Well done to all the athletes from St. Killians AC who travelled to Tullamore last weekend for the Juvenile Leinster championships. Conor Gaffney took gold in the 250M Hurdles Under 15 and bronze in the 80M Hurdles and finished in 4th place in the Triple Jump.
Mikey Cullen took gold in the Under 15 Triple Jump and bronze in the Long Jump and silver in the High Jump; Aideen Kane took gold in the 75M Hurdles and gold also in the Long Jump and qualified for the final of the sprint; Shannon De Luca finished in 7th place in the 200M under 16 final; Jane Shovlin qualified for the final of the 200M and also the 100M Under 15 but outside of the medal placings. Paddy Devereux, Kilpatrick (Bree AC) took silver n the Hurdles under 16 final and Shane Whelan, Crory (now with Enniscorthy) finished in 3rd place in the High Jump.
Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last weeks Lotto jackpot and there were no match three winners. The numbers drawn were 1, 15, 19, and 23. This week's jackpot is €4,800.
Crossabeg AFC held their annual general meeting in Kyle Forge on May 27 and thanks to all who attended. Crossabeg Soccer club are holding a fund raising table quiz in Foleys of Crossabeg this Thursday (June 23) at 8.30 p.m. and will follow up with another table quiz in Marty B`s in Killurin on Thursday, June 30 at 8.30 p.m. Entry fee is €20 per team of four persons and there will be cash and spot prizes up for grabs on both nights. Crossabeg Childcare centre will be running activity camps for school age children throughout the summer holidays. The camps will run on the following dates:-July 4 to July 8; July 11 - 15; July 18-22; July 25-29; August 8-12 and August 15-19. Camps cost €75 per week and will run from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. daily. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Dave Reck, Monmore, recuperating following an appendix operation at Wexford General Hospital on Wednesday of last week.
The 55+ clubs annual 5-day holiday will take them to Bantry in Co. Cork, with touring and sight-seeing daily. The guests will stay at the Maritime hotel and spa on the quay. The cost is €330 per person sharing and a deposit of €100 must be paid on or before August 6.
Arrangements are being made to take members to Knock shrine on June 25 in preparation for the National Eucharistic Congress which takes place next year. The cost for the bus is €20 per person and breakfast and carvery will be available at the Bridge house hotel in Tullamore for those who want same. The annual Patron to Crossabeg cemetery will take place on Saturday, July 2.
The local Community Games area were out in action in the Leinster outdoor team events competing against Carlow. The girls under 13 Futsal team took on a team from Graiguecullen and won out on a 3-2 scoreline. The side played very well and took control of the game with Jessie Harding having a great game for her team. They led 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Rianna Cullen and Derbhla Doyle and went 3-1 up in the second half with Graiguecullen pulling another goal back but time ran out and Wexford are now through to the Leinster semi-final to be played in Carlow on Saturday, July 9.
In action last weekend also were the girls under 13 Soccer team who took on St. Lazerians of Carlow in round 2. This was a one-sided affair with Castlebridge/Crossabeg 6-0 up at the break and they went on to claim 2 more goals in the second half to win out on an 8-0 scoreline. Goals were scored by Sinead RonanJohn (1) Kirsty Fanning (1) Fiona Kinsella (2) Sarah O`Brien (1) and Larah Campbell (3).
St. Killians Athletic club have joined up with Adamstown and Enniscorthy for a series of summer athletics the first of which was were staged at Crossabeg community field on Thursday night of last week and continuing this Thursday, June 23. The cost is €1 per athlete. There was much fun for all the kids last week, particularly in the Obstacle races.
The events are scored for club teams and not individuals (all of which will be outlined once scoring is finalised). Each club is asked to have 5 helpers available again this week. St. Killians AC are delighted to host the events and they look forward to your clubs participation once again this week.
There are events for Under 9`s right up to under 19, fun obstacle races,bucket challenges, ball throw, long jump, as well as Javelin, high jumps, relays etc. This is a great opportunity for members of the local club to test their skills with other athletes and at the same time enjoy their sport and mix with other athletes.
