Items for the Bree NS Parents Association autumn used clothing collection (clothes, bags, shoes, curtains. etc) can be dropped at Bree Community Centre on Wednesday 7th October 6.30-8pm and Thursday 8th October 8.30-9.30am.
History of Hurling
The AGM of Clonroche Historical Society will be held in Clonroche Community Centre on Tuesday September 29th at 8.30 pm. Tom McDonald will speak on the history of hurling and the Cloughbawn hurlers from 1947-1952; an objective but respectful account.
Ballyhogue GAA Lotto
Ballyhogue GAA draw is this Wednesday night, September 30th in Ryan's of Galbally. The Lotto jackpot still remains at €10,000. You can also play the lotto online.

Weekly Volleyball has resumed on Wednesdays from 8.30-10pm in Galbally Hall. All are very welcome.

Galbally Community Playschool, catering for children from all areas, has a small number of places remaining for the 2015/2016 school year. Parents can avail of free pre school places under the ECCE scheme and we also have the subvention scheme in place with rates starting from €4.50 per morning. Bree Community Centre
All organizations using Bree Community Centre are asked to be represented at the Community Centre AGM which takes place on Tuesday, 20th October at 8.30pm.
Outdoor athletic training has resumed on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm in the lower field for athletes aged 8 years and older. Indoor training will resume in Bree Community Centre on Thursday 8th October from 7pm to 7.45pm for 5-8 year olds and from 7.45pm to 9pm from over 9 year olds. Bree Parish Journal
Preparations are under way for this year's edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of October.
The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Irish dancing classes have recommenced for all of our dancers with classes times as normal. Enrolment is now taking place for new pupils. Sunday night 11th October is the next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre. Music is by Pat Daly who played to a full house on his last visit which is exactly twelve months ago. He had a huge his with his song 'Lonely Little Robin' and he is making a welcome return. Dancing is from 9.30p.m. Admission €8 with the usual tasty refreshments served. Come and enjoy a lovely social occasion.
The Parents Association are hosting our Meet and Greet for the new Parents in the school on 29th September at 8.00pm. All Parents of all children in all classes are also welcome to come along and join us for an informal chat and refreshments on the night, Wee would welcome any ideas for activities and events for the children in the coming months. Looking forward to seeing all the parents on the night.

Deirdre Byrne of Home Farm Stud, Ballinvack, Oulart was recently notified by Alison Connolly, Director of Breeding & Programmes, Horse Sport Ireland that "Bright Like A Diamond" bred by her mother, the late Mrs. Betty Byrne had won "Class 43: Performance Irish Draught" at the 2015 Dublin Horse Show.
The letter stated "The Dublin Horse Show is a great showcase for quality horses and is extremely competitive. To breed a horse that wins at that level is an outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Home Farm Stud and every success with your future breeding endeavours".
The community of Oulart-The Ballagh extends its congratulations to the stud proprietors and wish them continued success.
When Oulart National School re-opened after the Summer vacation it welcomed 18 Junior Infants who began their formal education this year. They and their parents/guardians are assured of a holistic education that caters for the needs of each individual pupil so as to enable each of them to reach their full potential.

On Friday 9th October, the pupils and staff of Scoil Mochua will attend Mass in St. Patrick's Church to celebrate the beginning of the new school year. Parents/guardian and other family members, as well as all members of the community, are invited and encouraged to attend this special occasion.
Oulart-The Ballagh Minor hurlers will contest the Under 18 County Final versus a "combined-team" Abban-O'Reilly in Oylegate on Saturday 3rd October. Throw in is at 11 am. The team and mentors would appreciate lots of vocal support. Let's put out our flags and banners and don our red-and-black gear to show our support for and appreciation of our young hurlers who are on the threshold of adulthood and will form the backbone of our senior team in years to come.
As Local Notes must be submitted before noon on Fridays (before the weekend GAA action gets under way) by the time the notes are published, Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurlers will have played St. Anne's in the championship quarter-final on Sunday 27th September and we all hope that the outcome is positive. Likewise with our Intermediate team who played the quarter-final against Naomh Éanna in Monamolin on Saturday.
Results and match reports are available in the sports pages. Well done to our youthful Junior hurlers who recently overcame Wygram Gaels to avoid relegation and retain their status.
Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team who were recently crowned winners of the Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Sevens will play St. Ibar's Shelmaliers in the county semi-final on Saturday 10th October at 1.45pm, in Bellefield. Best of good luck to the team and their management team of Philip Rossiter, Margaret Leacy, Ciara Scallan and Hughie O'Connor. Rathnure and St. Martin's will contest the other semi-final.
The Annual Novena to St. Therese that began on Wednesday 23rd September, at 7.30pm in St. Mochua's Chapel will conclude on October 1st with the Novena prayers and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
Scouting in Oulart
For many years, Oulart had a very successful Scout Unit, with dedicated leaders and volunteers. There is now an interest in reforming the Scout Unit in Oulart. Extra volunteers are needed to become Leaders and Associate members. For full information please contact Leah Whelan on 086-3511178.
The Ballagh Boxing Club began the new season training on 7th September with the beginners and under 11 s from 6.30pm-7.30pm.All other boxers 6.30pm-8pm. Training will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. The club is looking forward to seeing all former members as well as some new faces also.
Mass Times Change
Following a period of consultation it has been decided that, from the first Sunday in October, Mass on Sunday mornings in The Ballagh will be at 11 am instead of 11.30am. Sunday morning Mass in Oulart will continue to be celebrated at 10am while the times for the Vigil Mass (Sat. evenings) remain unchanged: 6.30pm in The Ballagh and at 7.30pm in Oulart.
Oylegate Youth Club:
Members of the club will travel to Bree Community centre for their first Disco of the year on Friday next 2nd October.
There will be youth club in the Community centre for members not travelling. The supervisors for the evening are Ray Quigley, Margaret Quirke, Mary McCauley, Michelle Murphy, Paul Burns, and Kate Shannon

Having a summer clearout? Please leave your bags of clothes, shoes, linens, handbags at Oylegate N.S. on Wednesday 30th September before 9.30am. Proceeds going to school funds.
A coffee morning was held on Thursday morning last in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate in aid of Hospice Homecare. A total of €530 was raised. Many thanks to all who supported the morning, donated money or cakes and to all who made the morning such a wonderful success.
There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in Mernaghs Lounge, Oylegate on Wednesday 16th September. The next draw will be held in The Slaney Inn, Oylegate on Wednesday September 30th. Tickets cost just €2 each and are available from club members.
Oylegate/Glenbrien GAA club are holding a fundraising draw to help pay off the debt on the field. The first prize is €5,000 and all other prizes are cash. Tickets cost €10 each or 3 for €20. Ticket sellers and/or drivers are required to help out with the fundraiser and all help would be greatly appreciated please contact Majella Doran.
