THE Wexford Campus of IT Carlow have designed a new Certificate in Pastoral Theology.

Caroline Murphy, Head of the Wexford Campus, said the course was aimed at anyone who would like to expand their knowledge and skills in religious training and theology and those who would like to know their Christian faith better.

'It will equip participants with the necessary knowledge attitudes and understanding for pastoral care in the community in a wide variety of contexts, schools, local communities, youth work, voluntary organisations, adult faith formation groups, family ministry, support groups, parish liturgy groups and parish development groups,' she said.

The focus of the course is to give a living relevance of doctrine. It prepares people for ministry through theological reflection, faith formation and participative learning.

The course is designed to facilitate the human, spiritual and pastoral development of participants at a time when there is a growing awareness of the importance of collaborative ministry in the church.

On completion of the course participants will receive a recognised level 6 Certificate in Pastoral Theology. The course runs for 18 weeks on a Tuesday and a Thursday night.

Should anyone want further information on the course contact the Wexford Campus on (053) 9185809.
