Walkathon

St Anne's Rathangan GAA Club are delighted to make you aware of our upcoming fundraising Walkathon, including a 24-hour walk, community auction and an evening of entertainment on the August Bank Holiday weekend. This fundraiser aims to fund the development of a new ball alley and hurling wall for the club.

To coincide with this, we are undertaking our very own 'Dawn Walking Challenge' to highlight mental health awareness and specifically support our local mental health awareness group 'Ask.

Every GAA Club in Wexford is invited to send a minimum of one representative (or as many as you wish) in your club colours, to walk for one hour with us in the 'Dawn Walking Challenge' between 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, August 6 (Refreshments provided).

All proceeds raised during the Dawn Walk will go directly towards ASK to enable them to continue their tremendous work in the area of mental health awareness. The impact of 50 clubs across Wexford uniting together will send a very positive signal of their support to the wider community that we are now ready to tackle the issue of mental health head on.

Bereavement

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Jack Pettit Rathmore Broadway, who sadly died during the past week. Jack was a great all round sportsman and will be sadly missed by all those in sport, his family and many friends. May he rest in peace.

St Fintan's

The junior hurling championship game versus Cloughbawn and the minor hurling game versus Gusserane were both called off during the early part of last week due to the sad passing off Jack Pettit RIP and will be rearranged at a later date.

The Permanent TSB junior A hurling championship game versus Glynn-Barntown was played in Killurin on Saturday evening last and as a gesture of support the home team offered light refreshments to all following the game a gesture the St Fintan's club appreciated very much.

Signage

Some of the new signage has been recently erected at Clubgrounds in Ballymore. More signs due to go up in the near future and some advertising spaces are still available for further information just ask any member of the club committee or make contact with club secretary Sharon Pettit. Many thanks to all the local businesses who have taken a space to date and remember to please support these local businesses.

Ladies Underage

Well done to the St Fintan's under-16 team on its convincing win over Naomh Eanna in Ballymore, the girls started well and kept up the pressure all the way through the game with a great team performance, a big thanks to all the under-14s that played especially Sophie Power for doing such a great job in goal, final score St Fintan's 2-14, Naomh Eanna 0-3.

The under-14 team played host to Blackwater in div2 Shield semi - final. With some players playing in new positions St Fintan's started slowly and allowed Blackwater to establish a commanding lead by half time. The girls regrouped at half time and went out and played the second half with greater determination and delivered some great scores. Unfortunately they were unable to claw back the deficit.

We would like to thank all the players who made the effort to attend training during the season. To all mentors, Ger and Martin for their work and advice, and Nicky, who always gave a hand when called upon. Kellyann or Una were always available for dressing room duties. A thank you to St Fintan's Ladies committee for their assistance, and not forgetting Sharon for making the pitch available for matches.
