STORY TELLING

The next session of story telling at Kyle Forge will take place on Sunday next, July 3. Proceedings get underway at 8 p.m and refreshments are also served. Reserve Sunday, July 20 for yet another session.

ANNUAL PATRON

The annual Patron to Crossabeg cemetery takes place on Saturday evening next, July 2 at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated in the cemetery. If you wish to have your deceased family members prayed for, please leave list in at the Parochial house by Thursday, June 30.

Blessing of old cemeteries On Friday next, July 1, the following are the times for the blessing of graves in the old cemeteries in the parish:-8 p.m in Artramant, 8.30 p.m in Saunderscourt and 9 p.m. in Tykillen.

GAA NEWS

Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last weeks Lotto jackpot, while there were two match three winners, Phil Breen and David O'Leary. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 18, and 22. This week's jackpot is €5000.

SOCCER CLUB NEWS

Crossabeg Soccer club are holding a fund raising table quiz in Marty B`s in Killurin this Thursday (June 30) at 8.30 p.m. Entry fee is €20 per team of four persons and there will be cash and spot prizes up for grabs on the night. Refreshments will also be served. Your generous support would be appreciated.

Training for the junior soccer teams resumes on Sunday next, July 3 at 11 a.m. Youths and new members most welcome. The club extends good wishes to Carol Ryan and her teammates ahead of the upcoming Special Olympics.

CHURCH NEWS

Friday next, July 1 is the First Friday of the month and the sick and housebound of the parish will be visited during the morning. Adoration takes place every Monday from 2 p.m and Confessions every Saturday evening at 6.15 p.m.

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

On Sunday, June 20, people from all parts of the parish gathered in the new community field for the first Crossabeg/Ballymurn community challenge. The event consisted of eight different challenges, both physical and mental which provided great sport for participants and supporters alike.

A total of 13 teams competed with participants of all ages, from youths right up to the more mature. The result was in doubt right up to the last event which was the the obstacle course, with Zac Corish's team emerging victorious. His team mates included Tendai O Connor, Séamus Carroll, Niall Rossiter and Mark O`Connor. Zac has challenged all comers to return next year to try to wrestle the perpetual trophy from his grasp.

Younger children were very well catered for also with a range of fun activities organised by members of the youth club. Once everyone had worked up an appetite they were well fed by the local barbeque experts. A most enjoyable evening ensued and it provided the committee with a great opportunity to show off the facilities open to all at the venue.

MR. NED DOYLE R.I.P.

The death occured at Lawson house nursing home last weekend of Mr. Ned Doyle, senior, Garrywilliam, Crossabeg. His remains were removed from Mulligans funeral home to Taghmon church on Monday evening last at 6 p.m. and burial took place to Taghmon cemetery following Requiem Mass on Tuesday. Predeceased by his wife, Brigid, he is survived by his sons, Ned, Matt and Jim, his daughters Bridget and Caroline, grandson Liam, relatives and friends to whom we offer our deepest sympathy. R.I.P.

CONDOLENCES

We extend our condolences to the relatives of the late Eleanor (Nell) Walsh (nee Delaney) widow of Joe Walsh, formerly of Ballydicken, Crossabeg, whose funeral took place in Ennis, Co. Clare on Sunday, June 26.

CHILDCARE CENTRE

Crossabeg Childcare centre will be running activity camps for school age children throughout the summer holidays. The camps will run on the following dates:-July 4 to July 8; July 11 - 15; July 18-22; July 25-29; August 8-12 and August 15-19.

Camps cost €75 per week and will run from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. daily. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. There are still full and part time places available in the Baby room and Wobbler/Toddler room. For further information please phone 053-9128000.
