GLYNN BARNTOWN

BARNTOWN YOUTH CHOIR

The Youth Choir will return for registration and practise on Thursday 01st November from 7 to 8 pm. Queries to Louise on 087 6734 688.

DISCO

A disco for 4th, 5th and 6th classes will take place on Tuesday 30th October in Glynn Barntown G.A.A. Centre from 8.00pm - 10.00pm. Admission €3 - all welcome. On Thursday November 1 a disco for 1st year and up will take place from 8.30pm - 11.00pm. Admission €5.00 - all welcome.

SCHOOL HEALTHY EATING

This week at Barntown NS we will be focusing on 'Keeping Active and Healthy Eating, October 22nd - 26.

Children (and teachers) will be encouraged to make healthy food choices and also to try some new healthy foods

SHOE BOX APPEAL

Last week saw the launch of the Shoe Box Appeal. At Assembly on Friday, 6th class pupils gave an account of suitable items for your shoe box. We ask that all boxes be returned to the school by 12th November. Thank-you for your support.

RACKARD LEAGUE

Our girls team made gallant efforts in all their games but unfortunately are now at the end of the competition. Well done girls and congratulations on your enthusiasm and commitment throughout the league.

HALLOWEEN

Watch out everyone because this Friday (26th October) we expect a steady stream of ghosts, goblins, witches, vampires and other scary creatures all heading to Barntown National School for the annual "Dress up for Halloween" day. What will your little angel be?

GAA NEWS ON THE PITCH

Congratulations to our minor hurlers who captured the Division 2 county championship last Sunday. Padraig Weafer and Ian Moran grabbed a brace of goals apiece but it was all about the panel as each and every player who got onto the field played his part. Well done Mick Laffan Jnr and his management team.

Congratulations also to our U-10s who won the Martin Bergin Sheild in the Sarsfields tournament, in keeping with Glynn Barntown tradition, they did it the hard way needing extra time to overcome the Vols. Well done also to our U-11 and U-12 teams on their recent success.

FORUM

A meeting for players and non playing members of the club is taking place Friday 26th October at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse. The meeting is an open forum for members to give their views on the future direction of hurling and football in the club. All welcome.

LOTTO

The lotto this coming Wednesday is for a top prize of €2,250 and will take place in Mary Jo's Larkin's Cross.

GENERAL

Finally, don't forget the clocks go back an hour this coming Saturday/Sunday night so the dark evenings will be closing in. Anyone walking or cycling in the vicinity are urged to wear high visibility jackets or reflective armbands and be safe be seen.

GLYNN YOUTH CLUB

The bus for the Halloween disco this Friday, will leave at 8.25 pm and return at 12.35. Normal youth club for those not going.

Well done to Ben Barnes and Nigel Donohoe who qualified for the National table tennis competition, next year, and Adam Wogan and Kevin Birney who came close! The boys and girls soccer will be on Friday 9th November in Enniscorthy, if any parents know their child won't be available please let us know asap.

Our annual fundraiser for local homeless charities, will be held during mid term on Friday 2nd November from 12 noon to 10pm We are moving away from the over nighter... might go back to it next year? More details on our facebook page, anyone with any suggestions or ideas, let us know?

The next Volunteer awareness training session that all parents MUST do to supervise at youth club, will be held on Tuesday 23rd October in the Enniscorthy FDYS, from 7 to 9.30pm please attend, so that rota can be spread out more evenly. Colette 086 352 7292.

STRICTLY CLUB DANCING

The final of Strictly Club Dancing is this coming Sunday October 28 in Whites Hotel where we will be represented by Sarah Butler, Alan Cowman, Barry Kirwan and Rita Carroll among others. Tickets are like gold dust so contact Tom Rossiter, Pascal Carley or any of the dancers as soon as you can.

COMMUNITY GAMES

We are entering U15 boys and girls Badminton, U10, U12 and U14 Draughts, U12 and U16 Chess, U13 boys and girls Table Tennis, U12 boys and girls Soccer, U15 girls Soccer, U13 boys and girls one wall Handball, U13 mixed Tennis. Also coming up soon will be U14 boys and girls Debating and Cross Country. Contact: Colette asap to put your name down for any of the above panels, new comers more than welcome.
