Ballymore-Mayglass

GAA lotto

The St Fintan's GAA lotto now stands at €7,800 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match-three prize of €300 up for grabs each week and Kay Doyle shared in this prize. Last week's numbers were 7, 8, 21 and 24. Many thanks for your continued support.

St Fintan's AGM

St Fintan's Club AGM will take place on Friday, December 2, in the Scout Hall Ballymore at 8 p.m. Any motions/proposals must be submitted to the club Secretary email address (secretary.stfintans.wexford@gaa.ie) before Wednesday, November 23. Nominations for club executives should also be submitted by email before Wednesday the 23rd.

Community website

The Ballymore/Maylass development committee website is now up and running at ballymoremayglass.com. It is just starting and over time it will contain updates on community developments, an events calendar and any other news. To submit any items to it you can email them to news@ballymoremayglass.com.

Cake Sale and Raffle

There will be a cake sale and raffle in Mayglass church porch on Saturday, November 26, before and after 7.30 p.m. mass. Donations of confectionary would be most welcome. Proceeds in aid of the day to day running of our parish. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Cabaret

Tickets are limited now for our Michael English night in White's Hotel as part of the Mulrankin church bicentenary celebration. We've also got some fantastic prizes to be won on the night, (hotel breaks etc)' so book your tickets now if you want to be part of this special occasion.

Sympathy

We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of James (Jim) Day, Moortown, Ballycogley who sadly died during the past week and whose remains were laid to rest in Ballymore cemetery following his funeral Mass in Ballymore church.

Our deepest sympathy is also extended to the family and friends of Christine Moore, Brownstown, Cleariestown who also died during the past week and was laid to rest following her funeral Mass in Cleriestown cemetery. May they both rest in peace.

Table quiz

A fundraising table quiz will be held in the Halfway House Ballycogley on Thursday, December 1, at 8 p.m. with the proceeds going towards the development of Ballycogley hall.A table of four will cost €20 and a fun night is guarenteed.

Rackard League

Congratulations to the combined schools of Mayglass and Broadway that had a great win in the semi-final of the Rackard league when they defeated Kilrush NS in Bree on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-5.

Singing And Swinging

Both Ye Olde Coopers Inn and the Merry Elf Killinick made up part of the twenty five different venues taking part in the 64th singing and swinging pubs competition as part of the Wexford Festival of Opera. Both premises gave their customers and supporters a night to remem, ber and were not to be denied when adjudicator Paul Kavanagh announced the prize winners.

The Merry Elf finished second in the variety section with its Hamish Stuart a nominee for best male and Katie Wright won the awardfor best female. In the traditional style section Ye Olde Coopers Inn took third place and its Tom Furlong was a nominee for the best male award. The best senior citizen award was won by Finn Kelly Ye Olde Coopers Inn and Peader Dempsey was a nominee for the Merry Elf. The Merry Elf also had anominee in the best comic section with Imelda Kehoe and John Wright chosen. So when it came to singing and swinging we were well represented. Well done, all.

Tomhaggard social centre are holding a Christmas Market on Saturday, December 3, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Plenty of hand made crafts, Decorations, Christmas refreshments, raffle, plus Mrs Claus' Dilemma and Storytime in Library (free entertainment for children as a Thank You to the community). Ballycogley Players are performing their Comedy night 'Mayhem and Merriment' in St Helen's Golf Club Saturday, November 19, at 8 p.m. Meanwhile the cast of Lay Me Down Softly are taking boxing lessons for next year's festival play.

All Blacks AFC

Congratulations to Aoibheann Rankin and Tara Cullen who have been selected for the under-11 Wexford LTC. Well done, girls. Congratulations to this week's winner Mary Scallan, in our split-the-pot Draw No. 45 at the Bargy Bar, Bridgetown on Monday, November 7. Winning Prize €410.

The under-14 girls travelled to Moyne Rangers Saturday morning and came away with all three points after an emphatic 9-0 win. Scorers on the day were Niamh Reese with a hatrick, Emma Carr (2), Seren Ward (2), Ciara Reese and Sarah Hendrick. Well done to all the squad.

