The weekly '30' card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday, February 17, at 9 p.m.

The first draw in the Adamstown parents' association split-the-pot draw took place in Adamstown Pharmacy on Monday the sixth Feb, the lucky winner was Bridget Doyle, who won €111, with the parents' association getting the same amount. The next draw will take place on Monday, February 20. Your support will be very much appreciated.
Community Centre AGM
The annual general meeting of Adamstown Community will take place on February 16 at 8 p.m. All clubs and organisations and other interested People, the centre needs the support of all clubs in the parish, please attend this most important meeting.
IHF Mobile Unit
The Irish Heart Foundation Mobile Health Unit will be located at Raheen Family Resource Centre on Friday, February 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be two nurses there on the day and they will be available to provide heart health information and do blood pressure checks.
The one-to-one advice offered by the nurse is a vital part of this check. Each person receives a persona record card with their results and in the event of any abnormal results the advised to follow up with their GP.
High blood pressure which is a major cause of stroke and heart attack is one of the most prevalent risk factors in the population and one which once identified is very manageable, thereby reducing the risk. A blood pressure check is a simple quick and non-invasive test that could prove life-saving. All are welcome to come along on the day to avail of this free service.
Athletic Club Notes
The Athletic Club recently held their AGM at the Community Centre on Tuesday, January 31. The following people have been elected for the year 2017. The chairperson is Edel English, Assistant chairperson - Eamonn Crean, secretary - Deirdre Crean, Assistant secretary - Edel Crean, treasurer - Ann Jackman, PRO and Club Registrar - Susan O'Shea and Competitions secretary - Marie Mooney and Susan O'Shea, Female Child Protection Officer - Edel Crean and Male Child Protection Officer - Gerry Mac Gabhann.
Jimmy O'Shea and Séamus Bradley were made Lifetime members of the club and given Lifetime Membership of the club for their years of dedication and involvement in Adamstown Athletic club. Thank you to all the committee members and to all those who attended the AGM.
Well done to Joe Mooney and Ryan Carthy Walsh, who represented the club at the junior all-Ireland Indoors in Athlone on Sunday, January 29. Ryan and Joe won their first medals of the 2017 season with Ryan winning a gold medal in the Junior Men's High Jump and Joe winning a silver medal in the Junior Walk. Great performances by both athletes to start off 2017.
Congratulations to all the athletes that were awarded medals at the Wexford Athletics awards night 2017 in Enniscorthy on Friday, February 3. Best of luck to all the athletes taking part in the B all-Ireland Cross Country, Inter-varsities and Day 1 and two of the Leinster Indoors in Athlone at the weekend.
Training has resumed and the training schedule is as follows: Monday and Wednesday nights for sixth class children and up in the hall at 7.30 p.m., Thursday nights 6: 30-7: 15 in the hall for children in second, third and fourth class, 7: 30-8: 15 for children in fifth and sixth class and all the older athletes will train from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There will be a meeting for Adamstown Community Games on Tuesday, February 14, at 7 p.m. at the Community Centre Adamstown. Parents of children aged under-six to under-16 are encouraged to come to this meeting to keep Community Games going in the Adamstown area.
St Anthony's Mass continues every Tuesday night at 7.30 p.m. in St Abban's Oratory. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Mon-Fri each week night. Prayer group meet up every Sunday night from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and all welcome

We have organised two walk/run community days (no charge) in Crossabeg and Ballymurn over the next few weeks. The next one will take place on Sunday, February 19, at midday in Ballymurn - walk/run around the block from the village, out the Screen road past the shop/petrol station and keeping left back to the village hall. We will have our last night of recording distances on Tuesday, February 21, and have a final night of getting your results on Tuesday, February 28.

