Cards - The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the Community Centre this Friday 16th October at 9pm. Thanks to the ladies for the teas last week. Catering on Fri 16th will be Bernie Hickey, Evelyn O'Gorman & Ann O'Gorman. Catering on Friday 23d will be Bridget O'Gorman, Ann Stafford, Kay Whelan and Agnes Whelan. Proceeds going to Parish Funds.

Adamstown Lotto

The winning numbers at the recent draw were: 12,14,17 and 21. There was no Jackpot winner so the Jackpot now becomes €13,600. There were three match three winners; Tom Foley, Brownstown, Ann Furlong, Grallagh and Jimmy Walsh, St Mullins. The next draw is on Monday 19th October in Brad Ogs. Please support your local lotto.

ICA News

Please note our meeting scheduled for Wednesday 15th October has been changed to Thursday 16th at 8pm. There will be a guest speaker on the night.

The knitting and crochet classes commenced on Monday last. There was a good attendance on the night. There were still some places available if anyone would like to join you would be most welcome.

Plans are in place of our upcoming sponsored walk to take place on Sun Nov 1st. Details of route and times to follow. We would like to see as many of the community as possible take part in the walk. Catering on the night are Anne Stafford and Cait Bradley. New members are always most welcome, if you would like to join please come along to our meeting on Thursday night.

Adamstown A.C.

There was a great turn out on Sunday 4th October for the County Novice and Even Age Cross Country which was held in Adamstown. Adamstown Athletic Club was well represented with some great performances on the day.

The first race of the day was the Novice Women's race with Elaine McDonald representing Adamstown A.C. The Juvenile races started with the U10 Girls race in which Caragh McDonald stormed into 2nd place followed closely by Grainne English in 3rd place, followed by Sadbh Crean and Laura O'Gorman.

The next race was the U10 Boys race in which Ross English finished best in 5th place followed closely by club mates Watt Crean, Jack O'Shea and Bobby McDonald. The first Championship race was the U12 Girls 2000m. Four athletes representing Adamstown ran a great race in which Niamh English finished in 7th place, followed by Katie English in 9th place and then Isabelle English and Ciara Mooney.

The U12 Boys 2000m finished with the Ben and Robert Wall sprinting into 2nd and 3rd position. Respectively, this race also featuring Donny McDonald and Darragh Furlong. The U12 Boys team managed to earn 2nd place in the team event for their great performances!

The U14 Girls 3000m race featured three of our athletes with Kate Jackman finishing in 6th place followed by Aoibhinn Crean and Ella English. In the U14 Boys race Craig Wall and Oisin MacGabhann ran a great race and finished close together.

In the U16 Girls 4000m race four athletes had great performances with Mairead Crean finishing 4th, Triona Mooney 5th, followed by Sonia Mooney and Grace Cloney. Annalise Crean was a dominant leader throughout the U18 Girls race winning a gold medal. Joe Mooney finished in 3rd place in the U18 Boys 6000m race.

We would like to thank Tom & Angela Furlong, Tom & Lou Furlong, Tom & Gertie Mooney and John & Caroline Mooney for the use of their lands to host this event. We would also like to thank all the people who parked cars or worked in the shop on the day. A special word of thanks to all our dedicated athletes representing our club with pride.

Tomi Reichental

Raheen Family Resource Centre are honoured to be hosting Tomi Reichental, a child survivor of the Holocaust who gives lectures to thousands of people every year. He is the recipient of the 2014 RTE International Person of the Year Award in Ireland in recognition of his work in Holocaust education.

The event will take place in Raheen Community Hall on Wednesday 14th October at 7pm. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend what promises to be a very interesting and inspirational talk. Mouse Race

A live mice race and grand national will be held in Cullens Lounge on Saturday 17th October. Buy a mouse from any of the Junior Hurling Team or on the night for €10. All mice owners are entered into a draw for 2 Executive Old Trafford Tickets. The top 10 mice will compete in the Grand National for a cash prize. Bets can be placed on each race. A great night's entertainment is promised and a great laugh will be guaranteed.

Glynn/Barntown

BREAST CANCER coffee

A Coffee morning in memory of the late Carmel Hayes from Ballygoman, Barntown will be held in Taghmon Action Group office on Friday 23rd October from 10am-1pm. Should anyone be interested in Donating a prize for our Raffle, doing a spot of baking, or wish to buy a raffle ticket please let us know. Even to simply just turn up on the day would mean a lot.

WATER POLO

There are free taster sessions of running in October for boys and girls, who must be able to swim, to try their hand at Water Polo. It runs in the Wexford pool on Friday evenings. Anyone interested should contact Maria Reck for more details on 086 103 4867.

CAMOGIE

Our U12 girls wound down their season with an enjoyable evening at the Apex followed by party food in the clubhouse. The club would like to congratulate the girls and parents on a fun and successful year and to thank Georgina and her crew for all of their hard work.

Our Senior camogie ladies had a 1-13 to 0-03 victory over Ferns on Saturday in St. Patricks Park in the Senior B semi final to see them through to the final v Buffers Alley in Bellefield next Saturday October 17th at 2pm. Please support the girls in this final important game for the club.

