OUR LADY'S ISLAND
KEEP WEXFORD BEAUTIFUL
At the Wexford County Council Environment Awards on Monday night last in the Ferrycarrig Hotel , the village of Our Lady's Island was declared the Overall Winner.
This is a wonderful achievement as the village has only entered the competition in recent years and faced stiff competition. Great credit is due to the magnificent team of FAS workers who have such a great interest in the place and work so hard to keep the area looking splendid.
The Plaque and cheque was collected by Joe Druhan on behalf of the Parish Pastoral Council. Following the presentation of the prize, M.C. Alan Corcoran paid a glowing tribute to the late Councillor Leo Carthy for his tremendous interest in, and work on behalf of Our Lady's Island and people of south Wexford during his forty-nine years on Wexford Co. Council.
This was followed by a standing ovation by all present. Congratulations to everyone who played even the smallest part in achieving this great honour for our own place. Keep up the good work.
