Community lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot of €7,800. The winning numbers were seven eight 21 and 24 Congratulations to the four match-three winners who each received €75. The match-three winners were M Gallagher, Nicky O'Neill, Paul Kelly and Kay Doyle. The next lottery will be held on Tuesday, November 15, and the jackpot now stands at €8,100

Sympathy

We extend sincere sympathy to the family of Annie Gaul (Newtown) Cleariestown also to the family of Joe Lambert (The Twist) Rathangan and to the family of Christine Moore (Brownstown) Cleariestown. All who died recently. May they rest in peace.

Michael English night

St Vincent De Paul

St Vincent De Paul will have their annual Christmas collection on December 3/4 in Rathangan and Cleariestown after Mass. Your support would be greatly appreciated for this very worthy cause.

Adoration Group

The annual mass for the deceased members of the Duncormick Adoration Group will be held in Duncormick Church on Thursday morning November 17 at 9.30 a.m.

Bag Collection

Cleariestown Community Playgroup will be having a Fundraising used clothing collection on Monday, November 14. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes also bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Old mobile phones will also be accepted. You can drop off any items at the playschool any weekday morning between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

St Anne's GAA

Clubs AGM's - St Anne's Coiste na nÓg AGM will take place on Friday, November 11, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse; senior club AGM will take place on Friday, November 25, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse.

Church Gate Collection

There will be a church gate collection on Saturday/Sunday, November 19/20 after Mass in aid of Down's Syndrome Wexford. All money raised will go to help families in the county.

Daag News

Due to unforeseen circumstances the table quiz which was arranged for Wednesday, November 16, has been postponed to a later date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

The annual switching on of the Christmas lights will take place on Saturday, December 3. More details to follow.

Christmas Market

Tomhaggard social centre are holding a Christmas Market on Saturday, December 3, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Plenty of hand made crafts, Decorations, Christmas refreshments, raffle, plus Mrs Claus' Dilemma and Storytime in Library (free entertainment for children as a Thank You to the community). Ballycogley Players are performing their Comedy night 'Mayhem and Merriment' in St Helen's Golf Club Saturday, November 19, at 8 p.m. Meanwhile the cast of Lay Me Down Softly are taking boxing lessons for next year's festival play.

RNLI news

The Rosslare Harbour branch of the RNLI lost one of its loyal supporters in the past week with the sad passing of Mary O'Rourke. On behalf of all within the branch we extend our deepest sympathies to her husband Ron, to Eamonn our Coxswain, to Brian, Alan and Siobhan and the extended members of the O'Rourke family. Community Alert

The committee of Rosslare Harbour/Kilrane Community Alert Scheme wish to inform the community that a sufficent number of people have joined the text alert scheme to enable it to progress. However, in case anybody who wishes to join the scheme missed the opportunity to sign up, a further day has been arranged in Murphy's SuperValu for Friday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Please note that in order to join the scheme anybody who has already contributed to the scheme in 2015 must sign a form authorising the committee to give their phone number to the monitoring company under data protection legislation.

A number of people who have contributed have not signed this form. If you require any further information please contact any of the following Aedan Mac Fadden, Joan Walsh or Maeve O'Brien.

Men's Shed Quiz Nights

The first of our fundraiser quiz nights was held last Wednesday night in Culletons, Kilrane and was a great success. Thanks to everyone who supported on the night and to Derval of Culletons for all her help. Our next quiz night is next Wednesday, November 16, in Hotel Rosslare at 8.30 p.m. Hope to see you all then.

Obituaries

Condolences to the Walsh Family, Ard Na Mara, who suffered a double bereavement recently. Martina Bruns (née Walsh) passed away in Munich after a long illnes. Martina travelled to Germany in her twenties to teach and while there she met her future husband Volker. She was always very bubbly and had a great zest for life. She is deeply missed by her husband, children Karin and Sean, brothers Peter, Dermot, Ronan and Kieran, nephews and nieces relatives and friends.

After a few short weeks the community were saddened to hear of the passing of Ronan Walsh, Cousinstown, Tomhaggard and late of Rosslare Harbour. Ronan worked at Rosslare Europort, but had been in failing health for some time. He endured his illness with great courage and determination. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Patrick's Church Rosslare Harbour followed by burial in the new Cemetary Kilmore. He is sadly missed by his wife Anne, son Will, step-daughter Michaela, brothers Peter, Dermot and Kieran, grandchild Caelan, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and all his work colleagues. May they both rest in peace.

Drama News

The Ballycogley Players will present a 'Night of Comedy' in St Helen's Bay Golf and Country Club next Saturday night, November 19, at 8 p.m. Admission €10. A great night of laughs is guaranteed.

Development Association

The annual general meeting of the Association will be held on Wednesday, November 23, at 7.30 p.m. in Rosslare National School. A major change is planned for 2017 on how we manage our community and this meeting is your opportunity to express your views on the future of our community.

Christmas Craft Fair

Scoil Mhuire's annual Christmas Craft Fair takes place on December 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an ideal opportunity to start your Christmas Gift shopping please come along and support and have a cup of coffee and a mince pie. Photography Class

If so make a note in your diary for every Tuesday night seven to 9 p.m. Come along to a programme funded by Arthritis Ireland, Understanding Arthritis. A big thank you to all who helped with the massive Halloween Party over 60 little monsters had a great night.

Mother and baby group meets every Tuesday at 11 a.m. If you are a young mum and wish to meet others this is an ideal opportunity for you. Youth Club meet every Tuesday 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. Taek Won Do every Saturday Basic classes start at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and advanced 11 a.m. to midday.

Christmas Day Swim

It is hard to believe and I don't want to scare you but there is only seven weeks left to Christmas. So it is time to iron the togs and warm up the towel and get ready for the annual baptism in frosty waters that is the Christmas Day Swim. The bucket collection on the day is as always for St Mary's Day-care centre, but it is also a great opportunity for other organisations to raise money. Clothes Recycling

There is a clothes recycling drive on Saturday the 19th in aid of St Mary's National School parents' association. You can donate all your clean unwanted clothes, bed linen, towels, curtains, shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Wearable clothes will be re-used and other items will be recycled for items such as, industrial wipes and soundproofing. Laptops (must be intact with power lead and mobile phones are accepted but keep seperate.

All items can be dropped to the school between 9.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. The kids of the school can bring items in on Friday to school and earn a free homework pass.

The local Area Community Games AGM will be held on Friday, November 18, at 8 p.m. in Murrintown Community Centre.