COISTE NA NOG

There was a great start for Waterford & Galway in 8/9's Londis Winter Hurling League with Waterford beating Kilkenny and Galway defeating Tipperary. The action continues next Sunday morning.

Hard luck to coach Barry Goff and his team Faythe Harriers on their Senior hurling semi final defeat on Sunday afternoon.

Our Minor Co Premier hurling final has been fixed for Saturday October 31st.

SENIOR GAA

On Sunday our club flocked to Innovate Wexford Park to watch our Senior heroes in their hurling Co Semi final v St Martins. Unfortunately things did not go to plan and the men suffered a heavy defeat. Thanks to the character in the team and their management we know they will pick themselves up and prepare for their County Intermediate football final v Bannow / Ballymitty on Friday next October 16th in Taghmon.

Well done to club girls Sadhbh Neville and Grace Roche who lined up with the Co U12 ladies football teams at their recent blitz.

TABLE QUIZ

The table quiz due to take place on Friday October 16th has been postponed until further notice due to the Intermediate football final on the same evening.

FLAGS AND BUNTING

With four County Finals still to play for,(Intermediate football, Senior B Camogie, U21 and Minor hurling) the club shop has been stocked with flags and bunting. Contact 0872260312 if interested in buying some.

Taghmon/Camross

Camross Drama Group

October is upon us and that means the beginning of the One Act Drama performances and Festivals. Rehearsals are increasing to 3 and 4 nights a week for both 'Rainbows is the Boys' and 'The Marriage Proposal'. At present 'Rainbows' is entered into 4 Festivals-Cork, Palmerstown, Goresbridge and Gorey. Fingers crissed, we may get another but more groups are entering and places are limited.

Dates for the local diary are Sunday 25th October in Camross Hall and Sunday 1st November in Horse & Hound, Ballinaboola where the two plays will be performed. 8pm, €10 entry on door. Next meeting is Wednesday 14th October in Camross Hall at 7.30pm-New members always welcome.

Dancing at Camross

The November dance dance will be held on Fri.6th with music by T Bone Country, Dancing from 10pm to 12 midnight, refreshments served and admission is €8.

Concert Thanks

Camross Hall committee extends sincere thanks to all performers who gave of their time and talent and entertained a most enthusiastic audience at our Variety Concert held on Sunday 27th September. Thanks also to all who came and supported the event, a great night of laughter was had by all.

There was no winner of our Lotto last week,winning numbers were 10, 11, 15 and 29 and there were four match 3 winners: Margaret Doyle, Barrystown; Jamie O'Hanlon, Oldboley; Pat O Hanlon Jnr c/o Deirdre O'Hanlon, and Micky Banville, Fethard. Next week's Jackpot will be €9,500.

The Intermediate Football final between Bannow/Ballymitty and Glynn/Barntown will be in Taghmon pitch this Friday night 16th October at 8pm. Come on in to savour the atmosphere between our two neighbouring clubs.

Athletic club

Well done to our 9 athletes that competed on a very difficult course in the county even ages in Adamstown. Joseph Hanlon, Hannah Roche Kelly, James Hanlon, Aisling Kelly, Kaci Blanch, Chloe O'Toole and Flora Doran and Irene Hanlon.

The girls U14 team Hannah Aisling and Kaci won Gold team event. Very well done girls, qualifying for the Leinster even ages championships along with Joseph Hanlon, James Hanlon and Flora Doran. Very well done to all.

badminton club

The Club is up and running on Monday/Thursday nights: Underage from 6.45-8pm, Adults 8pn till late. All are welcome. Registrations have to be completed by Thursday 15th October.

Whilst Club members were easing themselves back into the game, Clodagh Dunne and Edward Cousins were on top form at the Yonex Autumn Open in Dublin. Edward and Clodagh both reached the semi finals of their Singles. In the mixed doubles they came runners up in the final. Clodagh and partner took the runners up title in the Ladies Doubles. Congrats to both of you.

A week later Clodagh headed to Ulster for the U17 Open. She won the U17 Girls Singles and the U17 Girls Doubles, she took the runners up title in the Mixed Doubles. Well done Clodagh you are doing your Club/Parish proud.

Our Annual Fundraising run/walk/cycle will be held on Sunday 1st November Sponsorship Cards are now available.

Family Resource Centre

Personal Development Course-Exploring the self and building confidence: This program will build self awareness of our needs, values, achievements and our worth. Just a few places remaining; starting Thursday 15th October, 10:30am to 12:30pm the cost is €50 for 8 weeks.

Parents Plus Programme-For parents of teenagers aged 11-16 years: starting on Wednesday 14th October for 8 weeks from 7-9pm.. This programme designed by Parents Plus can help you have a better relationship with your child and give parents the tools to help their child reach their full potential.

Homework Club for Secondary School-For first and second year secondary school students: Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 4:30 to 6:15pm. Participants will get a snack, support to do homework and an activity of their choice. Please contact the Office in Joseph Street to register.

Fundraiser

On 17th October an auction will be held in memory of Darren White and in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, with the support of Clongeen Ladies GAA and Clongeen GAA. It takes place in the Oak Tree in Foulksmills from 9pm.

This amazing Trust brought Darren home after his sudden death in The Philippines last month. There will be music from local musicians and a raffle as well as some great items up for auction. Tickets are only €5 so please come and support this great cause.
