Sad Passing

Another tragic death took place in the parish of Bannow John Moran died suddenly last Saturday, April 15, John was 48 years of age and sadly leaves his wife Grainne daughter Megan and son Robert. His remains were brought to Carrig church on Tuesday for 11 a.m. mass and he was buried in the family plot in Bannow cemetery. Large crowds came to pay their final respects to John may he rest in peace.

Walking Club

What a great time of year to get active. Why not join us for a walk get some fresh air and meet new people. We are meeting daily Monday to Friday 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the entrance of the GAA pitch on the drive way.

Death

Deepest sympathy to Steven and Martin Carthy and families on the death of their mother Maggie Carthy née Keane at her home last Wednesday.

Maggie was in her 89th year and her remains were brought from Ryan's funeral parlour to Ballycullane church on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Burial took place In adjoining cemetery after 11 a.m. mass on Friday. May she rest in peace.

GAA club notes

Lotto numbers from last week's draw were 1, 4, 12 and 26. Two match-three winners. Next jackpot will be €9,500.

Well done to the under-16 girls, who had a great win over Kilarein in Grantstown. Final score b/b 5-08 Kilarein 3points. Well done, girls.

Congratulations to Chris Cummins, who was the worthy recipient of the New Ross District Awards in the Horse and Hound on Saturday last. We hope you enjoyed your night Chris and Thank you for all your help with the running of the complex and the club.

Corach Notes

This week's split-the-pot winner is Breda Walsh Carrig, who picks up a fantastic €644. well done Breda. Thanks a million to all the local businesses who look after our buckets and thanks again to everyone for your continued support.

The A-team were at home to premier side Moyne in the Wexford cup quarter final but went down to a 2-1 defeat. Best of luck to Moyne in the semifinals and now it is on to Wednesday evening for us when we play our final home game against St Cormac's at 6.30 p.m., as we try to get another three points in our quest for the title.

Sewing Classes

Sewing classes are ongoing in Ballymitty hall every Thursday night from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Do you have a sewing machine that you would love to learn how to use? Learn the basics and try your hand at making your own creations. Children and beginners welcome. To book contact Mary Quirke 086 8432125. Social dancing

Dust off your dancing shoes and join us in St Mary's Hall, Fethard-on-Sea for our new social dance nights. Kicking off our first dance on Friday, May 12, the brilliant 'Moynihan Brothers 'Dancing from 9.30 p.m. Admission €8 with complimentary refreshments. Carne FC

Carne FC played their last match on Sunday in a promotion play-off against Crossabeg. Unfortunately luck wasn't with us on the day but we would like to thank everyone who came out to support us on the day and those who supported us throughout the season.

Change of time: The table quiz in aid of the group will now take place on Thursday, April 27, at 8 p.m. in the Railway Social Club, €20 per table of four.

A WEEE (Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment) cage only for small Household electrical goods such as toasters, kettles, electric drills and a container for the recycling of fluorescent tubes is situated at the back of the Railway Social Club. It is open on Saturday Mornings between 10.00 and 11.30 a.m., weather permitting.

Annual Sea Shanty

Rosslare Maritime Enthusiasts are delighted to announce that their annual Sea Shanty fundraising event in aid of the Rosslare Harbour Maritime Heritage Centre will take place on Saturday, April 29, at 8 p.m. in Hotel Rosslare, Rosslare Harbour.

A great line up of artists, both national and international, will include, Hooks and Crookes and Tom Mullane from Waterford, South End Sea Shanty Singers and Shane Dunphy from Wexford and the Vagrants Crew from Pembrokeshire. A great night of musical entertainment is promised. Tickets €5 per adult, children free.

St Paul's AC

It was a busy weekend for our athletes with our annual Easter Road Race, St Senan's Open Track and field day and Rosslare 10km. The rain just about stayed away on Sunday for our road race which was back at its original venue this year, the Railway Social Club. Boys - under-6 first Ailbe Van Der Bliake, under-8joint first Tadgh Wright and Caolan Kelly, under-10 first Artem Kelly, under-12 first Jacob Sumec and under-17 first Manus Harte

Girls under-8 first Megdez Harte, second Caoilfhionn Van Der Bliake, third Jessie Stafford, under-10 first Lucia Donohue, second Hannah Kelly and third Sophie Whitehead.

Under-13 first Bonnie Murphy.

Senior Men first Sammy Delaney 16.27, second Johnny Kelly 17.02 and third Séamus O'Brien 17.06.

Gergley Pap, Maeve Hayes, Emma Carr and Bonnie Murphy travelled to Kilmacow for St Senan's Open Sport. Gergley was second in the under-16 Shot and Maeve was first in the under-16 Long Jump. Emma also competed in the under-16 Long Jump. This was an age group up for Emma. Maeve, Emma and Bonnie also took to the track for the 100m sprints and Bonnie also competed in the under-13 High Jump.

Ger Maloney was St Paul's first athlete home in the Rosslare 10km and was also 10th overall in a time of 37.34. Next home for St Paul's was Johnny Kelly 45.59 followed closely by Yvonne Clooney 48.59, Gail Martin 49.40 and Sammy Delaney 1: 07: 49.

Just a reminder to all our athletes and parents that the County Wexford Track and Field Championships are held over two weekends Sunday and Sunday, May 7 and 14, starting at 11 a.m. up at the track in Enniscorthy.

Bereavements.

We extend sympathy to Kathleen Sinnott and family, St Brendan's Estate, Rosslare Harbour on the death of her mother May Murphy (née O'Sullivan) Littlecullenstown, Foulksmills, who sadly passed away on March 14 May's funeral Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Littlecullenstown with burial afterwards in Clongeen Cemetery. May was also sister-in-law to Eileen Morris, Church Farm and Peter Carr, Kilrane.

Condolences also to Paddy Lonergan and family, Kilrane, on the very sudden and untimely passing of his nephew Billy Lonergan in Boston. May they Rest in Peace.

RNLI news

MayDay Collections: Our annual MayDay fundraising collection will take place on Saturday, April 29, in various locations throughout the locality. Your support and generosity would be greatly appreciated on the day.

Coastal Walk: Rosslare Harbour RNLI will hold their 16km Coastal Walk/Run from Rosslare Harbour to Carne and back (shorter distances optional) on Saturday, May 20, at 3 p.m. The starting and finishing point will be the car park at Rosslare Harbour beach. Ballycogley Players

The curtain came down on this year's festival play in the Dun Mhuire, Wexford. Yet again, our loyal supporters were in attendance to give Delaney's Travelling Roadshow the send off it deserved.

A special word of thanks to the author of 'Lay Me Down Softly', Wexford's Billy Roche for allowing us to put action to his words. We hope we did you proud Billy.

The Players will take a well-earned break now but don't worry we'll be back on stage up to our usual antics very soon.

In conjunction with Wexford County Council we are offering a four-week course one hour every Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in Cois Barry House, starting on April 27. Relaxation Classes - We all need to relax and have a stress detox this is good for body and mind so why not join us every Tuesday morning 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. Five Euro per session. If you wish please bring your own blanket.

Spinning Classes - Probably the most fun while getting fit that you can have on a bike Tuesday morning 9.45 and 6.30 p.m. that evening also Thursday 9.45 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. come along and join in we promise no pot holes.
