Adamstown

Cards

The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 26th will be Breda Kelly, Valerie Kelly, Christine Mackey, Ann O'Brien and Eileen Moran. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Community Games

The Adamstown Area for the Community Games will be holding races on Thursday, May 25, at 6.30 p.m. at the Community Centre. This is for anyone interested in competing in the Community Games Athletics County Final in Enniscorthy. Children under-8 (age six or over on or before July 31) to under-16 can take part.

You don't have to be a member of the Athletic Club to take part in the Community Games. There will be an entry fee of €1 payable on the evening.

Athletic Club News

Day 2 of the County T&F Championships was held at the Sportshub Enniscorthy on Sunday May 14. We had many great performances in a wide range of events. Well done to our athletes who competed on both days. Results from days one and two have not been published and therefore these results will follow next week.

Well done to Aoibhinn Crean, Rachel Power, Cormac Byrne, Tara Doyle and Kate Jackman as they all competed at Day 1 of the Leinster Shcools T&F in Santry on Wednesday May 17. Aoibhinn was 5th in the Junior Girls Walk, Rachel 4th in the Triple Jump and Cormac 5th in the Junior Boys Javelin.

First Holy Communion

On Saturday, May 13, second class of Scoil Naomh Abbain celebrated their First Holy Communion with family and friends.

The 21 children that received communion were: Emma Carty, Paddy Connors, Áine Crean, Luke Cullen, Shona Duggan, Sinéad Duffy, James Furlong, Nicole Komsa, Callum Martin, Thomas Mooney, Alex Moran, Bobby McDonald, Daniel Murphy, Eva O'Gorman, Maeve O'Gorman, Katelyn O'Shea, Riain O'Shea, Myia Siggins, Cathal Staunton, Amelia Swierczynska and Millie Thorpe.

After the ceremony the children presented their teachers Ms Rea and Mrs Tierney with a bouquet of flowers. Fr Nolan thanked the members of the school choir under the guidance of Ms Caroline Delaney for their lovely performance and Cait and Ellie received a mention for all their hard work behind the scenes.

Galbally Tractor Run

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally Parish Funds will take place on this Sunday, May 28, Bree Macra News.

The next outing for the club is the county dinner dance taking place on this Friday, May 27, in the Horse and Hound. Tickets are priced at €30 and there is limited availability remaining. Galbally Defibrillator

Fundraising is ongoing and at present we are just over the halfway mark of our target of €2,000, collection points are in the church, school and Ryan's bar, Thank you for your support.

Sports and Leisure Club

Bree Youth Club

The AGM of Bree Youth Club will take place on Tuesday, May 30, at 7.30 p.m. in Bree Community Centre. Parents of all club members are asked to attend.

Juniors will travel to Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon on Saturday, May 27, for a day of adventure and activities. Seniors will spend the weekend of July 14 to July 17 in Wales.

Community Games

Hard luck to the boys under-12 soccer team, who came up against a very good Castlebridge team in their county semifinal recently. Team members were Ben Asple, Lee Broaders, Dylan Carr, Mark Dawson, Tadhg Doyle, Harry Helps, Odhran Kehoe, Darragh Kirwan, Zak Levingstone, Travis McCauley, Harvey Montague, Cillian Murphy, Oscar Redmond, Conor Rochford, Sam Twomey and Tiernan Walsh. Mentors were Jason Broaders and James Murphy.

Well done to the Galbally NS sketch of Tadhg Doyle, Hazel Murphy, Casey Cullen, Seán Vaughan and Garry Laffan which won the Co under-12 Final. Niamh Fenlon was third in the under-12 Solo Music and Michael Roche was third in the under-16 Solo Music. Also taking part in Solo Singing under-12 were Orla Cunnea and Abigail Buckley.

Well done to the boys under-10 Football team who put up a great performance against Cushinstown Community Games on Sunday last to win county silver medals. The team was Bill Blyth, James Breen, Laurance Cloke, Nathan Doyle, Tom Dunne, Ben Kavanagh, Charlie Kehoe, James Killeen, Darragh Kirwan, Cillian Murphy, Eoin O'Farrell, Darragh O'Regan, Conor Rochford, Ollie Treacy, Seán Vaughan and Tiernan Walsh. Mentors were Séamus Killeen and James Breen.

