GLYNN/ BARNTOWN

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Congratulations and well done to Carole Ryan, Belmont, Newtown, who is representing Ireland in the Special Olympics World Games in Athens. Carole is competing in the Gymnastics. The Opening Ceremony is on June 25th and the Games follow for 2 weeks. We wish her the very best of Irish luck!

BRIGINS

Last Wednesday the brigins finished up for the summer with the much awaited Teddy Bears Picnic. Some of the little ones baked and will be awarded with "baking badges" in September. Great fun was had by all. Some of the youngsters will be due to move on to the Guides in September but unfortunately due to a lack of adult involvement, the future of the Girl Guides in Barntown is at serious risk.

It would be such a pity if the girls could not move on to the Guides in their own parish as we have had Girl Guides in Barntown under the leadership of Mary Whelan since 1977. If anyone has a little spare time on their hands and is interested in ensuring the Guides remain active in Barntown please contact Eithne 086 2468 940. Many thanks.
