KILMORE

COMMUNITY GAMES

The County Art finals were held in Castlebridge recently and it turned out to be a very successful day for the Kilmore area. The standard at our local competition was very high and this was borne out in the number of medals we brought home from the County Finals.

Five of our artists came first and will now represent Wexford at the National Finals in Athlone in August. They were Aine Fortune (U8), Anna Bates (U14), Noah Bates (U8), Ben Lambert (U10) and Cian Bates (U14). In the Silver medal positions were Grace Bates (U8) and Conor Cassidy (U14). Cora Devlin (U12) won the Bronze.

Congratulations to all the above and everyone else who reached the Finals. The presentation of medals for the art competition is on in the Ferrycarrig Hotel next Monday 24th March at 7.30pm

It is proposed to run a bus for senior citizens to attend the Light Opera production of "Sister Act-The Musical" which takes place from 28th April to May 3rd in the Opera House. More details later. DEATHS

The death of Tom Barton Crossfarnogue Kilmore Quay took place last week. Tom was a very nice and gentle man and sympathy goes out to his family and friends on their loss.

The death of Eddie Veale Dublin and Sea View took place suddenly in Dublin. Eddie came to live in Seaview in Sept 1979 and has been coming up and down all those years. Eddie with all his neighbours was a very popular person and was always willing to help out. To Clodagh his wife and all his family we sympathise on their great loss as he will be missed in the Kilmore area.

GET WELL WISHES

All at Kilmore United would like to wish Julie Benson a speedy recovery from the serious leg injuries which were picked up in a recent league game as a result of a nasty incident. Julie is our longest serving womens team player & although these injuries are horrendous, she is made of stern stuff & hopefully we'll see her in the red & white again.

Julie is not only very popular in all sporting circles in our community, but also right across the county. If expressions of best wishes are anything to go by, she will be back on her feet in super quick time.
