ICA News

36 ladies left Adamstown on Wednesday, July 19, on our annual trip. Our first stop was Castletown House where we got our breakfast and then the tour of the house. We left there and went to Newbridge Silverware and Whitewater shopping centre for a bit of retail therapy. We were back at 7 p.m. to the Lord Bagneal Inn Leighlinbridge Carlow for our four course evening meal. A lovely day was had by all.

Athletic Club Notes

Huge congratulations to Joe Mooney and Ryan Carthy Walsh as they both won gold medals in the National Senior T&F Championships in Santry last weekend. Joe Mooney went on to win the Senior Men's 10K Walk in a time of 53.12.69. Ryan Carthy Walsh won the the Senior Men's High Jump with a jump of 2.11m. Adamstown A.C. was the only Wexford athletic club to strike gold at the National Senior event so well done boys and their coaches on such a great achievement.

Well done to Marguerite Furlong as she has been selected to represent her country at the Celtic International Games in Santry on August 5th. Marguerite has been selected to compete in the Discus. Well done Marguerite and best of luck at the Games.

Sympathy

Our condolences to Kathleen O'Connor (and Tommy), Misterin on the sad passing of her grandnephew Dr Michael Ryan, who died recently in San Diego, California USA, after a short illness, aged 22 years. May he rest in peace.

Church Notes

St Anthony's Mass and Novena Prayers will take a break for August and will resume in September. Visitation of the sick Friday and Saturday. Mass for the first Saturday of August 9.30 a.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Monday to Friday each week night. Prayer group meet up every Sunday night from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and all welcome.

Church Altars and Decorations - Thanks to the ladies from Coonogue for looking after the church and Altars for the month of July, it is now the turn of parishioners from Tomgarrow for the month of August.

Mass Rock at Carrigbyrne - Mass will be celebrated at the Mass Rock in Rock Lane Raheenacloonagh at the butt of the Carrigbyrne Rock on Sunday, August 6, at 7 p.m.

CASTLE VINTAGE CLUB

The Castle Vintage Club barbecue and Bike Run will take place at Rochford's Camross on Saturday, August 12, starting with the Bike Run at 3 p.m. followed by barbecue and music by Freeway at 9.30 p.m. All proceeds in aid of local charities. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Jacky Carthy, who came second in the European Cross Country masters winning the O45 category.

Congratulations to four juvenile athletes who competed at the county championships in Enniscorthy. The 3000m was the only juvenile event on the programme. Results: under-17 girls: Regina Rochford fourth. under-17 boys: Sam Molyneux second, Rory Cassidy third. under-17 boys: Sam Boxwell first

Congratulations to senior medal winners also: Fidelma Rossiter - Bronze 800m Fiona Kehoe - Gold 1500m Fidelma Rossiter - Bronze 1500m Sinéad O'Brien - Gold 3000m Well done to Adrian Reville, who also took part.

RNLI Lifeboat Day

RNLI Lifeboat Day is on Sunday, August 6, at 2 p.m. Some of the attractions: Tour RNLB Killarney, book stall, bottle stall, crab fishing, white elephant and plenty more stalls. Duck racing, Stormy Stan. The famous Kelly Lou Cakes from Portlaoise as seen on TV3's Ireland Am and the Kilmore Quay Yacht Club annual race followed by auction that evening (venue to be confirmed); Bingo in the Stella Maris Centre at 8 p.m. Also controlled parking will be in operation on the day.

maritime history

A maritime history of county Wexford through photographs from the John Power collection will take place in the Stella Maris Centre Kilmore Quay. It will be officially opened by the recently elected mayor of Wexford, councillor Jim Moore on Friday, August 4, at 8 p.m. and run through the weekend. All donations in aid of Kilmore Quay RNLI.

Garden open day

Paula Hore, Mount Eaton, Tomhaggard will have a garden open day on Sunday, August 6, from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m. in aid of Tomhaggard Church Funds. All are welcome to come along for this worthy cause and to see all the lovely garden.

Sympathy

Sincere sympathy to the Sinnott family on the death of Martin Sinnott from Ferrybank and formerly from Kilmore and also sympathy to the Wall family on the death of Betty Wall, Longridge, Bridgetown.

REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCOUTING YEAR - This will be held at 7.30 p.m. on August 31, in the Scout and Guide Hall. Registration cost is €45 per boy payable to our National Office Dublin includes insurance cover for each person. Advising all parents wishing to register in any of the sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers to come along on this night. Once maximum ratio number in each section is reached, a waiting list will be established, so to ensure you child can join come along on this evening please.

FUND RAISING EVENT - The group have organised a fundraising event on September 7/8/9. We are selling lines in local Supermarket and need parents and leaders to cover times from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on the three days please. Please contact group secretary Ann Rochford 087 6677411 with any times you have available to cover on any day and the Cover List can be updated. Ann will have the list also on the registration night to collect names. this can be a big fundraising event but all hours need to be manned at the entrance for times above. thank you all for your support and co-operation.

Cubs and Scouts will re-open on Tuesday, September 5, and Beavers on Thursday, September 7. Weekly subscriptions for running of the group is €3 per week per person

The August dance will be held in Camross Ballroom on Friday, August 4, with music by Brendan and Patricia Lee. Dancing from 10 p.m. to midnight, admission is €8 including the tea.
