The brass section of County Wexford Youth Orchestra is having special coaching lessons from highly qualified brass Instructor Liam Daly, whose work has already seen a marked improvement in the orchestra's performance.
David Creevy, Principal of Wexford School of Music which manages the Youth Orchestra, said the experienced Liam is a talented instructor who would build up that section of the county orchestra.
'He assisted Emily Redmond, the Conductor of the Youth Orchestra last year, and we have seen such a marked improvement in the brass section that it is great to have him teaching French Horn and Trumpet full time in the school as well,' he said.
Waterford-based Liam hails from Artane in Dublin and started out in the Artane Boys Band at the age of nine. He went on to take up a commission with the Irish Defence Forces for 14 years, followed by a commission in Australia where he was Music Director of Australian Army Bands in Darwin and Perth.
He is currently Music Director of the University of Limerick Orchestra, The Irish Symphonic Wind Orchestra and the Wexford Sinfonia Wind Band and teaches brass in Coolcotts NS as well as St Anne's NS in Rathangan.