Adult Membership fees for 2017: €120 for players, €60 for students and €50 for non-playing members, due now. Underage registration takes place on Saturday the 18th between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the forge, Crossabeg.
Afternoon Tea - The club will have a fundraiser on Saturday the 18th with afternoon tea from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m. in the Forge Crossabeg. Please support.
Penny bank collections continue every Saturday and Sunday in the hall after masses.
Bingo continues every Monday night in the Anvil, Ballymurn at 9 p.m.
Camogie club news
The camogie club will hold some Féile Fundraisers over the coming weeks. There will be a clothes collection in Ballymurn on Wednesday, February 15, from 9.10 a.m. across from the hall (school side). Anyone, who would like to donate clothes in Oylegate can drop them into Eamon Mernagh any time. All donations greatly appreciated. Contact Christine 086 8929087 for more info.
We will also host a breakfast day on Saturday, March 18, in the Community Centre in Oylegate to raise money for Féile.
Camogie and Hurling Club Joint Fundraiser: We will host a 10k and 5k timed run/walk on Sunday, March 5, at 10.30 a.m. starting from Oylegate Pitch. Registration for the 10k can be found on runireland.com. Registration for the 5k will be taken on the day. You can also register for the 10k on the day.
The next Over the Water Vintage run will take place on Sunday, March 9, starting in Ballymurn at 12.30 p.m. in aid of Ballymurn Hall.
Due to good interest in quiz, Handwriting and art local trials will be held in each event. Under-14 Quiz Trials will take place in Bree Hall on this Tuesday the 14th at 8.30 p.m. The under-8 to under-16 Art Trials and Handwriting Trials under-10 and under-12 will take place in Bree Hall from 10 a.m. to midday on Saturday next, February 18.
All participants must be under an age on August 1, eg under-8s may not have reached their eighth birthday before that date. All participants must be resident in the Parishes of Bree, Davidstown or Cloughbawn. Well done to the under-13 Chess Team of Odhran Kehoe, Bill Quigley, Katie Doyle, Nathan Doyle, Cathal Ennis, Conn Frazer and Riona Kehoe, who took part in the under-13 Community Games Co Chess Finals on Thursday evening last in Glynn. The team performed well but was not among the medal winners. The under-16 team of Odin Doyle, Cormac Kehoe, Michael Humphrey, Nicholas Howe and Tom Quigley had no opposition and therefore qualify for the inter county rounds. Best wishes to the four local Draughts teams competing in the Co Finals on this Saturday evening in Bree Hall.
There is a 'Lock and Key Night' in Byrne's of Bree on Saturday next, February 18, at 9.30 p.m. Admission is €5 with music by 'Wrecking Ball'. An enjoyable way to spend Valentine's weekend. All proceeds are in aid of Wexford Academy of Irish Dance.

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on Sunday, May 28.
GAA Triple Crown
The final event of the Ballyhogue GAA Club Triple Crown is the Bog Run which takes place on Sunday, February 19, at midday.

Bree AC news
Days 1 and two of the Leinster Indoor Championships took place in Athlone IT last weekend with success for Bree AC athletes. Aoife Cloke Rochford (under-19) who won three gold medals, 60m, 60mHurdles and 200m. Gracie Kehoe (under-12) won gold in the High Jump with a Leinster Record of 136cm beating the previous record by 7cm. She also won silver in the 60mHurdles and a bronze medal in the 60m. Abbie Doyle (under-12) won gold medals in both the 60m and the 60mHurdles. Seán Rowley (under-13) won gold in the 60mHurdles and silver in the 60m. Darra Casey (under-15) won gold in the 60m Hurdles and Conor Doyle (under-14) won silver in the 800m. Also in action were Olivia Howe fourth in the under-18 60m, Oran French fifth in under-17 60m, Oisin Rochford fifth in the (12) 60m Hurdles and Shane Doran fifth in the (under-13) 60m.
Oscar Redmond competed in the National B Cross Country at Waterford IT where he finished in 54th place out of 103 finishers and was the fourth Wexford athlete across the line. Well done to all involved. Next outing for the club will be the Leinster Indoor Relays and junior, senior and Masters Indoors in Abbottstown, Dublin on the 25th and February 26.
SN Seosamh Naofa, Bree are now accepting enrolments for September 2017. Enrolment packs can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 247725) for a pack to be posted out. Please return the completed enrolment forms by March 1.
Bree Youth Club
Envelopes for Bree Youth Club's split-the-pot fundraiser are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw takes place on the first Saturday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club.
The next Active Retirement Social Afternoon will be held on this Wednesday afternoon, February 15. A committee meeting will be held at 1.30 p.m. followed by the social at 2 p.m. The membership fee for the year is €10 and this will be due at the meeting/social on the 15th.
The County League Bowls Competition is in full swing at the moment with bowling practice continuing every other Wednesday of the month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thinking of joining, all are most welcome. For more information contact 086 0747823.
