FILM FESTIVAL

Pupils from Mayglass N.S. took part in this years 2011 Fis film festival which was held in St Michaels theatre New Ross. Taking part in a festival such as this gives pupils an appreciation of many aspects of film making including script writing, story boarding, direction, camera work, sound recording and special effects. This is a non competitive festival and pupils can view their work on the screen. Well done all concerned.

DRAMA

A big "thank you" to Leisure Max Drinagh who provided an ideal setting for the Ballycogley Players fun night out. The group went bowling and as with occasions such as this the night did not go without incident. Kathleen really "fell" for the occasion, Annemarie "poor thing"did in a nail while Tony had his group in a Knott. Terence seemed to have gotten over his neck problems with Mary about to offer him comfort.

Our chairman Fintan looked like he had done ten rounds with Mike Tyson, but we all know that Vera took care of his aching body. The "cheek"of Trish to think that she could beat Paddy at bowling who incidently suffered a sore thumb at least that was his excuse for Greg taking the spoils. Catherine who used the name Patrick which allowed her use the heavier bowl kept the latter group on their toes.Laura and Rachal were unable to go bowling but joined the group in the farmers kitchen for a few bevvies. A great night was had by all.

Cubs joined 160 other young people in the first county cub camp in Carne on June bank holiday weekend. The highlights were camp fire, hike, recycling, fashion show and disco. Unfortunatly the water activities planned had to be cancelled due to high winds.

Some 28 beavers attended the county beaver camp in Carne during mid June where the young people took part in "hole in the bucket"relays, camp fire, crabfishing, scout bases, hike and crafts.

Scouts have planned a trip to the Saltee islands and a weekend away incorperating water and outdoor activities in July.

Cubs and scouts finished off their year with a brabeque on Wednesday night while the beavers had a beach party on Saturday. Meetings have finished for the summer break but will be back again in September.

The scouts have been asked to take part in the opening parade for the seafood festival on July 7th so can all sections meet at Hotel Saltees at 7pm in full uniform.
