Our Lady's Island
The monthly coffee morning will take place this Thursday, November 24, in the Community Hall from 10.30 to midday. As this is the last one before Christmas expect a few Christmas treats.
Painting of our church is nearing completion and the re-opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 8, with Mass celebrated by Bishop Denis Brennan at 7.30 p.m.
Leo Carthy Weekend
The committee of the Leo Carthy Weekend on Thursday last presented the various local groups and charities with the proceeds of the Leo Carthy weekend held last August to the tune of over €5,000. Scoil Mhuire, Broadway, Paisti Beaga Playschool, OLI. Community Hall, Lady's Island GAA Club, Irish Heart Foundation.
Chairman David Maloney stated how pleased the committee are to be able to support local charities again this year. He thanked the many sponsors and all who supported the event. He wished the various organisations well for the coming year and hoped to be in a position to support them again next year.
u-21 football success
Well done to our under-21 contingent as part of Forth and Bargy Gaels on reaching the county semi-final by defeating Fethard on a scoreline of 1-11 to 10 points on Saturday last. We wish them best of luck when they take on Ballymurn in the county semi-final on Saturday next at 2 p.m. in Ballymurn. Do come along and support the boys.

Congratulations to Caroline Behan, c/o Kevin Newport who won split-the-pot last week receiving €187. Draw will take place in Community Hall after Sunday Mass. All proceeds to Church Restoration Fund. Thanks to all concerned.
The recent meeting of the local ICA had a good attendance of members. The President, Dee Devereux sent get welll wishes to all who are sick in the parish. She thanked all who supported the Hospice coffee morning which raised €325. Kieran Fitzgerald gave a brilliant talk on autumn gardening and answered our many questions.
Our Christmas dinner will be in the Lobster Pot on Thursday, December 15 - non-members are welcome to come along and should please contact Lila on 9131145.
Our next coffee morning is this Thursday, November 24, 10.30 a.m. to midday with a few christmas treats. The raffle was won by Lila and Dee. A lovely tea was served by Mary Hayes and Francesca. The competition was won by Patricia Kehoe and Mary Hayes. Our next meeting will be on December 12.
Seniors Christmas Party
The annual Senior Citizens party will take place on Sunday, December 18, in the Riverbank House Hotel. Bus will commence pick-up at 4.45 p.m.
Keep Wexford Beautiful
Our village received Joint Third Prize in the Best Environmentally Aware and Presented Village category at the Keep Wexford Beautiful Awards ceremony in Ferrycarrig Hotel on Tuesday night last. Congratulations and well done to all involved with this success thanks to Cllr Ger Carthy for arranging the planting of all the containers and to Louise Morris for taking such good care of them.
Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Group will present our sixth annual Village Christmas on Thursday, December 22, in St Patrick's Church from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for Carols, Christmas Music and a modern story of the Nativity by the children. A beautiful adult choir with guest artists George Lawlor and KRH Folk Group.
Our annual Ceremony of Light with the Rosslare Harbour Lifeboat Crew will be held at 7.30 p.m. in the church and then Santa will be arriving to Hotel Rosslare to his special Grotto. Lots of homemade goodies and refreshments. A gift for every child. Come on down and have a cuppa or a glass of Christmas Cheer with your neighbours and family.

Our annual quiz will take place on Monday, December 5, at 8.30 p.m. in the Railway Social Club. Table of four - €20. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
St Paul's AC
Maeve Hayes was competing at the National Schools Indoor Championships in the junior girls category. Maeve finished in a very respectable 11th place with a total of 2785 points. This included 4.63m in the long jump, 10.15 in the 60m hurdles and 8.56m in the shot putt. However Maeve's best performance came in the High jump where a jump of 1.54m was the second highest jump in the event. A great result for Maeve, well done.
Elsewhere Ger Maloney and Rob Stirling were competing for the county at the Leinster Cross country championships. Running in the senior men's and under-11 boy's races, Ger and Rob both managed to finish in the same position, 40th and were both fourth home for their respective county teams. Well done to both athletes.
Men's Shed Fundraiser
Our fundraiser quiz nights have been a great success so far. We held our second night last Wednesday in Hotel Rosslare. Thanks to Mark and Caroline for all their help and to our quiz master Niall McDonnell. The Kilrane Inn is the next venue on Wednesday night, November 23. Thanks to everyone for their support, it is very much appreciated.

Camogie Club AGM
The St Mary's camogie club AGM will take place on Tuesday, November 22, at the clubhouse, Tagoat at 8.30 p.m. At least one parent of the girls or parent of any girls who wish to join are requested to attend. The annual general meeting of the Association will be held on Wednesday, November 23, at 7.30 p.m. in Rosslare National School. A major change is planned for 2017 on how we manage our community and this meeting is your opportunity to express your views on the future of our community.
Christmas Craft Fair
Scoil Mhuire's annual Christmas Craft Fair takes place on December 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an ideal opportunity to start your Christmas Gift shopping please come along and support and have a cup of coffee and a mince pie. Lollitots coffee morning
Lollitots Community Childcare are holding a coffee morning and Book Sale on Sunday, November 27, from 10 a.m. in Lollitots.

The Wexford branch of Down Syndrome Ireland would like to thank most sincerely everyone who gave so generously to their recent church gate collection in Rathnure/Cloughbawn. All money collected will stay in the Wexford branch and will be used to benefit all the children and adults with Down Syndrome, amount collected and banked was €339.83.

Congratulations to Scoil Mhuire on their award which they received at the Wexford County Council Environment award ceremony last week. We are in the process of setting up and developing a Polly tunnel and an allotment.

A big thank you to all who helped in keeping our two estates neat clean and tidy and especially to those who helped in the clearing of the derelict site for the community Garden. The Garden was recognised by Wexford County Council as a great achievement and awarded a prize at the recent Environment awards ceremony. The magnificent plaque may be viewed in the newly repainted Cois Barry House.

Christmas Day Swim
It is hard to believe and I don't want to scare you but there is only six weeks left to Christmas. So it is time to iron the togs and warm up the towel and get ready for the annual baptism in frosty waters that is the Christmas Day Swim. The bucket collection on the day is as always for St Mary's Day-care centre, but it is also a great opportunity for other organisations to raise money.
