Horseshoes Chairman Earle vacates position

COUNTY HORSESHOES Chairman, Brendan Earle, resigned his position at a meeting in Ferns on Wednesday last, having been elected to the post recently.
The County Board had decided one week earlier to remain as members of the H.P.A.I. after the idea of the clubs going it alone was mooted.
After Earle departed Wednesday's meeting, a discussion took place about the election of a new incumbent. There were several people nominated for the job but all declined to take it, so it was therefore left to the Vice-Chairman, Denis Larkin Snr, to reluctantly fill the role.
The new Vice-Chairman is John Doyle Snr. of Doran's Bridge.
The new Chairman stated he would prefer if only two players per club attended the meetings, with the next one on Wednesday, February 26, in Ferns at 8 p.m.
All clubs at this meeting should bring a list of players' names who are competing, in order to grade the players.
The H.P.A.I. are holding their A.G.M. in Carlow on February 1 at 2 p.m. Denis Larkin Snr. hopes every club will have at least two players that will attend this in the hope of getting some motions passed. Support from all clubs is needed.
