MEMBERS of the Wexford Lions Club are hailing their annual Coastal Walk as a 'huge success' after a total of 148 walkers took part.
Each year in August members and supporters walk 80 of the 140 miles of County Wexford's coastline over the course of a weekend. Seamus Murphy, President of the Wexford Lions Club said: 'The charity walk over the weekend was a huge success.
A total of 148 walkers took part and 45 walkers participated in the Rosslare Strand Beach circuit on Sunday morning. All money raised will go to help so many needy causes in the Wexford Area such as Wexford Women's Refuge, St John's Hospital Bus, Multiple Sclerosis South Wexford, Respite Holidays, Suicide Awareness Training and Various Local Community Charities.'
The Lions Club is extremely thankful to everyone who took part and Seamus said: 'We really appreciate the support and generosity of the Wexford People and I wish to take this opportunity to thank them. I would also like to thank all the volunteers, the media, suppliers of refreshments and the emergency services of the Coastguard, Civil Defence and the Gardai for their help in ensuring the walk went off safely. We look forward to an even bigger number of walkers participating next year.'
