Urgent appeal by charity

CHILDREN'S charity the Jack & Jill foundation has put out an urgent nationwide appeal for help.

The foundation which has assisted 76 Wexford families since it was established in 1997 is €400,000 in the red.

Now Jack & Jill founder Jonathan Irwin is looking for the public to dig deep in order that services can be maintained in the 20 cases current around the county.

'This campaign is not about expanding our services - it's simply about maintaining the lifeline we currently provide to the most vulnerable in our society,' explained Jonathan Irwin.

The organisation, which caters for very sick children under the age of four, has an annual budget of €2.7 million for its work throughout the Republic. Supporters are asked to text 'WE CARE' to 57034 to donate €5.