Under-11 Schoolboys had a narrow defeat to North End. 2-1 with our goal from Fionn Mulligan. Great display of football by all in particular Aaron Ennis and Evan Jones. Well done to all.

A fantastic achievement for our under-13s boys who qualified for the last 32 in Ireland and the regional semi-final. The result was a home draw after a 1-0 SFAI cup win over a excellent Carrick Utd team. Great credit must go to everyone on the panel. Massive performances by all on the pitch with our goal coming from a last minute Kyle Rankin Penalty. MOTM was again Ben Rossiter his performance was outstanding from start to finish. His attack gave the All Blacks an advantage and he was taken down for our penalty opportunity. Thanks to everyone who supported on the day it was really appreciated by the boys.

The under-12 girls made it four wins out of four over last weekend with a 4: one victory over Gorey Rangers. Sophie Wallace opened the scoring for All Blacks and the girls were 1-0 up at halftime. Aoibheann Rankin, Kiera Casey and Tara Cullen were all on target in the second half and Gorey also got one back just before the end. It was a strong all round team performance. Well done to Aoife D, Aoife C, Tara, Abby, Cora, Aoibheann, Ciara M, Sophie and Kiera C.

Christmas Party

The Ballymore-Mayglass parish council Senior's Christmas party will be held in Danby Lodge Hotel on Sunday afternoon, December 4, at 3 p.m. Tickets will be distributed in the coming weeks. Please support our Christmas Raffle which helps to fund the Christmas party and will take place on Sunday, December 11.

Kilmore

Quay Fitness

A cardio/aerobics/dance and Toning class will take place every Monday in Kilmore Hall and Thursday in the Stella Maris Centre at 7 p.m. All fitness levels welcome as routines are easy to learn. Bring water and mat/towel for ground work at the end of class. Wear comfortable trainers. Free monthly weigh in and composition. Price per session €5.

Fundraiser

Quay Notes a capella choir will be performing a concert at St Peter's Church, Kilmore Quay on Saturday, December 3, at 7.30 p.m. in aid of Wexford Marine Watch. Also appearing on the night will be Laura Hyland, Tom and friends, Cáit Ní Mhártain and George Maloney, plus more. Tickets at €5 each are available from Stella Maris centre and PO.

RNLI coffee morning

Kilmore Quay Lifeboat will be holding its annual coffee morning on Sunday, November 20, in the station at 10.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. Christmas cards, calendars and gifts will be on sale that morning.

Bridgetown Handball

Micheál Busher and Bob Byrne remain unbeaten after good wins last week in Junior B Singles. In Junior D Doubles, Ciaran and Brian Busher narrowly lost out 21-17, 21-19 against Miley and John Connors from Coolgreaney.

In the team event, we had a good opening win against St Joseph's, on a scoreline of 90-73. The team is made up of Bob Byrne, Micheál, Brian and Ciarán Busher.

At our recent AGM the following were elected; Secretary Tony Reid, Chairperson Kevin Cassidy, Treasurer Micheál Busher, Youth Officer Máire Busher, PRO Tony Reid, Coaching Officer Micheál Busher. The other committee members elected were Maria Kielthy, Tush Lawlor, Michael Shannon, Jim Codd, Frank Kos and Cian Cassidy.

Craft Fair

The Bridgetown Crafty Ladies annual Craft Fair is being held on Sunday next, November 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the AOH hall Bridgetown. The fair will raise funds for a worthy charity and this year the ladies will donate the raffle proceeds to the ICU, Wexford hospital. There will be lots of different stalls from which you can purchase craft or other items, so a most worthy cause requesting of your support.

Information Office

The Bridgetown Information and Resource office in the AOH hall Bridgetown, welcomed a new addition to our office staff in the past week, Elaine Keating comes to us from the Tuas organisation under their supervisor Mr John Hatchell of WLD for whom we thank for this appointment. As a result we will have longer opening hours from Monday, November 14, which are as follows - Monday 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday from 10.00 to 11.30 a.m.
