Grateful thanks from the organisors to each and everyone who supported Joans Christmas Coffee Day which was held in aid of Castlebridge Day Care Centre. The amount raised was €730 and was presented to the committee last weekend. A special word of thanks to the following people who donated prizes for the raffle run in conjunction with the Coffee Day, Michael & Fiona Gainfort, Dave & Yvonne Johnson, Hannah Carroll, Trish Murphy, Myles & Sharon Doyle and Kelvin & Marsha Sweeney.

A monster Table quiz will take place on Friday, February 1 in Hotel Curracloe. All proceeds in aid of World Youth Day. The quiz will get underway at 9 p.m Entry fee is €20 for a table of 4 people. Please support.

Well done to the Shelmaliers on a fine victory over Ballyhogue in the Jim Byrne Cup last week. St. Peters College defeated St. Mels of Longford in Stradbally last week and the Shels club were well represented by Eoghan Nolan (captain) Simon Donohoe, Graham Staples and Kevin O`Connor (1-9). Stephen Carr from Castlebridge is also on the panel. The boys played a big part in that victory and the team will play St. Pats of Navan in the quarterfinal in two weeks time on February 9.
There was no winner of the jackpot for January 21. The numbers drawn were 1, 12, 19 & 28. There were 3 match 3 winners, Isobel Mahon, Rory O`Leary and Niamh Donohoe. The next jackpot stands at €13,200.
Here is a chance for you to save money on match tickets and to help your local GAA club at the same time. A silver ticket costs €125 and this includes entry to all local adult championship games in the county and a gold ticket costs €275 which will give you entry to all local adult championship games and all games, National League, Leinster and National championships played in Wexford. Throats will be blessed in Castlebridge church after the 7.30 p.m. Mass on Saturday evening enxt and again after the 8 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. Masses on Sunday morning.
February 13 is Ash Wednesday and ashes will be distributed in the church at 12 noon, at 12.20 in the Day Care centre and before and after the 7.30 p.m. evening Mass.
The school childrens First Penance (Confession) takes place on Monday, March 25 and First Communion Day is Saturday, April 27. Confirmation in the parish takes place on Saturday, May 25.
Heartiest congratulations to well known Castlebridge resident, Barney Murphy who celebrated his 80th birthday recently with family and friends.
A Benefit night to raise funds for Our Lady's hospital, Crumlin, takes place in Freddies bar in Screen on Saturday, February 16 from 8 p.m onwards. There will be many spot prizes, a raffle and there will also be a DJ. Tickets cost ?5 and are available at Freddies bar and C&C Screen. There is also an option of Thai Wine & Dine (meal with a bottle of wine) and tickets for same cost €25 with €5 of same going towards the fundraiser.
A churchgate collection in aid of `Fighting Blindness` will be taken up at Castlebridge church this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, February 2 and 3. Your generous support would be appreciated.

St. Ibars/Shelmaliers Camogie club held their annual general meeting on Saturday last where the biggest attendance for many years gathered . Over 50 people were present to reflect on a memorable 2012 which saw five teams contest county finals, the history book being launched, and the club of the year award being secured for the first time. Tributes were paid to Mick Lanigan who stepped down after three years as Chairman, while Bessie Banville, one of the club's two founder members, was added to the existing list of Presidents.
Officers elected for the coming year were:- Fr. Membership is as follows:- players over 18 years €50; players aged 16 to 18 years €30; players under 16 €20; non-players €30; family (players under 16 plus one adult) is €50 (and extra €30 for an additional adult). Circuit training began in Hollymount last night (Monday) and will continue this Thursday, January 31 from 8- 9 p.m. The fee is ?3 per night and this is open to all players eligible to play Under 16, Under 18 and adult, in both codes.