Well done also to all who took part in the local Community Games athletics finals recently. The County Final takes place on June 25 in the Hub, Enniscorthy.

Bree AC News

Four teams represented Bree AC in the Leinster Relays Championships last weekend and all four returned with medals. It was gold for the girls under-10, under-12, boys under-13 and bronze for the girls under-11.

Teams were: under-10 - Keira Wilson, Chloe Casey, Maura Doyle, Ciara Laffan, Lea Bolger; under-11 Joanne Chapman, Katie Doyle, Keira Wilson, Chloe Casey, Maura Doyle, Ciara Laffan; under-12 - Abbie Doyle, Gracie Kehoe, Amelia Furlong, Joanne Chapman, Katie Doyle; under-13 - Robbie Chapman, Shane Doran, Seán Rowley, Oisin Rochford, Ryan Whelan. Well done to all involved.

Colleen's Album Launch

Local girl Colleen Coughlan launched her first album entitled 'I Surrender' on last Saturday night, May 20, in Fusion Cafe and Restaurant, Wexford. She performed songs from her Album, Originals and Covers. Colleen is wished every success with her Album launch and for her future career.

Recycle Units

If the recycle units at the front of the Community Centre are full please do not leave bags, boxes of bottles on the ground in front of the units as they end up becoming a litter problem and also a hazard with broken glass. Please do not bring household refuse or any other type of rubbish up to the units as it will not be taken away. The recycling units are a great benefit for the whole community.

Cygnets/Brigins

The Cygnets had great fun last Saturday on their teddy bears picnic day. Due to bad weather the girls had plan B and moved the day indoors. Nothing stops Clonard Cygnets having fun. The Brigins are off to Mellory scout centre in cappaquinn this weekend for their yearly camp. They will be wet and mucky even if the sun does shine.

Clonard GAA

Congratulations to Eamon Martin on winning €227 in this week's split-the-pot draw, seller was Stephen Miller. We are doing a fundraiser for our under-14 boys Féile weekend we would really appreciate if you are a doing clear out of any clothes, shoes, bedclothes, etc., please bring them to pitch any Tuesday night at underage training between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. (for the next six weeks).

Ladies GAA

ClonardVolunteer under-10 and under-12 girls played two brilliant games on Thursday and Saturday, first up the under-10 girls travelled out to play their neighbours the Sarsfields where they played a very fun filled game in the sun, both teams were encouraged by ref Mag Doherty, well done to both teams.

On Saturday morning the under-12 green team travelled away to Fethard, another action packed game as both teams were equally matched, ClonardVols held the lead for three quarters of the game but were narrowly beaten from the last kick of the game by 0-2. Well done to all these young teams.

Games for the coming week are as follows: Junior B away tonight Tuesday at 7 p.m. v Cushinstown; under-12 pink team play away to Bunclody on Wednesday at 7 p.m.; Saturday under-14 pink team away to Bunclody at 11.30 a.m.; under-14 green team away to shamrocks Saturday at 6.30 p.m. Best of luck to all teams, please come out and show your support for all teams.

New club gear is now being ordered, all orders can be given at training on Wendesday. BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will take place in Glynn NS from Friday, May 19, till Friday, May 26. This sale of children's books will be open to parents and to the general public everyday from 3 p.m. It will also be open on Saturday the 20th at 8.30 p.m. and on Sunday the 21st at 11 a.m. We look forward to seeing you there.

TENNIS

Following the success of their second introduction to tennis night, Glynn-Barntown Tennis Club is holding a rules/position on court etc information night on the courts on Wednesday, May 24, at 7 p.m.

Also there are a couple of new members who are complete beginners and are looking for another few to form a group. If anyone is interested come along on the 24th, or if you know of anyone pass the word.

CHURCH NEWS

This weekend, local accountant and parishioner James White, will present 2015/2016 accounts at all masses in Barntown. Accounts are annually filed with the diocese. Accounts and properties of the parish and are required to be kept in line with the requirements of the Charity Act 2009. Gratitude is extended to James.

CHRISTENINGS

Congratulations to the Donegan family from Barntown on the recent christening of twins Florence Jean and Max Anthony. Congratulations also to the Buckely family who recently had baby Seán Xavier christened in Barntown.
