Plenty of people got all the inspiration they needed to carry out that well-needed revamp or renovation on their home this weekend as they attended a special open day at C+D Home and Hardware on Trinity Street.

Young and old flocked in their droves to the event which saw massive discounts throughout the store as well as lots of advice from some of the industry's most renowned experts, among them architect from RTE Show 'Room to Improve' Dermot Bannon.

'We had some great speakers on the day,' said assistant manager Sean Cullimore. 'Dermot Bannon gave a great talk on the best use of design with space, light and colour. Then we also had Jim Copeland of the Irish Hardware Association who discussed the various tax rebates that are available to people carrying out work on their home. It was interesting stuff and I think it might have given a few people a better idea of what way they wanted to go.'

While mums and dads listened to the advice of the experts and took advantage of the discounts in store, there was plenty for the little ones to see on the day too with face painting and special guest appearances from the Dulux Dog, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Peppa Pig and lots more.

'It was a great day and everyone really enjoyed themselves,' said Sean. 'We had a great crowd down and it was a huge success.'
