

Tidy Towns

The SuperValu National Tidy Towns results were announced recently. Bree Tidy Towns are happy to report that Bree received an increase of six points this year on the 2015 judging mark of 299 to bring us to 305 points. Within the county Bree came first in Category A and are in fifth place overall in the county out of thirty one entrants.

This is a tremendous achievement and Bree continues to make steady upward progress in the competition. In fact based on the current awards we are approximately 10 points away from a possible Bronze Medal award in the competition.

None of this would be possible without the help and support of the local community and organisations. Thanks also to all the participants of Bree CEP who work hard all year round to keep the Village neat and tidy and looking its best
