School Leagues

'Schools Out For summer' and that means all the finals have been decided in the school lunchtime leagues also.

Last Friday saw our three finals take place with Waterford beating Tipperary in the Seán Pettit Shield in our opening game. Next up was certainly the game of the day in the Paul Kehoe Shield where Kilkenny caught and passed Dublin in the dying minutes, of which there were many thanks to a very lenient and encouraging referee I must add (Thanks Jack..). The David Meyler Cup was fought out by Galway and Wexford, with the result ending in a Wexford win.

Overall we had a fantastic tournament, with all children from third to sixth classes being involved along the way. A few special words of thank you for the teachers and principal of the school for their help and encouragement in running off the games. To Kevin Kehoe from the club who attended the school every week for coaching sessions and being so instrumental in running the competition. To the Pettit, Kehoe and Meyler families for the generous support and sponsorship towards this now annual event.

To our referees on the day, Wexford camogie star Sarah O'Connor, Official Wexford GAA star Jack O'Connor and former pupil and a member of last year's county minor team Quinn Saunders. We would also like to thank our umpires for the day, Cillian Devereux and Jess Codd at one end and another pair to don the Wexford Colours over the last few years Cathal Devereux and Robert Cloney, all of whom have past through the school over the years.

To Wexford star Willie Devereux for the presentation of prizes to all the kids. To the parents come mentors of each team, without your help the day and previous rounds could not have happened and also our photographer for day David Codd. Finally to out neighbouring clubs who generously gave us the use of their jerseys on the day, namely St Mary's Rosslare, St Martin's, Shelmaliers, St Anne's and Faythe Harriers. Until next term, enjoy the summer.

Rosslare Tidy Towns

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 5, at 10.30 a.m. at Cois Barry House.

Two reasons why we are now asking for your help and co-operation, firstly Adjudication in the National Tidy Towns Competition is under way, secondly we are anxious to have Rosslare look its best for the Holiday Season and thereafter.

Now you can help by having a look at your own property/patch and making sure it is free of weeds, free of litter, and looking its best.

If we can help you with any concerns or problems Please do not hesitate to contact any of our volunteers. Our Volunteer Force is really doing some great work, not just for the competition but work that will permanently enhance the Village, we are encouraged with the very positive response from many people and we will certainly continue with our efforts.

Volunteering is the best possible way to show concern and interest in your community as well as being an enjoyable and fulfilling exercise. You do not have to be involved in Meetings, talking shops etc just be prepared to enjoy the experience of doing something pleasant and practical for Rosslare.

Work can be undertaken on any day at any time, so think about it and become a true volunteer for Tidy Towns and for your Village.
